Description

Not a very hard cache to find. The purpose of the cache is just to introduce you to this great area to explore

The gardens have been around for years. Our family only found out by acident. Dad took a wrong turn looking for a back way.

The location is open:
Monday to Friday 8.00 am to 3.30 pm
Saturday and Sunday 10.00 am to 4.00 pm
and closed on Public Holidays.

I have also been here when they are meant to be open, but the gates were closed.

The reception is a little patchy, and I do not want people distroying the location, so I am going to tell you exactly where the cache is. Cross the bridge, Find 55, behind it is a large rock, the cache is under the rock.

I hid this a few months back, however I lost the corodinates and took a while before I could retake them again. On two trips the place was closed when it should have been open.

Also GC21JPE Thanks Max GC is also nearby.

This one took quite a while to find, as I could not locate the 55 sign. I trusted GZ on my garmin and decided a small piece of wood might be the remnants of the said sign. Using the hint, I found the rock and found the cache. There are VERY large ants at the cache site, so beware. I have attached a photo that suggests that 165 is the number to look for now. These gardens are beautiful! TFTC

What a fabulous spot. I had already left Hornsby, my home as a child, when these gardens were opened 53 years ago. Congratulations to Hornsby Council for developing and maintaining these gardens.

What a fabulous spot. I had already left town by the time these gardens were opened 53 years ago . The gardens are well worth the visit without the cache but doubly so with the cache which I found to be in excellent condition

After getting here yesterday as the workers were coming out the gate, we had to return today to get the cache. A lovely spot and we walked all around for a look. Loved the water dragons and spotted a baby one too Very Happy

second one. Lach found this one, went crazy!

Visited for another reason as I expect the previous finder is a fake account, and sure enough there was no log from them in the logbook. But the cache itself is in good condition and waiting to be found (though once again the coords took me about 15 metres too far - the cache is just over the bridge, look immediately left for the 55 mentioned in the description and turn left).

I found the nearby GC cache some months ago and today enjoyed another visit to this serene place and picked up this one in the process. I was joined at GZ by an inquisitive Brush Turkey who scuttled off when I turned my head to see who/what was rustling behind me Smile. SL TFTC

Took the 3 geokids while the wife was working (she loves gardens but not caching). We found this during our GC cache-search, following the clear instructions straight to the cache, which is in good condition. TNLNSL TFTC!

Have rolled up here more than once in the last 6 months and the Gardens have been closed when they should have been open. Anyway, they were open this morning so I wandered in. Found the cache with a minimum of fuss.

Went on and did the other cache in the garden too. These Gardens were one of the best things I stumbled across when I moved to the area some years back. Thanks Supermoosie.

This is a gem of a place. Caches have brought me here twice. Nice camo, although nature is now doing its best to conceal the hide too. TFTC

3 rules I've learnt for Geocaching;
1. Don't always trust the equipment.
2. The hint helps, use it when needed.
And 3. always check for close GC/GCA cache after finding one.

I Found Thanx Max, walked back to my car, and then checked for some more close caches. Wait, What...Gardens of Lisgar, wasn't I just there, ohh damn. So a walk back down to find this GCA cache Brick Wall Followed descritpion to the letter and apart from a bush turkey at gz, I found cache quickly. SL. TNLN and replaced and left turkey in peace. My gps had 23m on it, so set a waypoint and have added co-ords in case someone needs it. You won't though. TFTC.

Although I've lived around here for a little while and known about Lisgar gardens, this was the first time I've been.

After finding that there was a cache in the gardens I planned when I'd give it a visit. So when the (muggle) girlfriend suggested to go to the gardens I had no objections. Since the clue was fairly comprehensive I left the GPS at home. After walking around for a while I bumped into a number 59 sign an knew I was close. We then continued down the gardens when I said I would 'run back up to the bathroom' Razz where I found and signed the cache in lightning quick time! LNTNSL

Thanks for this cache (nice camo by the way) an thanks for bringing me to this place that I otherwise probably wouldn't have visited!

18-Oct-10
Arrived at the famous Hornsby area gardens and left the GPSr in the car, because of the CO's excellent clue. I had visited here before, logging another cache, so already knew the area. Nevertheless, it took me some time to locate the 'Fashionata' at No. 55! There was no geographical map or index or anything to indicate where the various garden numbers were located. (Anyhow, the bridge mentioned by the CO is straight on after the sign-posted pathway down the 'Lower Gardens.'

Eventually locating the 'No. 55' sign, I soon had CIH. Cache container was in good shape and the contents were dry. TNLNSL.

Many thanks to SuperMoosie for this one.

And I highly recommend the Lisgar Gardens, especially in the spring!

The GPS wanted to take me a bit off the path so I read the description first and this lead to an much easier search. These are great gardens to spend some time in.

Thanks.

After grabbing the nearby GC mystery came across to grab this. Found it fairly quickly with the hint, luckily as the sat gods aren't kind under all those trees. Did a Rudi63 and dropped a GC coin in there not realising it was a GCA cache. Won't be up that way tomorrow but if nobody rescues it soon will try to get back to it next weekend. Thanks SuperMoosie.

Went for a Sunday walk through here with the family and found this one without using the GPS. Nice camo on the cache container. Took out the TB and will log that somewhere else. While there we checked on our nearby cache Thanks Max where the lid had been screwed on so tightly I could barely get it off. Not many finds on either cache here which is a pity seeing as it's one of the most beautiful parks in the Sydney region. Nice day out but removed three leeches so beware. Always carry salt!
Thanks!

Was in the area to see a friend, mind you I lived in Hornsby for 5 years and did not know this garden was here!
What a wonderful place, had to resort to the hint as the GPS reception was very bad, at least for me, it would not get any better than 15m accuracy.
Found the cache without problems left Olympic pins under the watchfull eye of the cache guardian, see photo!
