Description

Somewhere to stop and take a break from driving

We stopped here for lunch while travelling from Moree to Nambour, as there were no caches for about a 100 km either side of this little town on our route, I thought I should break the drought and leave one behind.
The cache is hidden on a piece of equipment once used to harvest the field in Moonie.
Moonie is famous for being the site of Australia's first commercial oil field and still pumps 35KL of crude oil a day.
I hope you enjoy your break from the road whilst driving from somewhere to somewhere else.
There are picnic tables, nice lawn, water & a playground for the kids very close.
There's also shop & pub across the road.
You're looking for a 35mm film container.

#GA5591 - 16:05; Day two of the Townsville Mega adventure with Sol de lune. The plan for the day is to cache our way north Walgett on a round about route via Lightning Ridge, Hebel, Diranbandi, St George and Moonie on to Surat. Plenty of water lying around and flowing down the Balonne River. Luckily we avoided any road closures, unlike our previous foray north when we had an unanticipated night in Goondawindi, but that's a whole other story. No problems today as we collected caches along the way, including this one. Sdl had found this one on an earlier visit, so he sat back while I rummaged around to find the cache and add my name to the log! TFTC bucketeer Very HappyClan Cerberus

Pulled in for a rest and to get out of the RV. Didn't really need the GPS to find the field harvester and the cache was found easily with the hint. All good with the cache... it had one of the driest, crispest logs we've found in a while. It started raining but we went for a walk around Moonie. Always fun to find quirky things you miss by driving through.. the pink yabbie was by far the most unmissable but the Moonie Madness poem is a great bit of country humour. Didn't check out Austraiia's biggest feral pig collection...... Shocked TFTC bucketeer.

Continuing our journey south we stopped here at this impressive piece of machinery. As Trekkers and machinery don’t mix well we were surprised when we made a quick find.

Found. Missing lid and didn’t have one that would fit to replace. Lovely spot for lunch along the road.

Heading through to Chinchilla for the night and stopped by for this one on the way past. Didn't take long and the cache was soon in hand...and with the log signed, the cache was replaced and we were on the road again.

Thanks Bucketeer.....a neat spot to check out.

Travelling home after visiting my son I chose to go via Gundawindy. Stopped in Moonie for fuel which at $1.14 litre was the best value apart from Perthville near Bathurst. I look for traffic when purchasing diesel so cost per litre in this case a bonus. Walked across the road, took a few photos & found the cache sans the lid. Hunted around but couldn't feel it. Thanks for placing the cache.

After a night across the road in the camping area we wandered over here to find this cache. The lid has more or less crumbled away but hopefully it will remain dry in it's hidey hole. TFTC!

Not quite where the location says...however, a great spot to stop and good hide!

Good hide. I found either the old machine had been moved or wrong co-ordinates. So, look for a bit further north. On display near the road. Shocked

FTF at 0930. Quick find. The most obvious place is not always the best place to look. I am a FAN of these machinery exhibits as they show an areas historic past.
