Description
This cache has been created to draw attention to A small bridge with an interetesting history in the Kingborough region..
To solve this puzzle, google will be your friend.
The Vincents Rivulet Bridge was the first composite beam bridge designed in Australia by ??? and was built by the Public Works Department in 1932. The bridge was placed on the Historic Engineering Register and dedicated by The Institute of Engineers, Australia and The Royal Society of Tasmania.
"Composite action: When the bridge is loaded, the effect of joining the concrete deck to the underlying steel girders is to develop a compressive stress in the concrete and a corresponding tensile stress to the girders.
This makes better use of the strengths of those materials.
The bridge: The single lane trial bridge had a 10.4 m span and 3.6 m width. When the bridge was tested with a loaded truck, the measured deflections, as predicted, were much smaller than for a non-composite beam bridge in which the concrete and steel carry the load independently." (taken from GA7579}.
To obtain the coordinates:
A = The number of letters in christian name of engineer who designed the bridge?
B = The number of letters in surname of engineer who designed the bridge?
C = The day of the month the bridge plaque was unveiled in numeral form?
D = The month the bridge plaque was unveiled in numeral form?
E = The year the bridge plaque was unveiled added to a single digit?
F = The number of letters combined in the christian and surname of the Governor who unveiled the plaque?
S42 57. (B - C) (F - B) E E147 18. (F - E) (D - (B + C + E) ) (A + C)
Happy hunting. There is a gift for the FTF which I hope to see placed as a hide.

Was out and about and noticed a puzzle that I hadnt worked out. Stopped for lunch, and quickly worked out where the cache was.
A slight detour on the way home, and I had the cache in hand.

Out and about this afternoon with EeePees finding some caches before picking up dinner in Kingston.
First, a joint FTF and then some more that EeePees had already found.
Thanks again,

i was out when this was published, but not too far away, just a little further south from home.
got home, read the notification, and decided to head out with KingSmev, who was busy on google as i drove.
arrived, parked near GZ, as was rewarded with a nice quick find.
thanks for the nifty FTF prize, yes, we shall hide it soon!
this is obviously a first-of-its-kind bridge, and the document we found online was both extensive and informative.
enjoyed reading the history, thanks!
