Description

This cache has been placed as part of GA1772 celebrations

AH CHing was an early chinese busnessman in the Cairns Region and this park is part of 100acres that he purchased on the Northern side of Chinaman Creek.

Ah Ching arrived from the Quonding prvince of China in 1879 and worked in the region. He purchased land and developed buildings in the chinese commnity that was based around what is know known as Sheridan Street.

Ah CHing died in 1914 and is buried at the pioneers cemetery.

This park has recently been ugraded and now boasts a great little playground complete with excavator for those who want to make holes.

The cache is concealed away from the playground and is easily accesible without having to cross any watercourses

Beware of mosquitos as they can get quite hungry down in the jungle.

I was determined to find this cache despite the previous DNF. I spent over an hour here searching wandering from one side of the creek to the other and eventually the persistence paid off. How disappointing though that I still couldn't sign the wet remains of the log. TFTC Terrortorian. A pity about the lack of maintenance. Clan CerberusClan CerberusClan Cerberus

Probably still there but we couldn't find it. A lot of hiding spots here.

This one is a tricky one to find under the heavy tree covere. Almost Jurassic like as we wandered around under the palms and other trees here at GZ. We eventually stumbled upon the geocache with probably more luck than skill.
Took nothing, left nothing.
Thanks for this geocache experience here for us today.

Cairns 2016 trip. Another GA cache that had not been found in ages but I found it after a good look around several locations. the log has been very wet and is a piece of wet cardboard at the moment.

Thanks

The bag containing logbook was soaked. Good hiding spot, enjoyed finding it.

Found on our "Making Memories" tour of Mainland Australia.
Once we worked out which side of the creek we needed to be on we made a quick find.
Contents damp but ok. TFTC

Contents soaked & smelly. Replaced log book & zip lock bag. Some maintenance would be good!

A quick find but unable to sign the log which was a sodden mess. Can describe this rather uniquely shaped container if owner requires proof of the find. Thanks, it would be a pity if such a nice container was not checked and maintained.

WanderingAus wandered by on day 45 of our annual 'Climatic Refugee' trip, after dropping the WanderingMrs (aka SWMBO) at line dancing at the nearby Pride Leagues Club.

I needed something fairly special for my 2,500th find, and a Second To Find of a 10th Anniversary cache seemed pretty special to me, so this one got the gurnsey (that's an Aussie Rules Football Jumper for the uninitiated).

Despite the gpsr bouncing all over the place with the jungle cover I soon closed in, and made a fairly quick and easy GAFF 1 find.

My find No 2500, left a special 2,500th find calling card (see photo), TNLNSL.

FTF.Found at 7am on my way to work this morning. Somewhere in the past AhChing would have known my Grandfather who also came from China and was a business man in this area.
Thanks for a great way to celebrate 10 years of Geocaching,
Happy Birthday!
