Description
The 106th cache by caughtatwork overlooks the Werribee Gorge
Five hundred million years of geological history - from ancient folded sea-bed sediments through glacial material to relatively recent lava flows - have been revealed in the Gorge by the down cutting action of the Werribee River, accelerated in the past million years by the formation of the Port Phillip sunkland along the Rowsley Fault.
You won't be in a position to see these geological features from GZ as you are in a position to look over the gorge towards the Pentland Hills in the distance. If you look carefully you will see cars on the Western / Ballarat Freeway.
There are a few other caches in this area so take the time to find them as well. They are very much worth the stroll.
Carparking for this cache is excellent, only some 100m or so from GZ. When you park you will see which way your GPS is pointing. There an easy access track to the area so look for the access point marked by two pine poles. Otherwise feel free to struggle up the very steep embankment.
When you get to GZ you should have no problems at all finding the cache and then you can admire the views across the Werribee Gorge.
This cache forms part of my Campaign Against The Small.
There are a plethora of small and micro caches appearing around the traps and I believe it's always nice to find a larger sized cache. The cache you seek is a 2 liter sistema container which has been enclosed in an ammo can for long term protection. The cache is not hard to find but if you get stuck the hint is a giveaway.
I hope you enjoy your visit to the Werribee Gorge.

Followed those instructions and took the easier option up the old track. Know this area well as I have done a log of bushwalking trips here. Thanks caughtatwork
We over shot the start of the track so it was a short scramble up the bank to GZ where we found the big sistema hidden as per hint - there was no protecting ammo can. Given the cache was placed in 2009 it is still in pristine condition and well stocked. After replacing the cache container we enjoyed the view from this high point. The sandstone rock formations were interesting. As the bank was slippery and many of the rocks loose we decided to walk back along the little track - an enjoyable stroll even with rain threatening. We found the poles mentioned at the start of the track - how could we have missed them.
Thanks for this cache Caughtatwork. We have promised ourselves that we will return to explore the gorge and look for some more caches hidden in this area.
We are currently touring Victoria with our geovan in tow, using geocaching as a guide. We have visited many amazing locations through geocaching and your cache [CATS] - Over Werribee Gorge was one we visited along the way.
Many thanks Caughtatwork for publishing this cache for our enjoyment and adding to our geocaching experience today. Cache and contents were in excellent condition.

I'd been trying to escape the house the entire four-ish day weekend, but family and work drama just kept popping up at the most inopportune moments (as they usually do... I defy anyone to suggest an opportune moment). This morning, I was tetchy enough to climb the walls. Well, Ingliston Gorge near enough qualifies.
This cache was a bonus after completing the Noah's Lark series, found in the last rays of sunlight, just after a train had passed close by.
Thanks for a nice big one, C@W... TNLN, as, tempting as it was, the girls have quite enough writing and drawing instruments already.
GCA#111
Was making my way out to the Gorge and the Ark series.
I struggled up the hill and found the cache fairly quickly.
Then slid own beofr emoving on.

Use to live a little further up this road, in the days before caching and have driven this road a few times. Cache in good nic.....
Thanks for the cache C@W...
TNLNSL. Thanks caughtatwork.
The pine poles mentioned in the cache notes didn't readily appear - so it was 'up the side'!
This was our final CATS/GA cache for the day and the view did not disappoint.
This type of hide certainly keeps everything in the generously stocked cache in mint condition.
TNLN . . SL . . Thanks for the hunt caughtatwork.
Great views from up here. I must come back and do some of the walks into the park that start here.
Thanks for bringing me here.
Find number 13 out of 16 in the wet today. Made the mad scramble to the top in the drizzle (definitely not the way to get to the cache!). Top cache in a great spot. Thanks again c@w!

Couldn't leave that un-touched!
A quick clamber and the cache was uncovered.
Signed the log and admired the view.

I was caching my way west towards Ballan after attending an event earlier in the day - but the weather was starting to turn a bit nasty, so I decided to skip a couple of the higher terrain caches around here, as I didn't want to get too far from the car without some good weatherproofing at hand. This cache, luckily, was less than 100m from a parking spot and I was able to quickly scuttle up the hill, find and log it and get back before I got too wet. It was another excellent offer by c@w and made me wish I was into swapping! The nearby rail line must offer some interesting views along here - I'd like to check it out sometime too.

Thanks again caughtatwork - today's efforts took my GCA finds past 50!
This cache has us seeing more of the area than was necessary having decided that the cache was on the other side of the train tracks. We parked at an obvious spot and saw the necessary items mentioned in the clue so up the trail we went. Once at the top of the hill we were concerned that we were on the side of the rail line, we though it did not seem right so walked all the way back down again before relocating to the correct side of the bridge. Tried the direct straight up approach and was rewarded with finding the cache where there was some great views then took the longer way back down.

Thanks for another great caching experience C@W
