Description

A cache placed for the 2020 Game of Games

Game Period: 01-Dec-2020 00:00:00 to 31-Dec-2020 23:59:59 AEST

Lane Cove was hidden on the 18th May 2000 which made it the first geocache on Australian soil. Geocaching Australia had a small celebration in 2010 called the 10th Anniversary of Geocaching in Australia. 20 years after the first Australia geocache was placed we are now marking the 20th anniversary of Geocaching in Australia. To help celebrate the 20th anniversary of Geocaching in Australia, the 2020 team at Geocaching Australia have worked together to create the 2020 Game of Games rewards which are 12 monthly games based on finding and hiding geocaches at Geocaching Australia.

Geocaching Australia has minted a special 20th Anniversary 2020 Game of Games pathtag to be made available as a reward to participants who qualify and are randomly selected to receive the reward.

To qualify for this month you will need to:

  • Find and log 15 physical* geocaches.

    • The log date must be in the game month.

    • The log must be made in the game month.

    • *Physical geocaches are:
Moveable, Beacon, Gadget, Burke & Wills, Reverse, Multi, Night, Podcache, Augmented Reality, Traditional, Unknown or TrigPoint.

== OR ==

  • Hide and publish 5 physical* geocaches of specified size.

    • The geocache size (container) must be small, regular or large.

    • The hidden date must be in the game month.

    • The published date must be in the game month.

    • *Physical geocaches are:
Moveable, Beacon, Gadget, Burke & Wills, Reverse, Multi, Night, Podcache, Augmented Reality, Traditional, Unknown or TrigPoint.

This little series will take you to various places around Railton.

All Caches have a stash note, a notebook, and a pen.

Second visit to Railton in a week for caching activities. Did well last week ..... not so good this week until we happened on some convenient GA's of which this one. This is a place we have been meaning to visit for many years. Finally got here twice in seven days, and have a swag of caches to boot. All good and dry here. Apparently no visitors for 18 months Confused Thanks for helping the day go well DEZ055

Went for a drive today to mark a few more off the map. Took a chance that it wasn’t too boggy around the area. A couple of puddles and a bit of mud added to the fun. Found easily in obvious locations. TFTC Clan Cerberus

The last of the series tackled during our visit to Railton today.
Have spent time in the sanctuary before both getting caches and showing muggles this interesting area.
A quick find but not before copping a faceful of cobwebs. Really should look where I'm going A BIT MORE and not at the GPS.
Thanks, now it was off to try the town bakery for lunch and then to tackle some of the newish GC caches in the area.

Out with TazScout and SSR for the day. After an 'energy' stop of coffee and lamingtons, the guys continued the walk to Railton whilst the ladies shuffled the cars again and met us in town. We headed into the park to find this cache, SSR made the find here before we headed in to explore the park. Wow! This is certainly an interesting place.
Thanks DEZ055

Had a day out with Stainless Steel Rat and Goose & Egg. Decided we'd tackle the Railton/Sheffield run. Of course we picked the busiest weekend of the month with three events in the area one of which being cycling so we had plenty of company on the track. This one we did after a bit of a car shuffle and a coffee stop, tftc

out on a caching trip with Gooseandegg and tazscout found tjos one after walking from Sheffield

A Day out with Oldsaint finding some GCA caches for the new Blitz Event. The day was amazing, from snow to blue sky, from heavy showers to dry roads. One leach to report though!
Started the day at 6am, although Oldsaint had driven from Huonville by then. The drive north was interesting, and even though Symons Plains had a race day on, nobody was there at 8am
Proceeded directly to our main target, the Sail Boat Geoart, and completed about 9 before the heavy shower set in, so we decided we could drive to the last during the shower and work our way back. At the last we we greeted by a large amount of snow on the sides of the road, and throughout the tree. We occasionally got "snow balled" from trees above as we were caching. Great day out.

According to the rules of Blitz
Blitz is a dragonZone encounter where you find as many unique valid dragonZone geocaches as you can during a set period of time in an attempt to earn a reward.
Rewards are in the form of dragonZone points but are only awarded if the entire team of geocaches who are playing dragonZone combine to exceed the total number of finds required.
If the entire team of geocachers who are playing dragonZone reach or exceed the total number of finds required then at the end of the game you will receive a number of dZ points based on your percentage contribution of unique finds.

For example:
Make 1% of the total finds, receive 1% of the total rewards points.
Make 5% of the total finds, receive 5% of the total rewards points.
Make 10% of the total finds, receive 10% of the total rewards points.

dZPoints will be rounded up to the nearest whole number.
The more unique geocaches you find the more you are rewarded.
Geocaches you find during the game must have been hidden and published prior to the game announcement.

After staying in Sheffield for a very quiet New Year's Eve we headed off with Tassie Trekkers to find a few more caches on the way to and in the forestry area around Railton and Latrobe and this was one of them. Always happy to return to this reserve. TFTC

We have been to this area several times in the previous months and were pleased to see that the track is much drier although the sides are soft and wet.
Our GPS took us to an area where we came across several fallen trees but no objects consistent with the hint. After a thorough search we slowly expanded our search radius. When we got out to 20m with no luck Mr Y'stassie retreated from the wind and occassional rain drop while Mrs Y'stassie searched the each side of the track. When she was almost back to the entrance she spotted an object consistent with the hint. It was very rotten but she decided it was worth a look. after moving several pieces of covering material she spotted the cache container well tucked away. Another blank log book and another {FTF} at 13:00 after almost an hour searching. Our GPS indicated we were 35m S of the published coordinates.

Thanks for this cache DEZ055. You might like to check the coordinates as our average gave us S41 21.551 E146 25.195.
