Description

Kittykatch and Smittengranny have worked together to put this small  geoart on Lake Ginninderra

The Lake Ginninderra Northern Peninsula is accessible off Ginninderra Drive via Diddams Close.  The park has swimming areas, boat launching, picnic areas, play spaces including children's playgrounds, barbeques and public toilets.  Power boating is prohibited but there is plenty of room for kayaking and canoeing, and of course geocaching.

This geocache is a traditional geocache style hide where the published co-ordinates are the location of the geocache itself. There are a second set of coordinates in the caches which indicate the location of the geoart icons. There is no puzzle to complete - head to the cache coordinates to find the container.

The physical hides will be found around Lake Ginninderra and should take you about an hour to complete each set.

Almost hot fooled by the nearby prominent object but its there, think yellow.

After a long week I can not resist the beautiful blue sky to go out for anice local walk with hoppy. These caches have been calling for a while now. The perfect opportunity for the current game and a nice walk!

Thank you Smittengranny for putting this series out!

I came back today and made the find when I didn't have my hints mixed up. Spotted quickly and should have seen it despite scrabbling around in the leaves last time. TFTC

Seems that I'll be finding a lot more gcas for the next couple of months playing the Battleship game. Thanks for the shot and the cache.

Caught up with GLISS! for a walk around the lake this afternoon. The air was crisp today and we only had success on 3/5 caches but the views were amazing! We will be back to avenge the others! This one took a bit of hunting as all our assumptions on the hide were wrong! Got there in the end. Phew! Thanks for the awesome geoart Smile

After not finding G6 Mrs Y'stassie was pleased to spot the hide as she approached this hide. She bent down to put her GPS and phone on the ground she lost sight of the container. It took a few minutes to locate the hide again. Container and contents are in good condition.

Thanks for this cache Smittengranny. This container blends very well into the environment.

#GA5285 - 11:00; A plan was hatched a few days ago with Sol de lune to tackle the two GeoArt series on the shores of Lake Ginninderra and today was the day. Set off from John Knight Park on the bikes and made our way around the series in reverse order and wrapping things up in just on half an hour. We then tackled this series, which took about an hour and a half. Despite it being a fairly easy ride, with most of the caches quickly and easily located and signed, we spent more time than we should have and collected a few GC caches as well. Top job getting this series out there! Apologies for the generic logs Rolling Eyes TFTC Smittengranny Very HappyClan Cerberus

Out with LuckyL10n today to tackle these GeoArt series of caches. Started at the car park of John Knight park and slowly cycled our way around the lake. No real issues other than a couple taking a few minutes to locate, however the good news all were found. A great morning to be out, but as was we mentioned, there always seems to be a head wind when the bikes come out. ShockedShocked

Thanks Smittengranny...great to see the new cache type here in Canberra...well done on getting it done. Very HappyVery Happy

With the weekend off from work and my other plans didn't happen, I decided on heading to Canberra for the first half of the long weekend. I arrived on the Thursday afternoon and settled into my motel room and apart from getting dinner, (Domino's) I really just rested. This is because I had been up since 1:30am that morning for work and I decided that was the best thing to do. Friday morning, I headed off to visit some friends at the Tuggeranong Lutheran Church for the 'Good Friday' service. I decided on leaving early so I could do the walk around Jerrabomberra Wetlands to do the Lab and find the caches around it. Unfortunately, I had a DNF plus I didn't have time to get the AL bonus. I headed off to Church and it was a great service. I caught up with many friends and I was even invited out for lunch which meant I had even more time to catch up. It was a great lunch and we even played a card game which is like 'Phase 10'. It was time to leave and that is when I decided on find the bonus of the lab. This was a nice quick find before I headed back to my motel. I also logged a 'GCA Locationless Event' and now time for dinner. After dinner I logged some GCA Locationless Caches to fill in time. After a great night sleep, it was time to pack up and head off. My first stop was to collect the next answer in the ‘Looking at Canberra’ AL plus a few other nearby caches. One of which was the cache Henry Rolland. This was an evil hide due to the location but thankfully no one was paying attention and I made the find. Afterwards, I headed to Belconnen Mall for lunch and maybe some shopping. I walked around but didn’t buy anything except lunch. Next, I headed off to the Lake Ginninderra Dog Park to find some of the new GCA GeoArt caches. Time to head home and I decided on heading through Young to pick up the new cache there. A FTF on that one Big Grin! A great couple of days away and I look forward to my next geocaching day/weekend. Big Grin TB visit on all caches. I would like to thank all CO's of the caches I found for allowing them to bring me and the rest of the Geocaching community enjoyment. TFTC's Big Grin

Out for a caching trip with Just a cacher to grab some of this new GeoArt series before it warms up today.

A quick find on most of this series with only the odd delay due to high muggle traffic.

A joint *FTF* on this one with Just a cacher.

Thanks for the cache Smittengranny.
