Description

Located in an attractive picnic area adjacent to Fitzroy Falls Dam.

The dam is part of the Shoalhaven Scheme & is used as storage for water pumped during drought from Tallowa Dam which is located at the junction of the Shoalhaven & Kangaroo Rivers, some 600 metres below.  Water from Fitzroy Falls dam is then gravity fed via a tunnel & canal to the Wingecarribee Reservoir & from there to Warragamba Dam via the Wingecarribee River.  The dam is used for recreational purposes as well with a Sailing Club & trout fishing.  It is also the reason there is always water pouring over Fitzroy Falls.

There are free electric BBQs, tables, a children's playground, BBQ shed with boiling water, toilets & plenty of parking.

This took a bit of finding; partly because I was expecting a bigger cache. Nice to find another GA cache. TFTC Tuena.

Had a lovely lunch with half of my immediate family today and met my eldest's partners family. Sadly, I had to head off home on my own to get back to work next day. But not so sad was that being on my own meant I could stop and cache my way home. It also meant not getting home till after midnight though. haha.

Geocaching Australia (GCA) Cache Find Number 1506. Found during a Mothers Day run with minniek and B0tman.

Wanting to go for a run on Mothers Day we spotted a nice number of GCA caches around this region. The fact that so many more GCA caches are popping up around the place is just great - both minniek and I are Clan Cerberus and proud of it !! We want to do the right thing by our clan and try to help control caches and zones and ultimately states ! While our focus will always be GC caches - as many as possible - when there are GCA caches and Trigs we will do our best - especially trigs and CORS as I enjoy them so much.

Next find for the day. I made a quick find at GZ - firwst finder for quite a while. Log signed, cache replaced, and we were on to the next one. Happy about that !

TFTC !!

Headed out with Fitzy_1965 for an afternoon of caching on Mother's Day.

After a quick stop at the Fitzroy Falls visitor centre, we stopped here for a quick find. Surprised it hasn't been found for a while.

At the start of a Jervis Bay trig seek with rogerw3

A stop upon the way for a Tuena GA regular ... well, you would stop, wouldn't you?

A miswander (probably at the wonder of the nearby council work crews nattering) as the Garmin settled... and then a beeline to an likely GZ. The initial seek gave up no 'regular' but did a gnome ... and rogerw3 declared he was no Sailor ... a further forage, and within the mulch there sat the cache.

The container was a tad dirt sodden, though the content and logbook were fine. TFTC Tuena SmileClapping

Feeling a bit exposed with the council workers hovering nearby, but Whitemushroom soon had the cache in hand as well as an unexpected "Magic Mushroom Gnome" that should not have been there!

Thanks for the cache.

No sailors here today but no worries finding this one and a few movables who have taken up residence.

#GA596 - 12:35; I was headed to Nowra and after a short detour for a couple of trigs, stopped by here for what looked like it might be a very productive search. I wasn't disappointed. Bagged this traditional accahe and eight moveables, which will now head south with me for a while. Dropped a couple of others off in their place. TFTC Tuena Very HappyClan Minotaur

Called in knowing there was a quite a few here but would my car nav be any good at helping me find them. This one was very well camoed with the box painted & weathered. Poked around with a stick & heard a plonk. My first container, signed the book & as I replaced it a cow fell out so scratched around a bit more. Thanks Tuena.

I was in the park last week & walked over to check - it was there, well camoed but can be seen from the grassed area.

Found on the way home from a weekend caching trip to Wollongong with McPhan and Zsa Zsa. Sunday afternoon, wet and a little cold and no-one around. Took a few mintues to locate it, but all was good.

Now that I'm logging, I see the CO was there today, as was McPhan, who missed it...but yep it's there mate.

Thanks for the cache.

Dried out, removed moisture attracting & rusted objects, cleaned seals.

Difficulty rating was upped today, with a busload of happy Asian tourists enjoying festiviteis nearby. While they were distracted, I peered intently, looked straight past the cache twice, looked more intently in the wrong places, and finally looked intently in the right place! Gee, it blends in well!

Unfortunately it was a bit waterlogged - the log book is still dry though. I drained about 1/2 inch of water out, and dried it as best I could.

TFTC, Tuena!

I've called into this location on several occasions & checked the cache each time - it's there. Standing on the grass& looking intently will reveal it - painted in camo colour.

This cache is turning into a nemesis!! After not finding it for several times looking all around the bushies, I thought lets have a try now it is placed somewhere else! Indeed the coords sent me to a nice corner without having to go into the green bt alas NO CACHE again for me, what did I miss? Is it gone? I just don't know!
Thanks sofar, I will have to try again someday

Changed the position of the cache (& the co-ords). There is no longer a need to enter the garden, such as it is.

Our first caching adventure in quite a while. Having passed here countless times over the years, we had never stopped until now, a shame really as it is a nice park/picnic area. The GPSr wanted me to go over the fence, but a quick call to the cache owner had me in the right spot, and a First-To-Find too! Thanks Tuena for the cache and the help.
