Description
This cache is ONLY for experienced bush walkers, who are prepared to camp out for a number of night to achieve this remote destination. Those who reach this cache will be rewarded with incredible coastal scenery.
Although this cache is not at the end of the track (we couldn't make it due to wild weather and restraints due to last light) it is well on out on South West Cape. It lies on the Western side of the track at the base of a small outcrop of rocks. A very pleasant place to stop for a break and to admire the scenery. It is in plain sight and no hunting in bushes is required. The cache is a pvc pipe capped at both ends approx 20cm long and is completely water and animal proof. It contains a few articles that may be handy in this remote location as well as something fizzy to enjoy for the first to find. A detailed description of the walk can be found in the book South West Tasmania by John Chapman. This walk should not be attempted by anyone who is not an experienced bushwalker. Cache will be maintained by JamesWat, Graham51, Macca81 and anyone who volunteers to. The maintenance of this cache will rely mainly on those who find it to assist with its maintenance.
Logs
I am grateful to Pat, Mat and Grahame who came with me and made the trip such a great experience.
At the end of day one I twisted my ankle and thought the trip was all over, but after soaking my ankle in cold water and strapping it over night and some drugs the next day I was happy to continue on.
Although the next couple of days it was a bit sore to walk on we continued to make progress. The scrub down to the cape was VERY thick but luckily there was a pad to follow. I was VERY happy and surprised to find the cache still there. We were all happy with the *FTF* gift (thank you).
