The Cape Naturalist Lighthouse

Opened with great ceremony by John Forrest in 1895, the lighthouse has since been automated.

The lighthouse, besides being a navigational aid, serves as an important automatic weather station.

Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse sits on the northern cape at the south western end of Geographe Bay.

A working lighthouse that is indispensable sits watch on the south Indian Ocean.

The lighthouse's location is spectacular.

Amazing views in every direction over Geographe Bay and the Indian Ocean.

The ideal place to watch the migrating whales as they travel north and south along the West Coast.

Not the ideal place to be when the wind and rain are howling, but that's when the light is so important!

When it is dark, cold and the weather is being relentless the light guides you home. Seafaring is definitely a brave human's life.

Cape Naturalist is a great location to visit. We didn't go into the Lighthouse Precinct, only as far as getting a pic of the national engineering marker. I could just put this photo on for proof we were there, but I have a far better one taken not at the lighthouse precinct so it's getting posted as well. TFTV pood.

Was staying down at Bussleton for a week and popped over Dunsborough way to grab some caches. I have been here a couple of times and walked up to the lighthouse to grab a close up picture. Thanks for bringing me back here and for this virtual.

Not sure why this virtual has been set up when there is already another virtual for the same lighthouse published back in 2016. And not sure why you logged your own cache??
