Description

Take a Drive...Sheepstation Creek

This cache is hidden at the Entry (or Exit) of the Border Ranges National Park - close to Sheepstation Creek Camping Area.

The national park can be traversed by 2WD vehicle - the gravel roads are well maintained. There are many places to stop for a picnic and admire the views - including that of the Tweed Caldera.

You're looking for a small brown box - with a few trinkets inside. The cache is hidden in an area with spectacular views of the mountains and plains - back towards Kyogle.

I arrived at the nearby campsite at 1am Saturday morning. I parked the geo-van, cracked open a beer then admired the stars. It appeared I was the only one awake around here. I had a set plan for Sunday which I wasn't going to change but Saturday I wasn't decided on what to do. Do I go for a nearby walk on one or more of the many tracks available? Do I wander up to the trig on Razorback Mountain that is only a little over 2km away? Do I check out the 'real' pinnacle up in the National Park? Well, I had all these great options but instead I chose to just hang out at the campsite haha. It was me, a large goanna, and my rope. I'm part way through a rope course. Abseiling, top rope, mountaineering. I'm really enjoying learning knots and the practical applications for each one. I even made a handy multiple gadget holder for inside my van out of a piece of rope and a series of butterfly eye knots.

Sunday morning showed up and it was time for coffee. No compromise here. Awesome coffee only. I was a little too relaxed from the day before so ended up leaving camp nearly an hour later than I had planned. This proved to not be a problem though. My planned hike was to wander along the Tweed Range to where it meets the McPherson Range in Queensland. This ended up easier than I expected. A pleasant walk. LOTS of birds and birdsong along the walk which was nice. The Marsh Snake I nearly stood on could have altered the day's mood though haha. Having finished the hike earlier than expected it was time to explore more of this area. This is when I found this cache. All in good order with this one, replaced as found. This is a great area. After I signed my name in the log book I looked up at Razorback Mountain..... I'll be seeing you soon enough.
Thanks for the cache Smile

A dad is washing the car with his son. After a moment, the son asks his father, "Do you think we could use a sponge instead?"
