Description

Should be an easy find in an obvious spot in the rocks near the lookout.

I was wandering around with my son Shane, setting controls for his "Karn't Escape" rogaine to be held on 21 March 2010, and at various spots I had the thought "this would be a good spot for a cache, must get back here and place one". I prepared four caches and four sets of Finder's Cards, and was waiting for the rogaine to be run before placing the caches.

When I saw the publishing of the gca cache GA1722 2000 to 2010 = 10 years of Geocaching in Australia by Geocaching Australia (as described in the forum at 2000 to 2010 = 10 years of Geocaching in Australia) I decided to make two of them gca for the anniversary. They'll be placed well in advance, and published on the Anniversary Date of 18 May 2010.

The Kingsbury Drive Lookout isn't signposted, and most people don't even know of it's existence, but the view towards the coast is outstanding, and there is even a directional marker here, allowing me to claim a find of GA1396 Lookout, Which Direction? by greenegrass.

This cache is a drab camo'd small round plastic screw top container.

When trading items please consider trading up or trading even and leaving items that you would want to find, and please don't take the pen, pencils or sharpener. If you can't trade up or trade even I don't mind seeing TNLNSL in the log. Also please don't put the pen or pencils in the log book bag, it tends to destroy the watertight integrity.

Swaggies are not tradeable items. Please feel free to take them without making a trade, but please leave a note in the logbook and your online log, and do log them online. Grounspeak Trackables (geocoins and travel bugs) can NOT be logged into this cache, or any other GCA cache. Please don't drop any Grounspeak Trackables in this cache, and if you find any in this cache please remove them and log a "Grab it from somewhere else" log for the trackable.

I thought that this may have been muggled at first - with so much tissue paper around, but continued to look closely and came up aces. The cache is dry and in good condition, so I duly signed the log before replacing it all as found and returning to the car for lunch. A good find in a scenic spot - and a GA cache as well Very Happy - hopefully there will be many more. Thanks to WanderingAus for the cache - the first of 2 GA finds today.

This one has been on my todo list for a very long time, and today I was coming back from a bike race in Pinjarra and had time to do some caching, despite the stifling heat! A quick and easy find here of a nice little container. Thanks for the cache WanderingAus!

Jinta29 and I ventured out today to grab some caches.
We had a number of GC and GCA caches on the radar and this was one.
Had been near here before for a GC cache so was familiar With the location.
A nice quick find and all is good here.
Thanks for placing this cache. We found it fine and replaced it as found.

GCA 1654. Found during a work visit to the West.

Went for a big looping drive after work today grabbing some GCA caches. Next find for the day. It was dark by now so it was an adventurous search by torchlight which revealed the cache.

Found paint tin, luckily able to open with my car key. Some rain water inside (rust colour) so was sure to put tin back upside down.

On a bit of a mission to track down unloved GCA caches at the moment, so headed down this way to grab a couple. This one was a quick find and there was a break in the rain and in the clouds, so I got to appreciate the view while I was here. There was some water in the tin, but contents of bags are dry and in good nick.

SL. Thanks for the hide WanderingAus

I was sitting at home after watching the Fremantle vs Melbourne game as was getting a little bored. As I loaded the GPSr for a run with rudi63 on Sunday, I looked and saw that there was a GC cache and this one close by.

Good enough for me I thought. Geowife and geoson were out at a trampoling party and I was free to head off. I decided to take the motorbike as I had purchased a mount for the dakota 20 to suit it and I wanted to see how that went (pretty good actually as I got here no worries)

When I arrived in the car park, there was a group of muggles taking photos from the look out and another car that had a lady and a couple of young boys in it. When they got out, I saw a familiar yellow shape in her hand and met BananaFrog. They were not aware that there was a GCA site so I explained that to her and gave my GPSr to one of the boys and let them find this container for me.

Thanks to Chwiliwr, the contents were all in good condition. If I had a decent camera with me I would have taken a photo of the view from this lookout, I did not the iPhone would do it justice.

Thanks for the cache WanderingAus, it is a beautiful place that I thank you for bringine me to.

Cheers Cool

Was doing the new, very close, GC cache so decided to check up on this one and quite surprised myself by finding it without any coordinates. There has been a fire in the area and it must have heated the container at some stage as the plastic bags were melted along one edge and would not have sealed very well. I replaced them so all is good again.

I think that there was a finder on 7/7/12 who hasn't logged as yet. It is apparently their first find.

Very Happy We have travelled the South West H'way several times this year but
always overlooked this cache. Today we decided to correct our oversight and we enjoyed the great views from the lookout.

Second cache of the day - what a perfect place for a cache. We did have one little glitch in that we didn't realise at the time it was a GCA cache and we dropped Bog Frog TB into it.Embarassed We will let the owners know, so can the next finders please grab it from us. Took a finder's card. TFTH Embarassed

This is a cache-rich area which makes for a lovely afternoon of driving and treasure-hunting. I've driven by this place often enough in years past, but didn't stop as often as I should have - thanks for the hide and getting us out to enjoy the view! Nice lookout - especially at night time. I've heard that you can even see the Australia Day fireworks in Perth from here. Lots of hiding spots in the area, but the Albany Canucks and some members of Team Swartsies were not easily deterred, and eventually came up with the find. If you're in this area, don't miss a fantastic cache that's only a short drive away: "WanAus 166 - Waterfall View".

A great look out, today was a clear sunny day and you could see all the way to the coast. It was difficult to get the cache, as everytime I tried to walk the last 20 metres another car would pull into the car park, muggles everywhere, but I managed to wait them out and retrieve the cache. Thanks for bringing me here SL TNLN TFTH DancingRazzCool

What a surprise to get a 2TF on a cache placed 6-7 weeks ago. Good views TFTH.

18-May-10
*FTF* Went on an early morning raid of some of the new GCA caches. There was someone else parked away from the cache in the dark so I swapped to the nearly flat torch to make my way to the cache. The view is a lot different here and like the other cache the phone wouldn't take a good picture.

Thanks for the cache. No swaps made.
