Description

Yarrie Lake is a jewel in the usually hot, dry inland of NSW, bordering on the Pilliga Scrub.  It is  a 3km saucer-shaped expanse of water thought to have been formed by a falling meteor many thousands of years ago.

It is appreciated by the locals of both Narrabri and Wee Waa - two towns each less than half an hour’s drive away.

Water skiing, swimming and picnicking are favourite past times here. Camping, both powered and unpowered, sites are available.  You can walk right around the lake but not drive as there is only a footbridge across the wetlands.  You could however cycle. Now you can cache as well as there are a few caches scattered throughout the bush. One day the trail might extend the whole way.

Enjoy your caching but don’t forget to carry water even though the path is mostly shaded.

These GZs were chosen as there were no muggles near them when caches were placed but stealth may be required if the area is very busy.  Please remember to rehide the caches carefully.  You will need your own writing implement.

We couldn't find this one today. Caretaker was cleaning litter nearby and lots of work is being done around the lake. I think they might be building cabins.

DNF any cache here at all. Had a thorough search. Place looks thoroughly clean. Found a camera lens cover though.

#GA5139 - 08:40 Day two of a road trip with Sol de lune as we head north for the CacheQLD - Dayboro Mega. After spending the night in Narrabri we stopped for a couple of local caches/trigs before setting off for Yarrie Lake for a short tour, then heading north for Moree, across the border at Goondawindi and on to Toowoomba for a couple of days. Decided to walk to this one from the previous find, only to discover that we could have nearly turned this one into a drive-by! All was good though and we made the find and signed the log for another joint *FTF*. TFTC Smittengranny Very HappyClan Cerberus

Having walked around to this one from where the road is blocked off, we saw the cache as we approached and soon had it hand and the log signed. Good to grab another one, and now it's back to last 3.

Thanks again SG....

Ready to be found. TG47 will not be claiming FTF as he tested these caches for me.
