Description
Le Geographe 1832
Hidden as Part of the GeoArt games.
This Series of GeoArt Caches are in the shape of the Ship, they will tell you the story of Baudin as he leaves his Homeland.
There is a lot of local history as you meander around the Lower South West of WA, shipwrecks, stories, artifacts, and several original homesteads to pursue.
As History goes, this story started in the early 1800's.
It is a series of caches which traverse along the Busselton Bike Path, showcasing the wonderful Geographe Bay.
As the Historical Journey be repeated...
As a pair the French ships were badly mismatched, with Le Naturaliste a slower sailor than Le Geographe, a fact supported by the number of times she fell behind the pace set by Le Geographe.
However, her spacious hold made her well suited for carrying home the huge collections of specimens gathered by the naturalist Peron.
To be continued...

Logs
The coordinates had us at street level and we searched for some time without finding the cache. Mrs Y'stassie wandered up the bank to have a look from the top and found a tiny container on the ground half way up. The lid had been cross threaded and was wet inside. The log was wet but just signable. Although this cache has not been logged as found it had been signed. We were not sure who had signed it.
Thanks for this cache POOD. We dried the container but the log is still wet. We did not know where to put the container other than it shound be low down so put it under the low bush next to where we found it. A CO check would probably be worthwhile.
The view from the top of the bank was very interesting. We were surprised at how step the drop to the sand was.
