#GA2951 - 16:10; The original plan was to head west to collect a few zones for Sol de lune and I to complete the caching centroid mission, but with the announcement of big bonus points, the plan was changed and we are headed to the Blue Mountains instead. We decided to start on the caches originally planned for the return journey tomorrow as we were well ahead of the time we allowed for caching today. It was now time to head west again to Katoomba where we will spend the night, stopping off for me to collect a few more caches along the way which Sdl has picked up on earlier visits, including this one. Parked on the wrong side of the line, but made our way over the bridge and on to GZ for a quick find. Nice little park. TFTC Team Canary

found while doing some caches around Woodford on the way up to Hazelbrook. the hint made it a lot easier but I didn't read that till just now as I was logging the cache. Some interesting thing in the area

Found the way in and after a quick look, the cache was in hand. Such a shame the place hasn't been looked after a bit better. Don't the council care?
No problems, glad I made the effort to get here.
Thanks for the cache Team Canary....

No ants for me today! But sometimes keyholders do not wish to get opened. Found shortly after my 400 milestone on GC.

Bisygisy was involuntarily left to battle the incumbent ant infestation; whitemushroom blithely signed the log. Surprising how many of those lil' critters can squeeze the cache ... TFTC

Was passing by after finding caches in the Hazelbrook area. An ants nest had been built in the cache so we cleaned it out and replaced with seal completely closed. We think it may of been left slightly open on last find.
TFTC. Found with whitemushroom.

we pass by here twice a day. Thanks for a reason to stop and have a look around! Lest we forget!

Found the nearby GC cache & then this one. Fast find, all ok with the cache. Took a look around the memorial before heading off across the highway to my car. Thanks Team Canary.
Today was our second day caching in the Blue Mountains area. Our prime focus was still the Blue Mountains Power Trail although we did search for some other caches as well - this was one of the other caches. Once we found our way into this small pocket of land between the rail line and the motorway, we were able to make a quick find. TFTC.
As we crossed the bridge we noticed workmen trimming some trees near the track but they where out of side and didn't affect our searching, and interesting spot even if its a bit isolated from the road now.
Thanks for the cache, found with Tankengine and Alibida on our GCA Power trail weekend trip from Canberra
Thanks for the cache, found with Tankengine and Alibida on our GCA Power trail weekend trip from Canberra
This trip was planned from when the trail was published, but it took till now to get a common free weekend. Most of the caches were simple and well placed. A few were more difficult. The places visited were interesting and all in all Mtrax, Tankengine and I had a great time, even if a bit wet and foggy at times.
Lots of fences here, but the approach from the bridge was all clear
Thanks

Mtrax, albida33 and myself from Canberra decided on a mini-raid of the Blue Mountains over the weekend, in particular attempting to complete the Blue Mountains Power Trail! (Which we managed ). Of course, we also stopped by a few GC caches as well . In total we managed 82GCA and 57GC caches…
Nice cache - thanks!
Nice cache - thanks!
Found this cache today after nabbing the other one nearby. Pity that this area has been neglected, maybe with the highway upgrade there may be a chance for some TLC. Co-ords spot on!! TFTC

I have logged this find with my other ID 'banksia77777' I now can use my usual ID which I use with GC.

Our first GCA cache. We picked up the other cache and thought it was time to start on the GCA caches.

A close cache to another cache which I almost missed. Having found the cousin cache, I was walking back over the railway bridge when I happened to check for nearby caches. What, under 50m away, What the...? I walked back, but needed the hint for this one. Was hidden nice and safely until I saw the light TFTC.

I was placing a GCA gnome at the memorial the day Canary came to replace this cache and bumped into him on the other side of the railway with the cache in hand, ready for deployment. Since I don't do many GCA caches, it's taken me all this time to get back to it, and then because Mr Darcy's GC cache went up only 15 metres from this one. Seemed stupid not to do both of them. So here I am, Canary, finally logging it. Cheers
I don't normally do GA caches. When the supply of GC caches dries up, maybe I will start on them in earnest, but after two cachers commented that there was a GA cache a whole 15m away from my new GC one, I had to check it out.
Forgot to bring a pen with me, but luckily there was another cache 15M away I could borrow one from so...

PS Did I mention there is a GC cache only 15M away?

I'd been planning to get to this one for ages, thought about it every time I drove past on the highway. But I couldn't figure out how to get over to it. This morning I looked at the hint on the new GC cache just 15m away from this one & realised where the entry point must be.
Gotta love a quick stop at one location that gives you 2 smilies .
Thanks Canary.

I noticed last night that bikerbuddy left a travelling gnome gnearby, so I had no choice but to the make the trek down the GWH to Woodford this morning and finally put this errant geocache to rest.
It's much smaller now, as the CO reports, and ought to resist muggling.
Geocachers should ferret it out easily enough, but the general run of hangers-out, spray-painters and mischief-makers are unlikely to find it.
Cache was in very good condition and the log book was empty! I only wish I could claim FTF for this one.
Many thanks to TC for taking the time to replace the cache. It's an interesting place to visit, if a bit dilapidated at present, and has a fascinating 'approach' from beyond the railway tracks.
As others have written earlier in their logs, we can only hope that the authorities will fix up 'Woodford Memorial Park' nicely when the adjacent major roadworks are completed. It deserves a good refurbishment.
Once more -- thanks to our men and women in the armed services for what they do for us every day -- and special thanks to those who have given their lives in service. Lest we forget.
'Three Thumbs Up' for a special place.

Had a good look around on a rainy afternoon but found nothing. The 'cover' from the likely hiding place was completely removed and placed inside the memorial shelter. The clue and coordinates point to a structure which could have hidden a 'small' container at one time, but clearly nothing of that size was at GZ today.
I was going to confidently suggest that this cache had been muggled but, upon returning home, see that the CO may have replaced the container with a smaller one -- perhaps micro sized. It's possible that I could have missed a micro today, and certainly a nano, despite my 20 minute investigation, because I was looking for a 'small' and had that mind-set.
Very sad to see the neglected area around the memorial, but perhaps it will all be upgraded when the road works are finally completely.
A sincere thanks to our service people who protect us -- and especially to those who gave their lives for us. Lest we forget.

I never knew this memorial was there, which is a shame as it is well worth the visit. I can only advise people to go and see this before the RTA starts work on the highway, I hope even they will not demolish such a monument or if they have to at least move it nearby.
Took nothing, left Yowie and Olympic pin, also left a GCA 10th Anniversary Pathtag.

Found this easily back in June. (Sorry about the late logging)
It was a great first cache!
Went to check on it today (31/7) and it was gone. The covering had fallen off the hiding place.
Has it been officially moved?
There is evidence that vandals have been in the area- it could have been stolen.

Yes this is a lovely old shelter/monument - one we've been to and passed by quite a number of times over the years. On a Sunday morning bike ride we took the foot bridge over from Railway Parade for a revisit and a cache. Which was no problems to find, principally because part of the hide was lying on the ground. Probably blown down by the strong winds we had here the previous day. Anyway fixed it up and all good now. We can only hope the RTA preserve and perhaps even enhance this spot as part of the upcoming roadworks.
Found my first cache!!!!
Thanks for the cache, good fun and a good position.
Had a lot of fun

A pull in bay - didn't know what it was & drove straight past. Then went around in a circle & pulled in. Bit exciting walking down the highway. An attractive memorial & a sneaky hide. Thanks

Woohoo FTF. Definitely a time forgotten park and well worth the stop. We were a bit concerned about where to park but found a small pull off bay just west of the cache with a track back alog the railway fence line.
If you are coming this way make sure you stop and check this park out in case it disappears with road widening.

This was a lovely ***FTF** thanks Team Canary. It's really great that you placed this cache, I hope heaps and heaps of people stop by to see the really beautiful building here. What fabulous stonework. Fabulous hiding spot for the cache too! I was really sad to see survey pegs all along the road looking as if they'll be widening the road here. I truly hope this brilliant spot is preserved when that all happens as it would be a terrible shame to see it disappear. I recommend this cache to everyone (and park on the same side of the road just past the cache where there's a convenient pull-in bay)
