Description
How handy are you or someone in your household? For this simple cache all you have to do is post a photo of some nifty gadget that has been made at home so life is easier for you. It may be one for the kitchen; the garden; to help with geocaching; for picnicing or camping. Go for it and show off how clever that person is, and maybe even tell the story behind the gadget and the maker. It should be homemade, not a commercially produced item that has been assembled at home.

As the geocache no longer meets the requirements we will archive the cache listing.

This bit of wood goes under the metal bar drilled into the wall and is used to crush the plastic drink bottles so they take up less space. Not a fancy gadget but it works.

We have many gadget around the place. I'm a fitter by trade and usually if I need something in a hurry, I will try to knock something up here.
I wanted to hang our brooms up in the back porch, so I repurposed a left-handed bail claw. Nailed it to the wall and now our brooms hang out of the way.
Thanks for the nifty cache Smittengranny.

My husband made this shelf from some pieces of wood which are threaded on some pipe. I am not very crafty.
One thing that Mr Shifter has made that gets used quite a bit camping and at home is a 'cauldron' made from a 9kg gas cylinder, the perfect place for a fire, and a perfect fit for a camp oven.
Thanks for the cache Smittengranny.
Thanks for the cache Smittengranny.
All I kept hearing.
Pick your shoes up, don't leave them there.
Theres no more room.
So I solved the problem.
Built a shoe shelf.
Now there's no shoes on the floor in the garage!.

A quirky little cache as part of today’s challenges. This one took some thinking! Most of my fun gadets are in the Triton which I can’t access right atm. So instead I thought I would share my home made bath pillow lol it has been such a blessing since my shoulder surgery . It has been a time when comfort has been a top priority! Thanks for the chance to share our crazy inventions. Thanks for the cache!

Made this timber lattice a few years back. Hot saucepans off the hotplate used to go on bench tops or wooden cutting boards... not anymore with this amazing construct.. thanks..!!

When our youngest daughter wanted to build some retaining walls using blocks, she had to put in a foundation of 150mm depth of compacted road base. Normally a mechanical compactor would be hired for a day or so but as the walls were going to be built over an extended period, hiring was not practical. So Mr y'stassie constructed a manual compactor consisting of heavy blocks of timber to which was connected a pick handle. There was sufficient weight in the head to compact the road base but our slight daughter (about 48kg) was still able to lift and use without any difficulties. About 80m of retaining walls were constructed and each was either 3, 4 or 5 blocks high. It is now over 6 years since the walls have been built and there has been absolutely no movement. This testifies to well built walls on a very compacted foundation. The "home made" compactor did an excellent job. The photo added to the Gallery shows Mrs y'stassie next to the compactor in front of one of the lower walls that was constructed. Thanks Smittengranny for the cache.

Maybe Pa was sick of having to help me take my muddy boots off before I came inside, or maybe he was in one of his creative moods. Whatever the reason he made me this fabulous gadget that just makes removing muddy boots so easy. My hands are still clean after I manage to get the boots off ever so effortlessly.
Another nifty thing Mr Beetle has made is this rubbish bag holder. We have one in the kitchen cupboard and one in the caravan.
Now Australia is plastic bag free I have to go to the IGA supermarket to get bags that fit it though.
Not claiming this as a find as have already done this one.
Thanks.

We live in a part of Tasmania that has beautiful red soil, only trouble is that after rain I leave the vegie garden a few inches taller. So Mr Beetle made me this boot scraper to get rid of the bulk of the mud from my gumboots.
Thanks.
Thanks.
MrGt54 made this gadget for MrsGT54 to give some extra height for when she is doing some of her craftwork. It has come in handy a few times. TFTC

Well this is an interesting. Just went to the shed and picked up my SAC. It is so simple. We have 6 external Solar Powered Security lights and the birds like to dirty them so instead of grabbing the ladder each time I just use this
Dunk the brush in warm soapy solution then just walk up to the area near the solar panel and clean it from the ground. Works. So simple. Oh SAC is my new name for it Solar Array Cleaner.
For the 22 real Solar Panels on the roof I will get a professional in to clean them but only 6 months since installation so do not need a clean yet. TFTL

Thanks for this interesting entry today Smittengranny in the Unique Alphabet Challenge GA15926
This double sided toasting fork was made with a very long handle by Muggle Hubby for our scouting camps.
The fire was generally too hot to sit close to toast your bread.
And cooking two at once was double the pleasure.

Best I can do is this table I put together to cover our outside fridge and freezer. Bought the separate components (legs and table top) and then worked out the height to ensure that when the legs were attached there was still enough room for the items to fit underneath. The table also acts a good prep area for BBQ's.
Thanks Smittengranny for the challenge in the A-Z of todays caches.

Our best gadget that we made together was our outside fire.
It was a challenge as we weren’t able to go to Millicent this year.
We only have air conditioning for heating at home, to add to the best use of our back verandah this winter was making this outdoor fire, it comes with all the gadgets, a gadget for stoking the fire, an improvised oven box on top (it was going to be a cache - before someone else got to it ), great for making pizzas. Now he had to make a pizza cutter, and a pizza paddle. As soon as I find the photos for these extra gadgets, I’ll add them.
Now we have a multi purpose outdoor camping fire as the grandies have also been seen to be toasting marshmallows.
Oh and the kettle stays on top, that’s when we aren’t cooking tea )
It’s made our time during covid19 much easier with this outside
Thanks for the Locationless Cache
