Description
Placed on the Barry Jarvis Link Road which now leads into Bridport from the west.....!
This cache has been placed on the new Bridport Western Access Road, which is named Barry Jarvis Link Road, in honour of the late Dorset mayor Barry Jarvis.
Cr Jarvis died in 2015, after a single-vehicle car accident police believe was caused by a medical incident.
His death was a shock to the Dorset community, of which Cr Jarvis was mayor of at the time, elected with more than 50 per cent of the primary vote.
He was also the president of the Local Government Association of Tasmania.
Cr Jarvis was a strong advocate against the Tasmanian Forestry Agreement, and was praised as a passionate believer in, and supporter of, the North-East by figures in all three levels of government.
Tributes through The Examiner called him "approachable, loyal and always good for a chuckle", "a tireless advocate for regional Tasmania", and "a champion bloke - forthright, honest, articulate and most of all caring".
Dorset Council general manager Tim Watson said Cr Jarvis was a giant in the recent history of Dorset.
The 2.6-kilometre Barry Jarvis Link Road was opened in April 2019, providing a way for freight vehicles to bypass the town of Bridport by connecting Sandy Points and Bridport roads.

Logs
This road wasn't on our Garmin that we use to get us close to GZ. According to it we were heading across paddocks. I guess it's time to update our maps as I'm sure this road has been here for a few years now. Luckily a bit of local knowledge helped. Thanks LuckyL10N.
An early start to the day; started with a slow drive over icey Huon Highway
Met up with Budge and then onto Launceston
Trying to earn shots for the Battleships Game was the main objective for the day
4 GC caches were found along with 16 GCA caches
In so doing, I expended 1450 calories while taking 4837 steps to cover a distance of 3.9km on foot
This one was Sainted at 1334 hours
Thanks to Budge for a great day
Thanks for a most enjoyable cache
Cheers OldSaint
A new road joins on the bridge, so my GPS was very confused.
