Description

Missing Numbers - Tutorial.

If you like your GA Cache Numbers to run consecutively, you will find there are many missing ones.

Sometimes, as recently happened, there was a challenge to publish jigsaws of football logos. If you went to the trouble of publishing one but somebody else had the same thing published before you, have you an unpublished cache number out of action.

It is possible to recycle those numbers.

Simply bring up the old cache in Edit mode, change the name, make a different type of cache, and you can alter everything about it, it will still have the same number, then Save it and Publish it

On your home page press Menu, My Cacher Space, and in the top left hand corner, Account.

There you will see all of the caches you have published.

Scroll down through these to the bottom of your list.

See the heading called Draft?

It will show you there If you have any unpublished that you can recycle.

To claim a log on this cache either show a screen shot of the bottom of your list showing no unpublished caches OR create a cache to put an unpublished number back into circulation.

Congratulations OldSaint on FTF

Logs

In line with amendments made to requirements for listing and finding a Locationess geocache, this geocache has been reviewed and found not be in line with the listing requirements.

https://wiki.geocaching.com.au/wiki/Locationless_cache
Armchair style Locationless caches where the finder is not required to explore the real world, identify a location and accompany the "Find" with photographic evidence are no longer accepted.
A Locationless cache listing must require the finder to locate an object or perform a task in the real world, collect the co-ordinates and log the find with accompanying photographic evidence.

The geocaching community would like to thank you for listing this Locationess geocache and congratulations to all that found this locationless geocache.

As the geocache no longer meets the requirements we will archive the cache listing.

Thanks to Cybergran for this tutorial.
We had a draft sitting ready for use but we have changed our minds about the theme after a visit to one of Zoos Victoria's sites.

Wow, there is so much on here we newbies still have to learn.
I found 2 old caches sitting there. One was going to be a History cache but we haven't worked out yet how to write them up and the other one seemed to be a double up of one of the Rainbow Hex caches we did early in October.....no idea how that happened Shocked
I have recycled the second cache with a locationless jigsaw puzzle.

We had originally created GA13136 through miscommunication. We wanted to set up our geocacher cache. Mrs y'stassie set it up and Mr y'stassie also set it up, creating a duplicate. For some reason we had not repurposed the duplicate previously. So yesterday we repurposed GA13136 as Rack Your Brains, a puzzle, and it was published. In the process we have qualified for this cache. Thanks Cybergran V for the cache and for encouraging us to "clean up" the only cache we had in our draft list.

Wow ~ an interesting find, here is our one from back in June.
It has been edited and published tonight to bring it back into circulation,

Over There - Somewhere in Tasmania! Locationless, Locationless, Locationless
By pood on 03-Nov-20. Waypoint GA15884

It was good to be able to keep the theme going with a Virtual Tour around Tasmania for the month of November with an older GA number.

I had a whole stack of these when we went into lockdown.
I think the first few times I used them a couple of cachers got a bit confused.
The numbers appeared to be way out of sequence.
This one also qualified for another of your caches today Val but two birds - one stone...

ga14557- Our Way Of Geocaching

My contribution and qualifying cache here is:
ga14557- My way of geocaching

I also have an even older unpublished listing named "My Gallery".
This is used as a store for images used in my caches and sometimes logs too.
You may occasionally notice that the image on the cache page does not appear in that cache's gallery, this is why.

Thanks Cybergran V

Thanks Cybergran v for this tutorial. I discovered an unpublished GA14818 that I had prepared back in April. I was only new to GCA and it was my first attempt to set up a cache. I obviously lost patience with this one.
I will recycle this one later in the week

As you will see from this cache number it should have been published in August. But I realised I had already used that code some time before, so made a new cache and forgot this one existed, until I was looking at my account, to demonstrate this cache for you.
I am looking forward to seeing some old numbers appearing to fill the gaps in my GA book.
