Description

Circle, Triangle Square

This geocache is a micro geocache and is different to rest of the series due to lack of hides available at this location. You are looking for a simple bison tube here. The series is set around Altona Coastal Park and it should only take an hour or so to collect the series. In the warm weather, watch out for snakes and wear a hat and sunscreen as there is no shade in the area. There is a cooling breeze that comes off the bay so be prepared, especially in colder months and take a light jacket with you if the wind is onshore.

The geocaches are all easy geocaches with the fun of this series intended to mark off the Commonwealth Star.

Altona Coastal Park is a 70 hectares intertidal and salt marsh area located 11 km from Melbourne CBD in the western suburb of Altona, is an important recreational and nature conservation area, providing habitats for a large biodiversity of flora and fauna. It is part of the Cheetham and Altona Important Bird Area and has a large open space consisting of coastal saltmarsh communities as well as important mangrove habitat and mudflats that sustain resident and migratory shorebirds. There is also a large fenced area featuring some walking tracks through open woodlands and grasslands. The park is being rehabilitated primarily through weed control and revegetation. This reserve is strictly dog on lead and includes an area where dogs are not authorised, which is clearly signed. There are no facilities at this reserve. Access into the reserve is via Altona/Racecourse Road with parking either at the ford carpark or adjacent to the Pines Scout camp.

Last one while in the area today. I spotted this from a distance but had to wait for some muggles to pass by before grabbing it. I couldn't get it out at first but managed to poke or from the back.
Thanks caughtatwork for the cache Clan CerberusClan Cerberus

#GA5550 - 15:50; Finally after 11 months, I returned to give the rest of this series a go. I've added to my "Geoart" finds since my first visit here, so it was nice to return with the time to try and complete the 'star'. Spent just over 100 minutes doing the circuit for 15 finds and two DNFs. Closing in on the last in the star series, grabbed this one on the way past. Found the bison on the ground, but replaced in line with the hint after signing the log. TFTC caughtatwork Very HappyClan Cerberus

We found this cache while completing the caches forming the geoart in this reserve. Mr Y'stassie got himself covered in ants when he retrieved the container from its hidey hole. It was indeed Holey Moley or Holy Anty.

Thanks for another cache in this area caughtatwork.

###FTF###

I'd noticed these come online.

Been waiting for some spare time for a walk in the park.

Spent a couple of hours here today clearing the area.

Cool little hide here.

It was signed again.
