Description
To help us remember ANZAC Day - S41 09.470 E146 10.546
ANZAC Day may be a little different this year BUT we should not forget those that gave their ALL so we could enjoy the freedoms we do now
So this LOCATIONLESS cache will take you to a site where:
A Shrine is a clocktower built by immigrants in 1953 which represents the three military services. The clocktower itself is built over the original World War One monument which was unveiled on Anzac Day 1924.
The design features include: The base represents the blue sea and is the outline of Tasmania. It was painted red by the local council some time after, according to Jernej Bajzelj. Out of the land rise three columns, presented as three open books standing upright. They represent the armed services of the army, navy and air force. On the inside surface of the columns, glass rectangles bear the names of the municipality's fallen of World War II. The three chains unite the armed services. Above the pillars is the four-faced clock, which sees in all directions. It represents time and eternity. At the apex is the Torch of Remembrance, kept burning to signify memory. At the heart of the shrine stands the 1914-1919 War Memorial Cenotaph. The central stone circle is blood- red and represents the altar of sacrifice. A laurel wreath hangs from the base of the clock, a symbol of heroes and victors. Woven into the leaves of European laurel are wattle flower heads in groups of three.
To log this cache, please post a screen shot using the "little man" on the GCA map to view the shrine; please only shots taken using the little man to view the shrine

https://wiki.geocaching.com.au/wiki/Locationless_cache
Armchair style Locationless caches where the finder is not required to explore the real world, identify a location and accompany the "Find" with photographic evidence are no longer accepted.
A Locationless cache listing must require the finder to locate an object or perform a task in the real world, collect the co-ordinates and log the find with accompanying photographic evidence.
The geocaching community would like to thank you for listing this Locationess geocache and congratulations to all that found this locationless geocache.
As the geocache no longer meets the requirements we will archive the cache listing.
Lest we forget.

2020 will be a very different Anzac Day but we will still be remembering all those who gave there all so we may be free and safe.
Thanks OldSaint.
That was during my first honeymoon.
Second visit was actually on my second honeymoon in October 1989, on our way from Cradle Mountain Resort to Devonport, to head back home.
Visited today via google maps and recorded using a screenshot on the laptop.
Thanks for the memories OldSaint
LEST WE FORGET
Photo attached.
Its been a while since I last went through here - 1995? Lol. Great Memorial.
TFTC !!
I was able to walk all around it via Google Street Maps.
Thanks for sharing it via this Locationless OldSaint
Thanks OldSaint for showing me something new.
Travelled from Melbourne to Tassie over the last Christmas holidays. We stayed in an AirBnb farmhouse in Forth, but didn't quite get up to Ulverstone. We've been to a few local dawn services, Anzac Day will be different this year that's for sure. I'm thinking about getting the trumpet out for the idea promoted by James Morrison - locals to play the Last Post on an instrument and gather in their driveways at 6:00AM on the day. Have to get practising!
Thanks OldSaint/OldMate
LEST WE FORGET
May we forever remember those who gave everything so we may have everything.
Lest we forget.
Have been past that location many times on my visits to the area. Photo by the little man (screen shot) attached.
