Description

This is A VIRTUAL EVENT - to celebrate our favourite movie series - the event is not at the published co-ordinates

A Virtual Event to celebrate Movies & Movie Series. May 4th is Star Wars Day. The date a play on the words from Star Wars "May the Force be With you." Staying at home gives us the excuse to re-watch our favourite Movies. ClimbingSon and Musoson were Star Wars enthusiasts growing up, so obviously we watched them over and over again. The original trilogy (episodes 4-6) are still our favourites. Maybe you liked Jurassic Park, or Superman, or Batman. Or Star Trek. Or musicals. This event isn't just for Star Wars movie watchers! So log your attendance on May 4th. If you have a favourite movie or Movie Series you can include it if you want, but it's not compulsory.

Star Wars will always be a family favourite as it was what we grew up watching, however the 1989 Disney classic the little mermaid will always be my all time favourite movie.
May the force be with you!

1977...year 7. My Dad lived in Glebe and on the weekends we spent with him, we would take the bus into the city to Hoyts and see this movie. I have always believed that I saw it 17 times in that year, but it was probably half a dozen less. I've made up the difference and more with TV viewing and the DVDs.

A Virtual Event? Ok cool.

I don't mind the movies but I'm not a huge fan.

Thanks.

GCA 3,076. Big fan of the original series.

The next three were a bit painful, but I guess they had a future to live up too. the last three were pretty good. Rogue One was great.

My main memory was watching the original (Part IV) in 1977 at the Darwin Drive In sitting on top of dad's 4WD. So cool. Plus the fact that the trench run was based on both 633 Squadron and The Dam Busters - so very cool !

TFTVE !!

Big fan of the original trilogy. Although lacking in the amazing special effects of today’s sci-fi’s they were brilliant in their day. May the forth be with you!!. thanks..!!

The first Star Wars Trilogy. My wife & I & two friends watched the premiere of Star Wars at the drive-in in Moree in 1977, where we lived at the time. Amazing. After the first three I lost interest in the spin offs. Didn't make sense. As to an individual movie I've watched The Hunt for the Wilderpeople upteem times, including on the weekend. Like the story & dry humour. Thanks for the event.

Hi all! I'll join in. I loved the first 3 (episodes 4-6) Star Wars films, but I strongly feel things went down-hill from there. I thought The Force Awakens was truly awful and have not seen the newer Star Wars films. I much prefer Star Trek. And not just because Star Trek is so much more than just a couple of good films. Star Trek is optimistic and may of the characters have a lot of depth. Whilst it started off as a kind of 'cowboys in space' (like Star Wars) Star Trek went on to explore all sorts of philosophical themes.

My favourite movies of all time would (also) include other Sci-Fi like the Matrix films and 5th Element. When it comes to watching movies over and over probably the Bond films would come up tops for me. Thanks for the virtual event and cache! Very HappyWhistle

Of the Star Wars movies our favourite is still the very first (Episode IV).
During the lockdown Miss Shifter has insisted on watching the Marvel series, one a day for most days, depending on Mrs Shifter's work - we now have three left to go. Of this series Mrs Shifter likes The Thor movies, as well as Guardians of the Galaxy (possibly due to the music, and Groot).
Mrs Shifter also likes the Rambo series.
Thanks for the cache thomo31.

When the first instalment (now episode 4) it was amazing to see at the cinema with all the special effects. I also remember seeing it on a flight to Hawaii and in the first sequence where the fleeing ship is fired on we hit turbulence, either that or the pilot was just having a bit of fun with us. That probably remains my favourite, the second sequence that became Episodes 1-3 were pretty unforgettable, and I haven't seen any of the other spinoffs. Thanks thomo31.

Very Happy Happy Star Wars Day Everyone! Very Happy

As much as I love Star Wars, I will need to say that my favourite movie of all time is 'The Lion King'. Very Happy This however doesn't stop me receiving gifts for my B*day and Christmas that is Star Wars related or watching the movies. As shown in my photo this is one of those artifacts. It is R2D2 cookie jar! Very Happy As for which is my favourite Star Wars movie, it would have to be 'Return of the Jedi'. Star Wars is also one of the only series that I have seen the whole lot of. TFTE Very Happy

For a second, I felt a bit of a fraud logging this... but only for a second. Wink I admit, I'm not a Star Wars fan though I've watched the first two or three and it's supremely clever to create a date. I remember buying some Return of the Jedi trakkies for one of the kids when the movie was released and a Little Droid shirt for a little droid... I mean grandkid. The last really great movie I saw was the New Zealand film, Hunt for the Wilderpeople. Thanks thomo31, enjoying these events and as we'd say it in Oz, May the Fourth be with ya!

ClimbingSon and Musoson were Star Wars fans growing up. Because of them we also enjoyed the movies. I remember the original videos, and then having to buy the new ones when they were digitally redone, and new scenes incorporated. In 1999 we headed to the movie theatre in Penrith with CS and MS to watch the midnight screening of Episode 1 A Phantom Menace, as they wanted to see the first Aussie screening.
ClimbingSon was so keen that whenever new books came out he bought them. It is so strange that those stories "no longer exist". We got the stories on cassette tapes and then MrT transferred them to CDs and again to USB, as they are great to listen to on my trips to Geelong.

As a math nerd my favorite movie has to be "Life of π"

What was the ratio of the circumference to the diameter of the Death Star?

I still remember waiting in line with a friend to get in to see 'Star Wars'. What a thrill that was in fact we were both so taken by it that as soon as the 400 feet super 8 reel became available we both rushed and purchased that. Mind you before the days of VCR this was a very expensive purchase but many hours were spent on movie nights watching and rewatching the 20mn long edited version!

I nearly forgot to drop in! Interestingly, my very first event was a "May the Fourth be with you" one back in 2015. If I remember, it rained and the half dozen or so of us there were huddled under the lone picnic shelter in a park up Wyong way.

May the fourth be with us all!

Hi Thomo
May the 4th be with you as you enjoy "The Rambo Series"
But "They drew first blood, SIR!!"
TFTC and cheers
OldSaint

BTW, after watching all 11 movies chronologically, I recommend watching the original 3 first, then going chronological. The original 3 are VERY MUCH spoiled by the ones before. No surprise of Darth Vade's relation to Luke, who that little green creature is on Dagobah, etc, etc.

Star Wars/A new Hope
Empire Strikes back
Return of the Jedi
Phantom Menace
Attack of the Clones
Revenge of the Sith
Solo
Rogue One
(repeat original 3 if you like here)
Force Awakens
Last Jedi
Rise of Skywalker

Home schooling today
thank you for the opportunity to celebrate May the fourth be with you before my birthday tomorrow.

I was first introduced to Star Wars when a small child about the same time Return of the Jedi was released. Very shortly after seeing the movie, I found myself listening to Return of the Jedi on cassette with my blind cousin. I was fascinated by it so my dad copied it and I listened to it over and over and over. When binge watching all 11 movies chronologically 2 weeks ago I discovered I can still quote parts of the movie while watching it. haha. Return of the Jedi is still my fave movie. And the Ewoks are still my fave race/creature. Fun fact: I lived in a 'Goonda Street' for a bit. It didn't look or taste like food though. haha.

Naturally I introduced my 4 children to Star Wars at an early age. They are all huge fans. My eldest, a cosplayer who sews most of her own costumes and designs feminine versions of male characters, did a Kylo photo shoot on the weekend. My new and only grandson (to another daughter) is rocking a star wars outfit today. I never do normal Christmas Trees - I think they are overrated. So this last Christmas, in honor to me, my 3rd daughter bought a Boba Fett garden ornament from Bunnings, painted it green and wrapped it in fairy lights. And my Son's wife bought him a lego Millennium Falcon for his birthday last year. We both had a bit of fun playing with it one visit. haha.

Food for thought for Star Wars fans: The Mandalorian - is the title referring to the main character in the first season, the culture of the Mandalorians in general, or as The Child was adopted into the Mandalorians, is it actually referring to it??? Shocked

I hope you enjoy the attached pictures.

Another relaxing day today, have to go to a few zoom meetings though!
Star Wars is a great franchise, plenty of fantastic movies in there!
I also saw another log referencing Spaceballs which is equally as good.
Thanks to thomo31 for this locationless event!

I for one am not a Star Wars fan, so I am stepping in and logging for us Trekkies out there!
Photo is of myself during a Star Trek Cosplay photo shoot taken a few years ago. I was cosplaying as a Dax x Vulcan in an Original Series Science/Medical uniform while making Kirk and Spock fight.
Fun fact! The Spock pictured is non other than my movable cache: The Search for Spock who was last seen in Ireland Mr. GreenMr. Green

Great idea for a cache!

Like a lot other people, I am a fan of the Stars Wars movies and Return of the Jedi would be my fav. Episodes 4-6 get my nod as the best 'set' if you like, however if I was ever stuck at home for a prolonged of period, I could sit and watch all 9 movies in the series without wanting to escape. Any movies to do with space are usually (no, not always) good to watch with the Matt Damon 'The Martian' always good for a re-watch.

Thanks Thomo31 for the event and the chance for the old, but cool saying....May the Fourth be with you. Very HappyVery Happy

It has just gone 9am on the 4th May 2020.
There are so many great series "Star Wars" for example and movies including "Summer of 42" and "Grease" that I have seen with so many great actors including "Denzil Washington" and "Tom Hanks".
I have decided to go way back to a suburban theatre at Adamstown in Newcastle. Probably early 60's on the BIG Screen sitting in the front row and the film was "BEN HUR".
Wow, I was in the Chariot with them. What an amazing production and presentation with so many great actors.

04-May-20
I have not liked many Stars Wars movies, lately we have been watching Karate Kid movies on 73 that along with many others are great to see again, Lady in Red, Forest Gump, Rain Main and many others.
Thanks to Thomo31 for placing this virtual event. ClappingDancingI'm a Laaaaaaaady, duh!Clan Griffin
It is now 9.00 am EST I can log. Very Happy

Spaceballs (1987) remains one of our most remembered space theme movies. We saw it repeatedly as a family and loved the characters and the flying Winnebago. Our four kids were so attached to the movie that they remembered the script and on occasions would recite it from beginning to end, taking specific roles each time. The movie caught their imagination and their enthusiasm.

Mr and Mrs y'stassie are not great fans of recent space theme movies but remembered 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968). The opening scenes of waltzing through space and the name HAL being ROT25 of IBM are aspects that remain vivid in our recollections of this Stanley Kubrick foray into screen effects which set the path for many to follow.

May you all celebrate May the Fourth in a enjoyable day. Thanks thomo31 for the Event.

May the force be with you is probably one of thr most remembered lines from a movie ,the original were such a mastero=oiece at the time and my favourite TFTC

May the 4th be with you! I’m old enough to have seen the original movies when they first came out, but I was just a kid so it didn’t all make sense. Now I have my own kids and it’s them who make sense of the whole storyline. As for the best viewing order, I’m still conflicted about it so I’m not going to set a preference in stone. I recently watched Solo, and although purists think this side movies are unnecessary, I enjoyed it and it helped with a lot of context. Clan Cerberus

I am so looking forward to another day of GA caching. We have had lots of jigsaws, challenges, and very creative games, so much to keep us occupied.
No time to turn on the telly or watch a movie. My telly hasn’t been turned on since the third of April, there’s so much GA to do.
But if I did watch a space movie it would be the original Star Wars.
My favourite in that was Chewbacca,
Thanks for this Event, May the fourth be with you.
Thankyou for your hospitality Thomo31

Star Wars! Yes please. May the power of the 4th be with us all tomorrow.

I've got a really great feeling about this.
