Description
Burns Reserve and Dog Beach is the location to find another ammo can by caughtatwork
The Altona Coastal Park lies at the mouth of Kororoit Creek. Most of the beach is fronted by 500 m wide sand flats, while the backing shoreline is composed of marsh and patches of sand. Only toward the southern end of the park, in the P.A. Burns Reserve, does a continuous beach form, still fronted by 300 to 400 m wide flats. The reserve terminates at an open, 30 m wide drainage easement, on the other side of which is Cresser Park. The park contains a large car park, boat ramp, yacht club and a small jetty. The narrow beach alternates with seawalls, while the tidal flats deepen off Cresser Park and are covered by seagrass, with numerous boats moored off the beach.
Dogs are permitted off leash and on the beach at Burns Reserve, so if you're in the mood for a doggy swim, bring your pooch along for some fun in the water before you both head off to find the cache.
The cache is a typical caughtatwork hide being a 2l sistema container hidden inside an ammo can disguised to match the surroundings.
The closest place to park is the carpark in front of the Pines Scout Camp, off Altona Road. It's a pleasant walk although at some times the smell of seaweed is quite strong. You only need to leave the well formed track with about 5-10m to go so this ache is also suitable for children.
Be aware that this area is a natural location for snakes, so please watch where you step and check the cache location for any slitheries before you extract the cache.

Logs
Checked on it a couple of times throughout the years and it's still healthy as ever.
A nice flat walk soon had us at GZ where we found a well stocked cache.
A busy area on a Saturday morning but GZ nicely hidden from them.
Only dismaying part of the experience here was passing quite a few full doggie bags in the bush! Why do they bother picking it up if they're only going to throw it somewhere else?
Thanks, our favourite container type to start the day!
Once at the location my GPS was telling me was right, I was very pleased to make a quick find. The ammo can was still as per the hint and the log was soon in hand. Still lots of stuff in the cache and all was very dry. Certainly a cache more cachers should check out. The shoreline just further down looked more like a good day in Northern Scotland than a bad day in Melbourne, but was cool to see all the same.
Thanks caughtatwork....cache all good.
I found it quickly and was able to make a clean getaway.
thanks for the experience. NINO
TNLNSL. Thanks caughtatwork.
TFTC c@w.
P-P was initially distracted by a piece of female underwear discarded near the cache. Focus back on the job and a well stocked cache was uncovered - what else do you expect from a G@W cache!
TNLN . . SL . . Thanks for the hunt caughtatwork.

We had 41 caches on the list, and while we pulled up stumps at cache 33 we did bag a number on the way back to Hawthorn so that the Physics Teacher could get over 40 caches for the night. J and I had already collected these. Not bad in 6.5 hours.
This cache was one of a number picked up in this area in one big walking circuit. At GZ we took a little time to find it, but it's still there a little further off the path than we thought.
It was a pretty good run I must say, with 34 in the bag tonight and many more for the Physics Teacher along the way back. Not bad considering we had to walk quite a distance for some of them.
One of the caches found along the fairly large circuit walk that we took. Took awhile to find this one but it was spotted by Physics Teacher. TFTC
A break in the showers provided us both the opportunity to enjoy this venue, as we are sure a dog would, if we had one!
Another one of our favourite containers found precisely where our GPSr was indicating.
We left our mark in the log and made no exchange.
Thanks once more Peter for providing us with a most enjoyable afternoons geo searching.
Romax.
We all enjoyed this stroll through this very pleasant reserve, especially the dog.
I was rather amused by the novel addition to the usual cache cover. A pair of pink nickers draped over the brush cover. Probably not the work of the hiding team. LOL
The added bonus was a Gnome nestled in with the usual magnificent piece of c@w cache engineering. I wonder what he thought of the shenanigans that led to the additional contribution to the cover.

Our thanks to caughtatwork for the cache and bringing us to this very pleasant location.

TFTC and the Montgomery.
Thanks.
On a day out trying to get on top of the Altona caches, I found myself at this one. After a nice walk, I came at GZ from, I think, an unusual angle and was surprised to not see the cache almost immediately. I've been pretty impressed with c@w's co-ords over a large number of caches and, when a quick scan around failed to produce any ammo cans, I checked the hint and then cast around a bit wider before spotting the hide. No-one else has complained of this, so I guess it was just my GPSr on the day - but it was showing 7m when it was at GZ, so I'm glad it wasn't a micro I was looking for. After doing my stuff, I headed further on for the Robmc cache and found the whole area a great place to be on a calm, sunny afternoon.

Thanks caughtatwork
A nice walk in the park after just getting up from night shift.
Thanks, Robmc.

Easy find, and will post a pic later of the friend i found.

A typical C@W hide!
Nice one caughtatwork!
Days don't get much better than this, out caching with my GLW, sun shining, walking down a track to find yet another 2 litre cache in an ammo can. Can't figure why some people would pass these caches by just because they are listed on GCA, on well each to thier own I guess, at least the quality of the swaps don't deteriorate too quick.

Many thanks C@W for making this day such great fun.

Had to come out and get this one, loooove the container! Cool place too - lots of people bringing their dogs to the beach on this hot arvo. Thanks caught@work!
