True Blue Poppet Head - Cooinda Reserve
The original True Blue Poppet Head was located underneath the motel of that name, True Blue Motel in Main Street, Central Wyalong. The mine was operational from January 1894, ceasing production in 1920. The mine shaft head was recreated in Cooinda Bushland Reserve on the town’s centenary together with a replica of a miner’s hut.
The first bark hut was erected in Wyalong in 1893 in the middle of what is now Neeld Street. After selecting 2,500 acres of land in the district, the hut was built by George Neeld who was soon joined by his brothers Joseph, Ernest and Harry and his father Fred Neeld – one of the early colonists who later became a pioneer of the Wyalong goldfields.

Stayed the night at the rest area and the cache was about 30m away. I was keen to get rid of the previous DNF and went to try my luck again now that it's been replaced. Got it! TFTC Black Bunny.

A very popular free camp and a great place for a cache but unfortunately we couldn't find it. Thanks anyway Black Bunny.

#GA5362 - 12:35; Day one of a mission through the Central West of New South Wales with Sol de lune to grab some of the dragonZones to our west. Today's travels took us through Binalong, Temora, Barmedman, West Wyalong, Rankin Springs, Goolgowi, Hillston and finally Lake Cargelligo where we spent the night. Collecting finds in Temora, Bland, Carrathool and Lachlan dragonZones and counties along the way. No problems here once we reached GZ and enjoyed a quick find and sign, the first of a few of the CO's caches on the list for this mission! TFTC Black Bunny

Out on a road trip with LuckyL10n to grab a few dragonZones in outback NSW that we still had to visit including Bland, Carrathool, Lachlan, Cobar, Brewarrina, Walgett, Coonamble as well as grabbing a few caches in previously visited zones. A fun 3 days with over 2200 klms notched up along the way. A visit to the little town of Carinda which is famous for a visit by David Bowie to record a film clip for one of his single releases, was a bit of a highlight. A neat pub with great food and a good sort of atmosphere. Well worth the drive off the main road to check it out. At $55 a night the accommodation, while basic, was not too bad.
This was one of the many caches we found while out and about. No issues here and our names were soon in the log book.
Thanks for another one Black Bunny....

Adelaide Trip. May 2021. Day 10. This was the last day of the trip away, and it took me from to Hay to home via Rankin Springs and Cootamundra. I climbed a hill I have been avoiding for years and arrived home with plenty of time to unpack before dark.
It was nice to get a few physical caches on the way home.
Thanks

Joint *FTF* with JohnoMawbs @ 3:36pm on 30/01/2021
JohnoMawbs discovered that there were some new caches out at West Wyalong and decided to ask me if I wanted to tag along. I didn't have much on so I said yes. I enjoyed the drive along the Goldfields Way to WW and home via Newell HWY/Burley Griffin. I ended up with 4 Joint FTF's and many other caches which now all a on them. They were all different hides and took me to many places I didn't know about. It was lots of fun. TFTC's

Joint *FTF* with swimmagurl @ 3:36pm on 30 January 2021
After lunch today, I found myself with a free afternoon so I decided to ask swimmagurl if she wanted to go for a caching run over to West Wyalong to find some new caches that have popped up recently. We also stopped off at a few other caches for swimmagurl to add to her found collection. So for me, only 5 finds, which 4 of them were FTF's and for swimmagurl, she ended up with 12 finds. All caches were quick finds and all at unique locations and great hides. I would like to thank all CO's of the caches I found and for allowing them to bring enjoyment to me and the rest of the Geocaching community. TFTC's and TFTTP
