Description

This is one of 10 geocaches placed in this area in honour of the 10th anniversary of the first geocache to be placed in Australia.

The GCAX series was published 18 May 2010 in honour of the first geocache to be placed in Australia, Lane Cove.  The series is made up of 9 traditional caches and one puzzle.  The puzzle is neither clever nor difficult; it's main purpose in life is to get you out and walking around the area - which is one of the things we all love about geocaching anyway.  Each traditional cache has a letter and corresponding number inside the lid.  As the cache descriptions do no t say which letter can be found in which cache, you won't know if you need to visit all or just some of the caches in the series to find the puzzle cache.  But hey - you wanted to do all of them anyway, didn't you?  ;-)  The caches are all easily accessible and within Knocklofty Reserve.

GCAX02: Have a Seat is placed about 40m off the track past the seat.  As long as you are approaching from the correct place, the terrain is open and easy to walk through - and also has some lovely views.

Came across the seat easily enough but it took ages to find the cache. For some reason we couldn't get our GPS to settle and the clue isn't much help these days with mother nature changing things, but we got there in the end. Unfortunately the cache was missing it's lid and the contents were a bit soggy. TFTC
Cheers,
The Hancock Clan

this was the last of the series to be found by us, out and about with the Rafas, some people "muggles" were sitting on the bench when we arrived so we went to find a GC cache not far away and returned to delightfully find the cache to complete the known set of caches in the series, 3 are missing.

The GeoGSP and I have enjoyed the walk to this seat many times - amazing views from here. We are so lucky to have this area so close to Hobart! This morning the GeoGSP and I took another stroll around this area which is one of our favourites. It was a beautiful morning and we started nice and early so it was not too hot. A nice easy find, thans for putting this series of caches here Snuva.

Nice seat Smile

We had a great day exploring this reserve, not being locals we were impressed with the well maintained tracks and the views were spectacular. Met lots of very friendly dogs and their owners enjoying the beautiful spring day. We underestimated how long the series would take us and ended up walking out in the dark. Thanks Snuva for another great cache. Clapping

Lovely day for taking the dog for a walk in this reserve.

Well it was certainly a day for people and whist we had this cache open a Dad muggle and two kid muggles went by with an inquisitive dog which spotted us but was called back by the owner. Took fluffy yellow chicken and left blue wren photo.

16-Feb-11
With the tiger snake warning given to us by another walker as we started on this trek scrambled up the hill a little way watching every stick. Found easily but the spotting of the tiger snake going into the cache hide required a big stick and some moving of items at distance to retrieve the cache. In the tiger snake flurry forgot to get the letter out of the cache. DAMN. Back for this one soon. (Hopefully minus snake).

A nicely designed seat and a good place for a much needed rest. It was hot and still up there in the trees. I sat on the seat while my partner waded off into the bush to collect the cache. Here we could relax and sign the log without feeling too suspicious, admire the views and the bushland, and munch on some muffins.

About the only time we saw muggles was just as I was about to start doing the log here. Handy thing about carrying a camera is you can pretend to be taking pics instead of what you are actually doing.

30-Oct-10
Well. We made it to the cache and some old muggle lady turned up and took the seat whilst I was still logging the cache.
Nice view between the trees.
TNLN, thanks for the cache

Once again, red tag managed to come to GZ a more difficult way than was originally intended, I am sure ! Red Face
Still, find it in the end I did. Number 2 in the series was not number 2 found, but it doesn't matter when the walking and geocaching is so pleasant ! Smile
Thanks for the cache, Snuva !

Dang-bang it, a muggle was actually "having a seat"! Planned on coming back past this afternoon, but ran out of time. This gives me a very good reason to come back to this excellent reserve another day...

This was the only cache of the series that took me a few minutes to find. And that's because I didn't read the description properly! Somehow I also missed it on my way up, earlier on I'd thought it was further down when it was further up (would holding the GPS upside down do that?) and then I think I must have just ignored it. Anyway I got it soon enough, and I liked the seat. But it was a bit wet today so didn't take the opportunity to have a rest on it. Thank you Snuva, you've done an amazing job with this series.

10-Jun-10
#7 of the series, and the last for today (gotta spend SOME time at work!).
I'll finish the rest on the bike, I think...
Thanks!

DD thought that she knew where this cache was going to be. Wrong!!! It wasn't there at all it was on a different trail. However, we eventually located it and this became our sixth in the series. We were attracted the robot magnet, so T magnet L frog braclet (Do you see a theme here at all??) Then we headed off overland to the next cache - because once againt he trail didn't lie quite where we thought!!

Having found a sensible way to get to #8, this one wasn't a problem. Five down, five to go... but first a slight detour....
