Description
Located at turning point to some amazing history of the region
Located off to side of road before you head down to Lark Quarry to marvel at the record of 5 minutes of time some millions of years ago recorded in the ground.
Once upon a time this region was a sea and tropical, hard to believe when now it is dry, dusty and rocky.
Please make sure container is put back in location well to keep it hidden but still able to be found.

In the area for 3 days and today is the first day in ages that the road out to Lake Quarry has been open and also the Dinosuar Stampede centre.
The road today was marked 4WD only but a high clearance 2WD would have made it through the mud holes. Saw the pile of rocks in a most likely spot on approach and the cache was soon in hand. A little water in the container which I drained. Log Book dry. Signed a replaced where and how found and rearranged the rocks a little.

Travelling around Australia and currently visiting outback Queensland.
After visiting Lark Quarry we stopped here to look for the cache on our way out. The rocks that were hiding the cache were still there so we added a new cache and signed the log.

We looked hard for this one - even dug down a bit in case.
Turned every stone. No luck.

Found on the Central Qld leg of our Round Aust trip, - see blog, mrlocks.tumblr.com
Well we decided to look for this our our way out from seeing the stampede dinosaur prints.
Charlie spotted the likely place from the car and headed straight to it, he was having a bit of a problem so I jumped out to check out what was going on
Well we had to do a bit of excavating of our own, the cache was buried in a layer of mud quite deep and the container was broken and had filled with mud.
We got it our and the contents are pretty much ruined with the log book all stuck together.
I found a replacement container in the car, a screw top plastic tub and salvaged the pencil, I put in some new log sheets in then placed the plastic tub inside an old milo tin. The new cache container is placed back in the original spot with a pile of rocks on top.
So if you are going to find this cache you will need a tool to open the milo tin, ie. spoon, flat bladed screw driver, coin or key head.
I have saved the old log book, if you like let me know your postal address and I can post it to you. The swaps were pretty much ruined but I have cleaned them up a bit and I might drop them in a cache with no swaps along the way.

This was the last of the dinosaur places for us on our three week school holiday tour of QLD. The kids are all wanting to become paleontologists now! The drive down from Winton was a little hairy in our 2wd and we prayed it wouldn't rain while we were here so we could negotiate our way back again.
I didn't see the cache at first, even though there was really only one place for it to be, because it was under about an inch of dirt. I just noticed a tiny bit of the corner just poking out of the dust and started excavating. I had to fight off the giant ants that had made a home on top of it as I went. Sadly the container lid has disintegrated somewhat along the edge and water had entered the cache and saturated the log. I dried it as best I could and replaced everything but it will likely get wet again in the next rain. Unfortunately I had left our spare containers in the caravan back at Winton.
The dinosaur trackway would be even more amazing if they ever uncover the rest. Thanks for placing a cache here.
