Urangan Pier at Hervey Bay. We spent a wonderful week in the area and enjoyed the long walk out on the pier, finding a could of caches along the way.

The pier was built between 1913 and 1917, originally to a length of 1124 metres. The pier was closed in 1985, and 239 metres of it was demolished. However, due to public outcry, 868 metres of the pier was left, and the land was given to the Hervey Bay City Council (now the Fraser Coast Regional Council)

By 2009 the last 220-metre section of the pier had been fully restored, and the original timber pylons had been replaced with steel pylons with a plastic covering

Queenstown wharf, NZ during high water in the lake. There was a 1.5T cache under the wharf. I visited several times, but I would have needed to get very wet, and each visit the water was higher, until at the end snorking gear and a wet suit would have been the go! It would have been necessary to dive under and then up under the wharf. Too cold for me and it was a DNF. TFTC corunnaroad.

Our jetty photo is Wirrulla Jetty in inland South Australia.
The town decided they wanted a jetty so they built one and it is incorporated in to the local golf club and is actually the tee off point for the 5th hole.
The locals tell you the one good thing about this jetty is that the tide is always out!!!
It can be found at S32 24.178 E134 31.992.
There used to be a cache under the jetty but don't know if it's still there.
Thanks.

After getting home from our road trip from over east I had to have minor surgery (and more planned a few weeks later) so I decided we would go away. Headed north for a 10 day break heading up to Shark Bay and working our way south along the coast.

Hi corunnaroad
This was one of my favourite places when I lived in Taranna on the Tasman Peninsula
I used it to come in from fishing for lunch when on the bay, as I only lived across the road
Once lunch was done, back in the boat for more fishing - AH!! The taste of fresh Flathead in fresh bread smothered in butter
NOTHING like a Flathead sandwich
I also hid my first cache at its land end, well almost - "BAY VIEW"
TFTC, the memories and cheers

We have a fantastic jetty on our coastline here in Busselton, WA.
It served as a working jetty back in its day.
Though after Cyclone Alby destroyed a fair portion of the jetty, and a fire out in the end, the jetty came under disrepair.
It has been restored and is now a major tourism destination with an underwater observatory at the end.
Plenty of room for fishing, train rides out to the end, the kids live jetty jumping during summer but the wild weather is bringing in a lot of sea weed around the jetty at the moment.
Thanks for the Locationless Cache.

Point Lonsdale Victoria...

The pier is just around a corner from a neat little power trail of 20 Geocaching Australia caches. There is also the Point Lonsdale Lighthouse where you can claim a virtual as well as a trig name Point Lonsdale. So apart from the jetty, there are a few other reasons to visit as well.

Thanks Corunnaroad...surprise there wasn't one for this subject before.

This photo was taken for another cache but will re use it here. Urnagan Pier/Jetty.
From Wikipedia.
Urangan Pier is a historic pier in Urangan, Hervey Bay, Queensland, Australia.

It is a former deep-water, cargo-handling facility originally built to facilitate the export of sugar, timber and coal. The pier, served by the extension of the railway line from Pialba, was used for the transfer of cargo between rail and ships. It was built between 1913 and 1917,] originally to a length of 1107 metres. The pier was closed in 1985, and 239 metres of it was demolished. However, due to public outcry, 868 metres of the pier was left, and the land was given to the Hervey Bay City Council (now the Fraser Coast Regional Council).

By 2009 the last 220-metre section of the pier had been fully restored, and the original timber pylons had been replaced with steel pylons with a plastic covering.
