Description

This is one of 10 geocaches placed in this area in honour of the 10th anniversary of the first geocache to be placed in Australia.

The GCAX series was published 18 May 2010 in honour of the first geocache to be placed in Australia, Lane Cove.  The series is made up of 9 traditional caches and one puzzle.  The puzzle is neither clever nor difficult; it's main purpose in life is to get you out and walking around the area - which is one of the things we all love about geocaching anyway.  Each traditional cache has a letter and corresponding number inside the lid.  As the cache descriptions do no t say which letter can be found in which cache, you won't know if you need to visit all or just some of the caches in the series to find the puzzle cache.  But hey - you wanted to do all of them anyway, didn't you?  ;-)  The caches are all easily accessible and within Knocklofty Reserve.

GCAX06: Flora has been placed to remind you to look out for the small flowers which can so easily be passed by.  This spot is full of beautiful wildflowers in spring and summer.

Logs

don't understand why I have never found this one before, thanks for the old cache

23-Jan-21
quick find with SSR while doing an adventure lab

23-Aug-19
A quick find whilst enjoying a walk in the area. Log was very soggy. TFTC
Cheers,
The Hancock Clan

11-Jul-19
Second GCA cache of the day. Knocklofty is a really impressive location with so many tracks and views (and hills!). I really enjoyed my walk this afternoon, wish I'd come earlier in my holiday. Cache was well tucked away but logbook a bit stinky.

30-Sep-18
out and about with the Rafas this series just had to be done, talk about flora it was full of water, logbook just usable but stuck together, left mark but need looking at, drying out if anything, lid was put on incorrectly, whole series wants a career. TFTC TNBPNL.

12-Feb-18
found it today

where I thought it would be on the previous visit

TFTC

17-Dec-17
After dropping off my son at the Aquatic Centre early this morning, the GeoGSP and I headed off for a walk in this reserve. Passed a few walkers, a few joggers, a few people also walking their dogs, and a few MTB'ers on the way to this one - it's a great area. found nice and easily, thanks for placing this series of caches up here Snuva.

11-Feb-17
needed an extra set of eyes and/or muscles to move a fallen limb for a better look

07-Feb-17
Second of a couple GA caches while up here today. I was a bit worried that the fallen branch would create a hassle but in the end, the cache was safe and sound and I used the branch as a platform to sign the log at 15:30 - the first signature in the logbook for 5½ years! Shocked

TNLNSL noted clue. Thanks Snuva.

17-Sep-11
Like some previous cachers I found this in the first place I looked, after looking various other places then coming back for a proper look in the first place.

14-Sep-11
We had a great day exploring this reserve, not being locals we were impressed with the well maintained tracks and the views were spectacular. Met lots of very friendly dogs and their owners enjoying the beautiful spring day. We underestimated how long the series would take us and ended up walking out in the dark. Thanks Snuva for another great cache. Clapping

13-Aug-11
3rd in the series. Enjoying the walk around the reserve. TNLN. TFTC.

05-Mar-11
As this was between two wide tracks we opened the cache a bit away from the site and just as well as a muggle came by on one of the tracks and turned onto the other. Took fish rubber and left rhinoceros.

16-Feb-11
With the tiger snake warning given to us by another walker as we started on this trek watching for moving sticks. Found easily. TFTC

29-Dec-10
Found with ease
TFTC

30-Oct-10
30/10/10
Rain was getting heavier as we headed back towards the car and as we were walking this way picked up this cache as well.

20-Oct-10
Ah, its time to get back into the swing of caching after work.
And what better way to start than a good walk up a hill.
Unfortunately, I was pushed for time as the gate closes at 7:30pm so it was a quick find and log, no swaps and off on my way over the top of the hill.
Thanks for the cache and the walk, Snuva. Very Happy

01-Oct-10
Our stamina was tested as we walked up this consistently demanding track. We eventually reached GZ and completed a quick find. Now we had all the information for the final cache in the series. TFTC

12-Sep-10
Found it second time round!!
Had previously had a quick look for this cache, but didn't have much time, and couldn't find it. Had a better look this time round and found it where we thought it would be. TFTC

12-Jul-10
Found my last of this series, bar the finis. Now to solve the puzzle on the run. TFTC

18-Jun-10
Signed as Half Dead Cyclist after riding up Forest Road and the fire trail with a friend new to caching. One more 'waypoint' cache to go!
Thanks

16-Jun-10
On the way from the last cache I passed a muggle, and just as well I took my time locating this one as she went zooming past as I was at GZ !
Thanks for the cache, Snuva ! Smile

14-Jun-10
Wow, loving this reserve! Went straight to GZ, couldn't find it, looked around for another 5-10 minutes only to discover it back in the original place I looked. Well hidden. Before finding it, I looked at a few other logs people had left for more ideas of where to look and read that apparently the gates closed at 16:15 and it was already 15:30. Signed log when found, thought I'd been muggled again, but instead had been wallabied, and hurried back out of the reserve. Will have to come back and finish this excellent series another day. TFTC series!

11-Jun-10
I really liked this one! I was sheltered from the wind and could sit down, retrieve the cache and sign the log on the naturally provided very comfy "seat"! The sun actually peeped through the clouds at that moment too. A very nice cache as they all have been. Thanks Snuva.

27-May-10
Our 2nd cache of the series. Found at 1130. TFTC

25-May-10
Got to this cache at 1210hrs and was about to take it from its hide when a muttly and his owner strolled towards me from downhill. We chatted for five or ten minutes before he moved on and the job at hand was completed. OldSaint.

23-May-10
It was with some regret that we turned towards this cache,as it meant we were going to miss getting one of the series today. However, the gate closes at 4.15pm and we weren't sure how far we were from the car, and didn't want to walk home! We had become a little laissez faire,as muggles weren't causing us too much trouble, but as we sat on the side of the track to log this one a couple appeared! Luckily we sort of knew them and they didn't actually seem interested in what we might be doing!! TN L frog bracelet. Thanks for a great afternoon (fewer thanks to the setter of the puzzle cache that stpped us getting ehre earlier and finishing the series!!)

19-May-10
I had some serious cache blindness on this relatively bold hide. It didn't take too long, but it certainly took me longer to find it than it should have.

Now it's off to the final location... yes, I did want to do them all! (-:
