Description

A cache placed for the 2020 Game of Games

Rock, in geology, naturally occurring and coherent aggregate of one or more minerals. Such aggregates constitute the basic unit of which the solid Earth is composed and typically form recognizable and mappable volumes. Rocks are commonly divided into three major classes according to the processes that resulted in their formation.

These classes are (1) igneous rocks, which have solidified from molten material called magma; (2) sedimentary rocks, those consisting of fragments derived from preexisting rocks or of materials precipitated from solutions; and (3) metamorphic rocks, which have been derived from either igneous or sedimentary rocks under conditions that caused changes in mineralogical composition, texture, and internal structure. These three classes, in turn, are subdivided into numerous groups and types based on various factors, the most important of which are chemical, mineralogical, and textural attributes.

Parking is available at S41 07.115 E146 05.846, where there is a walking track down to the beach is just over the trainline, please take care crossing the train line.

A drive today with Geo Kid O, with dual main purposes, to find enough points to qualify for the highest souvenir and to find a reverse cache to complete a challenge on GCA.

The day was a success with both purposes being achieved. No showers of any note made everything almost perfect. TFTC the cache

Quick walk to this cache - and surprisingly the cache was found earlier today by another cacher

Found this cache whilst out and about caching with whitewebbs and gooseandegg. Our starting point for an enjoyable day of caching.

A quick find here, thanks dez055

the first cache of many on a big day on the coast with whitewebbs and Tassie Trekkers. A quick find while the kids checked out the penguin footprints on the beach.

Today was the day to cache in Penguin with Tassie Trekkers and gooseandegg and this was the starting point for a day of fun. It has been such a long time since we have all cached together, probably at the OZGM at Cataract Park last July. Cache found and log signed. TFTC

We needed a find today to fill a gap on our caching calendar so after studying the map we decided we'd try for this one. A convenient parking spot and an easily spotted path to the beach had us at ground zero quickly. Accurate coordinates and a useful hint lead to a quick find of a well hidden cache. There were lots of fairy penguin tracks on the sand so we're guessing the penguin burrows in the greenery are probably all occupied. Thank you for the cache

We were making a trip to St Helens today and had to collect a package from Penguin before we left. Of course we couldn't drive passed this cache. Mrs Y'stassie was dropped at the parking coordinates while Mr Y'stassie made the pickup. She had no trouble negotiating the railway tracks and locating the path to the beach. An item mentioned in the hint was spotted and soon the well hidden cache container was located. The cache was in good condition and the coordinates were spot on.

Thanks for this cache Dez055. It is a very pleasant spot to visit, particularly at this time in the morning.

After finding Sister's Gadget we continued on to this cache.
We had let the dogs come along to the last cache but decided that Mrs Beetle would wait with them while Mr Beetle went and found this one.
A quick find of an appropriate container for here.
Thanks.
