I had not heard this phrase until I met my mother-in-law and now I find myself saying it - "Silly As A Wheel". It mens particularly foolish, silly, or frivolous. This is a very Australian saying.
Thanks for the fun locationless.

Thanks to RUBYMOON05 for this chance to share one of these phrases.
"Stone the Flamin Crows!" is our offering, a statement of annoyance or delight.
As a phrase it can cover so many moments.

I’ve chosen “flat out like a lizard drinking” which means to be very busy.

As it is the time of year for more indulgence, I will go with "A Cold One".

Time for a nice cold beer now I think.

We are going with 'a fair crack of the whip'
Made famous by the ill-fated former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, who enjoyed using Australian slang to speak to the electorate and often pleaded for a "fair suck." The phrase generally means that you want to be treated fairly.
"Fair suck" was coined by struggling Australian families who shared droppings of tomato sauce to flavor their meat. Such was the hard life that all they wanted was an equitable suck. In the fields, they needed a "fair crack of the whip." Fair go, mate.

“Throw a shrimp on the barbie” is a phrase made very familiar when Paul Hogan was used to promote Australian tourism to the Americans. The phrase, however, is a variation on the old Australian saying “Throw a snag on the barbie” or “Throw another snag on the barbie”. Tourism Australia substituted "shrimp" for "snag" believing that Americans would not know the term "snag". This phrase has been used by many organisations to promote their fund raising or activities. For example, “Throw a snag on the barbie and join the fight against MND” was used to promote awareness and fund raising for research into Motor Neurone Disease. “Throw a snag on the barbie: What's on this Australia Day? “ has been used to promote Australia Day activities over the years. An informal invitation often used is “Come over and we will throw a snag on the barbie”.

Our photo is of a few snags on the barbie with another about to be thrown on. Thanks rubymoon05 for the cache.

Challenge is accepted. Many thanks for this one. Just at home in front of the fan and in front on the computer as it is very humid and sticky outside. Rain expected. High humidity is one of the things I had to get used to when we moved to the coast at Bargara Qld.

The boot is on the other foot.

When the boot is on the other foot?

If the boot is on the other foot, a situation is the opposite of what it was before, so that the people who were previously in a better position are now in a worse one, and those who were in a worse position are now in a better one. Comments like that from a manager are better made in private. Please excuse my naked foot.
