Description

Kittykatch and Smittengranny have worked together to put this small  geoart on Lake Ginninderra

The Lake Ginninderra Northern Peninsula is accessible off Ginninderra Drive via Diddams Close.  The park has swimming areas, boat launching, picnic areas, play spaces including children's playgrounds, barbeques and public toilets.  Power boating is prohibited but there is plenty of room for kayaking and canoeing, and of course geocaching.

This geocache is a traditional geocache style hide where the published co-ordinates are the location of the geocache itself. There are a second set of coordinates in the caches which indicate the location of the geoart icons. There is no puzzle to complete - head to the cache coordinates to find the container.

The physical hides will be found around Lake Ginninderra and should take you about an hour to complete each set.

What an amazing way to start my holidays from work. Geo-events, traveling, meeting up with friends and finding many different caches made it fun! Big Grin It’s so nice to finally be able to do all these things… again. The following descriptions are my adventures between the days of 12/11/21 and 16/11/21. Each cache has been logged to the end of my adventures for the day of finding them. If you would like to read my full log, please find it on any cache I found on the 16/11/21.
Day #1: I finished work at 4pm and headed over to Wagga for the only GIFF event in NSW. Apart from the CO, I was the first to arrive at the event. It was great to finally attend a Geocaching after many months without them. All talk Geo was had by all until we were told that dinner was ready. Soon after, the popcorn was ready and the movies were on. Congratulations to all the GIFF finalists and they were all a great watch. Also, Congratulations to BMG for receiving the FTF on the event. Then it was time to head home and get ready to head to Canberra for the next few days. Big Grin
Day #2: I was nearly late to my own event. O’well… It was still fun with the small group of us that turned up. We also discovered many Moveable caches before heading off to today’s main goal. This happened to be finding the ‘A’ part of the GA geo-art series as well as the lone GC caches around the area which I hadn’t found as I pasted by them. I wasn’t alone as AKM came for the walk as well. After finding all but the last two we headed our separate ways as it started raining heavier. Hopefully, it won’t be raining tomorrow so the event goes ahead but well will need to see. Also pizza for dinner tonight. Big Grin
Day #3: Today’s adventures included the CCE down in Booroomba and as many of the nearby caches as possible. I didn’t do the walk to the ‘Booroomba Rocks’ but I am still able to log the event. I then headed off with a large group of others to find the nearby caches. After that, I caught a lift with Kittykatch, Joolay, isopeda and Barb2e and we headed down to the ACT boarder finding the caches along the way many caches were found and a new GCA cache placed (Gudgenby – GA25097). It was great to see some ammo cans out in the wild, even if they were slightly damaged by the fires. As we arrived back in Tharwa we had afternoon tea and headed our separate ways. Another great day and so much more to go.
Day #4: Not many finds today, but definitely quality finds including a 2003 cache. Big Grin They are becoming few and far between and it was great to see this one still alive. Many unique locations that I would never have visited if it wasn’t for geocaching. Most caches I found were somewhere along the drive/walk around Mount Stromlo. I also wandered around the Belconnen Mall to do some Christmas shopping. Another great day but my trip away is coming to an end… as tomorrow is my last day. Sad
TB visit on all found caches. I would like to thank all CO's of the caches I found and for allowing them to bring me and the rest of the caching community enjoyment. Big Grin

After a long week I can not resist the beautiful blue sky to go out for anice local walk with hoppy. These caches have been calling for a while now. The perfect opportunity for the current game and a nice walk!

Thank you Smittengranny for putting this series out!

After chatting to the CO and concluding this one was gone, GLISS! the kids (ME and YOU) and I, set out to on a mission to replace. Sadly this replacement is nowhere near as funky as the original but hopefully that means it will stay put for awhile!!

New hint - waist high. Happy caching everyone!

Caught up with GLISS! for a walk around the lake this afternoon. The air was crisp today and we only had success on 3/5 caches but the views were amazing! We will be back to avenge the others! Rats no luck on this one today. We’ll be baaaack. Thanks for the awesome geoart Smile

We spent 20 minutes at this spot but failed to turn up anything. There was plenty of evidence of possum and rabbit activity but no cache. Another that will need to be visited again.

#GA5286 - 11:13; A plan was hatched a few days ago with Sol de lune to tackle the two GeoArt series on the shores of Lake Ginninderra and today was the day. Set off from John Knight Park on the bikes and made our way around the series in reverse order and wrapping things up in just on half an hour. We then tackled this series, which took about an hour and a half. Despite it being a fairly easy ride, with most of the caches quickly and easily located and signed, we spent more time than we should have and collected a few GC caches as well. Top job getting this series out there! Apologies for the generic logs Rolling Eyes TFTC Smittengranny Very HappyClan Cerberus

Out with LuckyL10n today to tackle these GeoArt series of caches. Started at the car park of John Knight park and slowly cycled our way around the lake. No real issues other than a couple taking a few minutes to locate, however the good news all were found. A great morning to be out, but as was we mentioned, there always seems to be a head wind when the bikes come out. ShockedShocked

Thanks Smittengranny...great to see the new cache type here in Canberra...well done on getting it done. Very HappyVery Happy

Out for a caching trip with Just a cacher to grab some of this new GeoArt series before it warms up today.

A quick find on most of this series with only the odd delay due to high muggle traffic.

A joint *FTF* on this one with Just a cacher.

Thanks for the cache Smittengranny.
