Description
Photograph an Australian 5c coin that has a different date of production than any other that has been logged
There is a rumour that the 5c coin is not going to be minted any more.
It will go the way of the 1c and 2c coins, although I believe it will remain as currency.
5c coins have been minted every year (except 1985 and 1986 which were only available in mint sets), since decimal currency was introduced in Australia on the 14th February 1966.
This is one for the numismatists among you, but also one that anyone can log.
Only one log per person unless there are two other logs between yours, and only log one coin each time.
these are the coins still to be logged
1973 1978 1989 1995 2007 2015 2017

Logs
After looking through the listed remaining dates, I found they had all been found. I contacted the CO and she said I could log what I have.
So lookin through my 5c coins, I found a 1966 5 cent coin! A historical first year coin.
TFTC
I checked the tin and it was the first one!
I went and raided the piggy banks and came up with a 1989 5c coin.
Found in the coin purse in the car. TFTL
Co-ordinates close but not accurate.
Great Cache,
Thanks for the Locationless Cache

I claim 2015 in the name of Cacheopoly.
Coordinates are the closest 000 to my home location which shall remain slightly secret.
the picture is too big to add to the log so you can see it in the gallery until I learn how to make it smaller
Anyway in the 5 cent collection (apart from one that looks the same from Barbados!) I found one from 1989 to fill in another hole in the list. Thanks Cybergran V.
We very rarely have coins around any Moreton we had pretty much decided to let this one slip by the way side, but Bruce the tooth fairy has just started visiting our house and apparently the going rate is $2 and a match box car per tooth.
Anyway, after spending his tooth money the eldest son was give this as change, and luckily enough it happened to be a year that we couldn't find in the logs.
Thanks for the locationless scavenger hunt.
Thanks for the cache and the challenge Cybergran V.
Thanks for the challenge and for this cache Cybergran V.
Thanks cybergran
Thanks Cybergran V
Thanks Val for the chance to log it.
Sorry to see them go.
Thanks Val for this one.
Thanks for the cache Cybergran V.
Thanks for the Locationless Cache
Got the piggy bank out and the third 5c piece I looked at was 1999.
So we'll claim a find with that one.
Now Mr Beetle is busy counting how much is in there. It won't be much as I usually only throw 5 and 10cent pieces in it.
Thanks.
Thanks Cybergran V.
Claiming 2015
Have a casual collection of 5 cent pieces .. wouldn’t you know .. the first coin I pulled out of the jar was an unclaimed one .. thanks Cybergran V for creating this locationless cache
Pic added below
Thanks for the fun Cybergran V.....you could probably do 10 cents as well. They may not be in danger of being 'archived' but it would be another fun Locationless during these current times.
Many thanks
This time I have a 2014 5 cent coin!
It pays to have a collection of these coins that was originally useless!
The only coin I have too....! Don’t have any other denominations because I don’t carry cash!
Thanks
the only 5c I had in my possession and held hold as i scrolled through all the previous logs
Thanks for a smiley CybergramV.
This nice and shiny 5c piece was in our change today.
Thanks for this cache Cybergran V.
We know 2016 has already been claimed so this is just a ‘Note’ to show a different obverse design.
This ‘special’ 5c piece was designed to celebrate the 50th anniversary of decimal currency.
I have a 1996 5 cent coin amongst many more.
Found on Saturday 15 February 2020 at 2334.
TFTC
Some 5 cents coins worthy of keeping out I believe are:
* 1966 is the first year, there are two version - 'short spine' minted in Canberra and 'long spine' minted in London
* Lower mintage 1972 coins
* 1985 and 1986 which were only issued in mint sets
* Certain 1991 5 cent coins have a 'large SD', these are apparently rare and valuable
Cheers!
Thanks Cybergran V.
First that came out was 2005 lucky for me not logged yet.
TFTL
Photos of both side of the coin have been added to the Gallery.
Thanks Cybergran V for the cache.
Cool Locationless. 2002 for me !
Thanks Cybergran V !!
This is such an easy locationless I’m expecting lots of logs on this today.
Remember that each year can only be logged once.
First in, first to claim, duplicate years will be deleted.
It is being made easier to check as each year will be removed when it has been claimed.
The coins do not have to be found in chronological order.
