Description

Driving out of Corowa turn right at Tom Roberts Rd (Redlands Rd),while travelling along the road you will pass the sheepstation Killeneen. It was here in 1888 that Tom Roberts made some sketches in and around the woolshed. The following year he came back to Killeneen to paint his famous "Shearing of the Rams". He completed it in 1890 and sold it for 350 guineas ($735).

When making swaps could you please follow the theme of "Red", the colour of the clay soil around this area.

There is a picnic table and wellkept a long drop toilet available, so why not bring morning tea or lunch to enjoy.

Like all bush settings the eailier you get there the more animails you might see including kangaroos, goannas and birds aswell.

The first set of WPs will take you to the park entrance so you can find a micro cache with the co-ords to the final regular sized cache.

I am in Rutherglen for the weekend to attend the Mega. WP1 was an easy find. As we walked across to the final thousands of butterflies flew all around us. Beautiful

A day out and a little bit of Aussie History that we were not aware of. However the cache was not found. It would appear time has overtaken this cache (nine yrs since last found) Not sure of the motivation for this cache, a recreation area with walks OR to bring us to here to experience the history of Tom Roberts. If the latter then a very successful cache even though we were not able to locate it..

#314 Found at 7.10pm. WOO-HOO our 7th FTF & our 2nd GCA cache! This is a 1st for us - 2 FTF's within the hour. We had no idea that there was a reserve of this nature out there & were very pleasantly surprised (yes even in the dark) with the way it has been set up. It was a little hard searching for the micro in the dark but after about 10mins Dad had it in hand. Once co-ords were in off we went without a 2nd thought about GeoPrincess reading in the car....one minute we were there, the next we weren't. We soon located GZ after some bush bashing & whilst logging the find the stillness was broken by the sound of a wailing child. So whilst Dad finished up at GZ the Queen ran back to the car via wobbly torchlight to the GeoPrincess who had decided, in the meantime, that everything was OK after all except that her torch batteries had gone flat. UhOh!

Took: Scared looking Man
Left: Cork Top Man (wearing a red jumper)

TFTH - now we need to come back and see what it's like during the daytime & so the Queen can miss all the spider webs! Again great to see more GCA hides in this area. Cheers!
