Description
Along the Snug to Margate shared path (STMSP); one of a series that KingSmev and I are creating.
This one is a little off the path; near one end of the Dave Burrows walk - a nice track that follows the foreshore back to Margate near the wharf.
The Snug to Margate shared path provides a safe and natural corridor for bikes, prams, walkers and joggers to enjoy between. It was an idea driven by the community following consultation in 2012, to create a safe and easy connection between the two towns.
Walking and cycling are healthy and economical ways to get around, and this path will be beneficial for visiting family and friends, shopping or playing in either town, hopping onto nearby tracks, or for relaxation. The path provides many opportunities to explore rural and coastal areas along the way. The three-metre width of most of the path has been designed to ensure there is ample room for enjoyment and multiple users.
Do NOT park on the highway. There is parking at both the Margate and Snug ends; as well as a few other opportunities along the way to pull well off safely. This is a very busy and not so wide highway, so please take care. As it turns out, there is plenty of parking here on the deviation road (the old highway).
You're looking for a hanging silver bison - watch out for muggles; they come from all directions, joggers, walkers and cyclists; as well as vehicular traffic here!
Oh, and you'll need your own writing stick.
Happy hunting and enjoy the path, however you choose to travel it.
