Description

Beware of plenty of muggles

PLEASE take some caution at this cache.

From the reports I am receiving people are not taking the time to look properly and are starting to damage the surrounding area.

This is my first cache to help celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Geocaching in Australia.

This cache is hidden within a nice stroll from a number of availalble parking locations. However be very careful as this location can be teeming with muggles. During this stroll there are plenty of birds to watch and there are benches to rest on at any time.

This path travels from Springvale Road through to Willurah Street.

There is a pathtag for the FTF as well as some small toys to start the swaps.

My first try at geo caching. Didn't find anything. Maybe not sure what to look for. Spent quite some time looking.
Hoping someone else tries and confirms if it's still there.

This was our first actual find, Yay ... lovely park, great hiding spot.. took us about 15 mins of looking around to find this treasure.. cant believe it has been there since 2010! Very Happy

After two DNFs nearby, we relocated her so the children could play on the playground while I hunted caches. After getting a bit prematurely excited, I looked in two incorrect places before bothering to follow my GPS to the correct spot and making the find. A thorny bush has taken up residence in the vicinity though I have survived my encounter. TFTC Datruk

It took us a while to find a parking spot that allowed us to access the walking track that would take us to this cache.

The GPS was not stable so we searched what we thought would be the most likely hide with no luck.

We then moved to a nearby object where we quickly located the well camo'ed cache container. The container and contents were in good condition.

Thanks for this cache Datruk. We enjoyed our visit to this area and saw only one muggle as we walked out.

#GA2544 - 14:20; After driving down to Melbourne to bring the geostudent and her friend back for uni, Sol de lune flew in to join me for a days caching and the return journey to Canberra. Our plan was to make finds in as many of the dragonZones in which we were yet to make a find as we could. Today the plan was to head south to Kingston, then on to Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula before heading back north to Monash and a few other zones before wrapping up the day in Stonnington. After completing our southern run, we were now back in the city at Forest Hill Reserve. DNFd a moveable nearby, but it seems that luck was truly on our side with this cache as it wasn't long before we managed the find and added our names to the log. TFTC Datruk Very HappyClan Cerberus

In the area with LuckyL10n on day 2 of our Melbourne trip. Read a few of the logs and thought it could be an interesting one to find, but very glad to say it was a straight forward find. Once in hand, the log was signed and the cache was soon replaced.

Thanks Datruk...a neat first time visit. Cache all good.

Following the recent success by other cachers I returned.
The time had come to turn that frown upside down.
Checked out the large (more obvious) location, as have those before me.
Stood back and let the coordinates settle and had the cache in hand soon afterwards.
Not a solitary muggle was seen up till now so I headed off to find a palindrome coordinate very close by.
Yep. Another success after plugging the numbers into the eTrex10 manually.
Thanks for placing this cache Datruk.
I may just do the same...
Time now for Mister Doctor's hide over the other sidwe

My very first GCA find!

I've been looking for this cache for 2 years, off and on. I walk past it around once a fortnight as I take the geodog on a big one hour loop. I used to sometimes bump into the extraordinary sight of a sheep being walked on a lead! It was "Little Lamb" - a regular around dusk.

8316366315.jpg

It turns out each time I looked for the cache I was actually in the wrong place, in a spot about 20m too far east! Today as I passed I thought I'd just try those same coordinates again and suddenly a new location presented itself. And there were geotrails all around. Very promising! Initially I was directed to the larger object with a range of tantalising hidey holes, but these proved vacant. Next the directions were clearly to another location which seemed like a nice hide for something wombat sized, but it too seemed empty so I ended up next to the creek, which was clearly too far away. I seemed drawn back to the wombat domain, and indeed it was also home to the cache!

Thanks to Datruk for placing it here and also to the Welder for the recent community-minded maintenance. Much appreciated!

I was hoping for one last find before the Summer Scavenger Series ended.
Headed in here full of high hopes and expectations.
Spent over half an hour carefully searching the area.
The coordinates continually returned me to the same place, but no cache was found.
Fearing that the previous finder had done such a good job on refreshing the camouflage I sent him a message and he graciously offered to join me. With three of us searching for another twenty minutes we still came up empty handed.
Que sera sera.
Thanks anyhow Datruk but a DNF for me today. Sad

Happy (re)birth-day to this cache. 6 years on and still going strong. Wink
Thanks again for the cache, Datruk.

Thanks for taking me to a reserve I've driven past thousands of times yet never ventured into. Until now Smile

Investigating some 'unloved' GCA caches, and noticed this in my zone.
No sightings for nearly 3 years... I had to check this out!!
Well, while waiting on an evening take away order at our nearby shopping centre, I managed to convince Mrs Welder and 1DGirl to come have a quick fossick for it. Off we raced to search the surrounds with torches - something they wouldn't normally do! After 10 min, we'd had no luck. The drizzle started and it was time to get our dinner. We all still had fun on our first foray.
Over dinner I noticed that in my haste to get to GZ I had plugged in the wrong coordinates... we were searching in the wrong spot!! Hahaha.
Next day I returned with Mrs W and we surprisingly found it immediately. It was exposed and the camo was all gone, but it was there, and intact.
On opening, we found significant water in the container and the log was saturated.
I took the unusual step of taking the cache home for some intensive rejuvenation and TLC, banking on the fact that no one has looked for it for years now... surely no one would come while did the necessary maintenance. At home I discovered a large crack in the lid and the bag had holes - that is how it got so wet. I replaced the lid, cleaned out the cache, dried the log, provided new plastic bag, even sharpened the pencil lol (pen still works despite the water!), applied fresh camo (took 3 attempts to get it right - noob mistakes, lol. At least I now know why it peeled off in the first place), and refreshed the treats.
All set for new GCA adventurers Smile

Happy caching guys.

And thanks for the adventure Datruk.
All is well with the cache Smile

this is my second found, on the morning stroll after dropping my son to class. camo paint almost gone. bee hive on the other tree is still there. I'm hunger for more.

Easy find once the gps settled down. Had me looking in the nearby bee hive which is a bit of a worry. Only one muggle on or return and yes they do deem to appear ot of nowhere... TFTC

I decided to drop by for a look for this one while on the way to my weekly bowelling Wink. Time was marching on and things were starting to get a bit gloomy so I decided to give it up for another time after 5 minutes or so of scrounging around. One last look before I headed off though finally had me with the stash in hand at 19:55 Smile.

A very pleasant area Very Happy.

Surprisingly given the container type and the press seal bag, the logbook is a little moist but still able to written on Shocked.

TNLNSL. Thanks Datruk.

My first GA cache (solo anyway). I went up to check on the recent string of DNFs on "not so quiet stroll" and while there I took the opportunity to look for this one. A nice easy find which suited us well as my geokids have not become devote's of caching yet so tolerance for walking and looking is low. TFTC. TNLNSL

21-Dec-11
On my way to do some last minute Christmas shopping I stopped in for a look here. A nice walk through this lovely little oasis had me at gz. The beehive in the tree had me worried but the cache was far enough away to not be a problem. Thanks Datruk. I have been past this park lots of times but never been in til now.

After a massive night of caching I woke this morning not wanting to put much effort in to finding a cache today. I have only started doing the Geocaching Australia caches so there are a couple that popped up close to where I work. The thing is the GA caches don’t seem to get much activity so it’s hard to know if they are still going to be there. Anyway off I went in search of this cache, and after a quick look found it in a pretty common hiding spot, so I was happy to sign the log. I noted the number of the travel bug and placed it back in the cache. Thanks for the cache.

12-Feb-11
Took a minute or so to locate, GPS was pointing to a close by likely looking spot, a quick find when expanded the search towards the next most likely place. Had to upset some local spiders' handy work to get to the cache but otherwise no dramas.

Find number 6 of 13 in the rain today. I have been here before for the GC.com cache but either this cache wasn't here then or I didn't know it was here then. From memory I think it was the day of the Tallest Tree event/debacle! Thanks for bringing me back here anyway.

In the area it is always nice to park the car a get a two-for-one.

I was searching in the wrong area and colee_baby came up with the goods in another location not too far away.

Thanks again Datruk for this nicely camoed cache.

The definite last cache of the day, but hey, how can you drive past a GCA cache, an anniversary too.
I parked the car and headed to GZ and it was a pleasant stroll down there. At GZ I checked one obvious place (but not where the GPS pointed) and then I headed over to where the GPS indicated GZ should be and took a moment to see if there was anything out of place.
Yes! A quick detailed check and the cache was in hand.
Took nothing, left nothing.
Thanks Datruk for this cache here today. It's always nice to get out and find a GCA cache, them being so rare and all.

Lots of Muggle kids around, I retrieved the cache, then moved away so I did not stand out. I then had to wait while a group of muggle kids decided to play near where the cache was hidden, eventually managed to re-hide the cache.

A quick find today as we broke our day up with a nearby playground for the kids. Mrs Happy Chappy teaches aerobics at the gym here, and beta female has swimming classes here, but it was all new to the boys...

Agree about the undergrowth getting a bit trodden. Unfortunately, worn vegetation tends to encourage more as you think "ah, here it is!"... But it's not too bad. Hopefully once the early months 'rush' is over it'll be fine.

TFTC!

Well I am happy to say the GPS took us straight to it today!!!! Yippee

Our GPS was out by about 5 metres back on the 18th May!! (Both times!!) It does look like other's GPSr's might have been having problems too as where JMelb was searching last time is looking pretty worn (but not as worn as another one we did later today!) It's a great camo Datruk, although perhaps wearing off a touch??

Whilst out caching with jaffnut and tackle_head we bumped into Coffee and Cache at a nearby cache and as we didn't have the co-ordinates of this one in our GPS's, he kindly passed them on to us. Following the battered bush trail, jaffnut soon spotted the hide. Thanks to Coffee and Cache for the co-ords and to Datruk for the hide.

Our second GCA Datruk cache for the afternoon. We had to search for quite a while, but in the end found the well camouflaged container. The area is taking a bit of a beating - maybe a slightly more specific hint may be in order?

Afterwards, I took Geoson to see the nearby Datruk GC cache I had found only a week back, and bumped into Jaffnut tackle_head & 3up. We gave them the co-ords for this cache and pointed them in the general direction. Nice to meet all off you.

Thanks Datruk - Great area.

22-May-10
Found with 3up and tackle_head after Mr Coffee & Cache kindly gave us the coordinates after bumping into us as we were heading to the other nearby cache. As we approached GZ we knew we were in the general area due to the obvious 'search wear and tear'. A quick check soon revealed the cache. Thanks for another great hide Datruk

Found by Bob at 1105

No muggles around here today Smile. I approached this one from a different direction to the one I took a couple of weeks back for the nearby GC cache - and stumbled across the Forest Hill Aquatic Centre - I always wondered where that was (OK, maybe not always). Anyway, having seen the previous logs, I figured this one might be a bit of a challenge and, when I got near GZ, I could see where there was a bit of damage to the garden beds from previous searches. I spent about 5 minutes checking this area out, while trying not to contribute to the damage, before I moved out into the open and got a really good fix on GZ and then moved a few metres away from where the previous searches seem to have been centred - and found the nicely camouflaged container pretty much straight away.

Thanks again Datruk

Hehehe... I don't mean to rub it in, but this one was very well hidden and I wanted to give up a couple of times, but my partner wouldn't let me. She ended up finding it @ 12:25hrs and I have to say that it was worth the chase. Thanks Datruk for the Path Tag and a brilliant cache.
