Description
A cache placed on Whyte Hill, upon which sits the Luina receiving station and two brand new lookout viewing platforms. These offer splendid views of the Tarkine region; a panorama of forested hills retreating into the hazy mists of western Tasmania.
This is a drive-by with a nice new carpark, no need for any arduous hiking. The lower platform is wheelchair accessible, the higher one where the cache is placed is not. There is a space in the parking area for buses, so presumably tour buses will be operating out here.
Logs
Day 4 of a west coast sojourn. Came this way from Corinna because the FatMan barge was in dry dock this week ! Anyway got quite a few logs done between Corinna and Fossey River rest stop. Found neatly snugged away with just enough tell-tale rock placements to lead us to it. All in good dry condition. quite a while between finds. Thanks Hookline for this cache.
While Geo Kid O went to the GC cache I went to this cache. Took me a little while to find as I was on the wrong side. Thank you for the cache Hookline

3 days off from work, and Geo Kid O joined me on a journey to Stanley and then down along the western explorer road towards Corinna. We have a great time finding a number of caches and driving a road I had not travelled on before.
The Western Explorer road was closed for a while and recently had been reopened with a new bridge near Balfour. Some very interesting sights along the way, with part of the road feeling more like a forest track, and other parts felt like a place where no one else has gone in the past, other than on the road. The open button grass plains were amazing along with the mountain views.
We stayed in Stanely, and the caches in and around Stanely were very good, including one walk to the top of the Nut. Gee that is a steep 400 metre walk.
Thank you for the cache which was part of our journey

Hi and thanks for the cache.
Taking advantage of the Hobart show public holiday, and making a 4 day geocaching trip West, and then North West, with AlbyDangles.
This is one we found along the way - sadly no views as the weather had closed in, but this has to be the best conditioned 'old' cache that I've ever found, in such conditions! A great hide.
Cheers, EPs.

Stopped in for this one with our little group after the Oz Day event, a quick find then on our way. The views were amazing, I love the places Caching takes us we might not otherwise find. TFTC
We dtove up a nice road that wasn't on any of our maps, to the lookouts up here. A quick find by stainless-steel-rat while we were out with TazScout. Great views!
this was a quick find and we took in the views, this is a great plavce to visit for the views.
Thanks for the cache.

It's been a while between drinks for this one - as you would expect for a remotish GCA (& unlike our previous GCA find nearby!) Top views to be had from both lookouts. All good at GZ. TFTC.
Travelling around Australia and spending a few months in Tasmania.
Leaving our caravan in Waratah we set off in the Geocruiser towards Corinna. We grabbed a coupe of caches along the way but decided to grab most caches on the way back.
Grabbed this one on the way in the drizzle.

okay so GPS was jumping and cldnt decide exactly where gz was so after searching in a spot already searched half an hour beforehand (we really were determind to find it) we finally got lucky but not before a quik shower of rain dampened us and the breeze dried us again. Everything in good condition, we took nothing just signed and replaced.
We had observers for this one - a group out for some walking and touring. We didn't have time to wait until they were gone, and as I knew one of the members I told them all about geocaching and they were very interested.

Oops, a belated log, I actually found this on the weekend we went west with Wilco, Red Tag and Old Saint. Somehow missed logging this cache. It was a nice cache location with good views. Thanks hookline.
Two caches in nearly the same spot made this a worthwhile place to pull over for a few minutes.
Stunning views and luckily the skies were clear so I could take some great pictures.
Thanks for the cache Hookline. The road up and the walkway to the cache makes it a very civilised way to go caching

Hi hookline
Anne and I left for the West Coast about 0810hrs on Monday staying in Queenstown over night. Yesterday we spent the night at Zeehan. Today, day three of the West Coast tour, saw us leave Zeehan, visit Rosebery, Tullah, Waratah and Savage River; staying the night at Burnie.
This cache was the seventh on the agenda for today.
Arrived at the car park and proceeded to look for the cache. I was a little luckier with the weather here as the rain abated for most of the search.
Due to my GPS not working properly at the start of my search, I am not going to tell you how I got to ground zero; only to mention that it was not along the path way, but that was the way I returned to the car.
However, once at the right spot, a very quick find and this cache was extracted, the log signed and the cache replaced as found at 1425hrs this afternoon.
We absolutely loved ground zero and the surrounding views even though very misty. Anne learnt a lot about the forest and the Tarkine. Thanks for bringing us here.
No sight of leeches this afternoon unlike yesterday; when they seemed to be every where I searched for a cache.
Found five caches in total for day one. Day two, eleven caches found. The third day has coffed up nine cache finds and two "Did Not Finds" but I think those two caches maybe missing in action. Have had a better time watching Anne's face as she got a better look at the West Coast. She's loved Nelsons Falls, Strahan, the Museum at Zeehan and the falls at Waratah.
Thanks for the cache and the fun of the find
Cheers OldSaint.

An easy find on a beautiful spring day. The views were superb. Didn't know this place existed, wonderful the places caching takes you! TFTC
Would love to have found this on a bright sunny day. The Tarkine is a stunning area even on a mizzly, drizzly day like today. Tasmania is so good at providing great lookouts and very well maintained walking trails.......but then she has so much natural beauty to put on display. All sensible snakes were snug inside their homes today so a quick (and safe ) find. Took 4 screws and left nail clippers. Many thanks hookline for bringing us here.

Heading up into the cloud for this one. Views would normally be great one would assume but today all that one could see was mist. Cache located and log signed and off down into the mist we went once again. Thanks for the cache
Have been here BC when it was just a Telstra tower and Box. Even though there were no mobile phone antenna on this repeater station, sometimes it was possible to make a call (via Victoria!!!) on the analog phone.
This place has changed quite a lot since my last visit some 16 years ago. I think the views would be awesome - today it was very misty and all I could see was the power pole just below the lookout.
TNLN, thanks for showing me this improvement and the cache.

A quick find as the sun came out from behind the clouds - an excellent view from the vantage point. TFTC
Fair breeze blowing and way too misty to see far, but there is plenty of potential at this lookout. TNLN SL. TFTC

Just as well I came to this cache before going off to do others...as FTF would have gone by then it seems. Great views from here....must say the walkways are of a high standard as well as access road etc which is really pleasing. Seems as if the local authorities down here are doing quite a bit for Tourism...great to see. TFTEC Hookline....Cheers.
