Description

This is one of 10 geocaches placed in this area in honour of the 10th anniversary of the first geocache to be placed in Australia.

The GCAX series was published 18 May 2010 in honour of the first geocache to be placed in Australia, Lane Cove.  The series is made up of 9 traditional caches and one puzzle.  The puzzle is neither clever nor difficult; it's main purpose in life is to get you out and walking around the area - which is one of the things we all love about geocaching anyway.  Each traditional cache has a letter and corresponding number inside the lid.  As the cache descriptions do not say which letter can be found in which cache, you won't know if you need to visit all or just some of the caches in the series to find the puzzle cache.  But hey - you wanted to do all of them anyway, didn't you?  ;-)  The caches are all easily accessible and within Knocklofty Reserve.

found on an arvo of caching.... was looking for the nearby GC cache but found this one first.

09-Nov-18
These caches were a surprise, as we came up here to log a group of gc aches, but spotting these on the Garmin, it was great to find some of these as well. TFTC Snuva.

30-Sep-18

while up this way I called in on the off chance that this was still here and what do you know it was a lovely quick find
thanks for the cache

The GeoGSP and I enjoyed a lovely walk around this reserve this morning. Saw a lot of MTB'ers on our stroll, and also met a lot of other people walking their dogs - the GeoGSP loves meeting other dogs and often 'yells' out and says hello if he sees one in the distance, which can be very inconvenient if you are trying to sneakily sign a log book, or return a cache to it's hide. It took a few minutes for some passing muggles to disappear from view before this one was signed and logged. Thanks for this series of caches Snuva.

19-May-12
I finally found myself in a position to tackle these caches. Only did the northern ones but still enjoyed every cache. The coordinates were exactly spot on. Thank you Snuva

14-Sep-11
We had a great day exploring this reserve, not being locals we were impressed with the well maintained tracks and the views were spectacular. Met lots of very friendly dogs and their owners enjoying the beautiful spring day. We underestimated how long the series would take us and ended up walking out in the dark. Thanks Snuva for another great cache. Clapping

03-Sep-11
NIce day to take the dog for a walk in this reserve.

14-Aug-11
Went to the spot that a likely place and there it was. Took penguin rubber and left bird card. Although close to tracks no one came past.

13-Aug-11
6th in the series. Certainly lots of friendly muggles with friendly fourlegged muggles. Took Hookline Philosopy of Caching, left bear clip. TFTC.

21-May-11
Nice easy find, although we had to wait a while for passing muggles to dissipate before returning it.

16-Feb-11
With the tiger snake warning given to us by another walker as we started on this trek we watched the ground rather closely. 4th find in this series today. TFTC.

15-Feb-11
Where to indeed? There were so many different paths winding all over this hill that it started to become a bit of a confusing labyrinth, especially later in the day when we were hot and tired and trying to find a loop track back to the car, without much success. Basically, we just followed the GPS from cache to cache. So the answer is: on to the next cache!!

28-Jan-11
Nice easy find.TFTC

29-Dec-10
Found with ease
TFTC

30-Oct-10
I tried to find this one the other day when I did Quarried, but there were 3 mugglettes hanging around on the top path watching what I was doing. I spotted a likely hiding place and decided to return back to the car.
Today, we found the cache exactly where I figured it would be.
TNLN, thanks Snuva

30/10/10
Damn umbrella.......who would have thought a little party umbrella would hurt so much when trying to put the log book back in the cache

12-Sep-10
Found it, TFTC.
Where to from Here?? Pretty good question especially when I've misplaced the codes from some of the others in the series!!
Might have to revisit some of them at some stage to get the codes again.

23-Jul-10
A quick find during a very pleasant walk on an excellent winter's day. TFTC

21-Jun-10

16-Jun-10
So where to go for the next in the series......actually here ! Big Grin
A great still and cool winter's day - we'll see how many I can find ! Big Grin
Thanks for the cache, Snuva ! Big Grin

14-Jun-10
When I found this cache, I wasn't aware of the name of it until this very moment of logging. But it was just after this very cache, I took a bit of time out to work out where the other caches were placed, and which way would indeed be the best way to go to make the most of the incredible sunshine this afternoon. I chose upwards Smile TNLNSL.

11-Jun-10
I often find that this is a bit of decision making spot...do I want a shorter or longer route, flatter or up to the top? Today I continued on to an area I hadn't ventured to before! Thanks for another top cache, Snuva.

10-Jun-10
#5 of the series (3 were done on a previous trrip from a different start point).
Muggles appeared as I neared the cache, so I had to wait them out.
Thanks!

27-May-10
Our 5th cache of the series. Found at 1219. TFTC

25-May-10
This was next, logged at 1045hrs as the fourth in the series. Thought about which way to go and decided to go "northward." OldSaint.

23-May-10
This was our third cache in this series. Once again, it was not the cache that we had expected to come to next - but that's what happens when you don't know the area as well as you thought and don't bother to look at a map!!! T dog keyring L frog bracelet. Thanks!

19-May-10
Around the hill to this one, and I'm well hooked on this series and this area! Ordinarily I'd look at a network of tracks like this and want to put a tricky multi-stage puzzle on it, so it's quite a revelation that one can set up a cache series that makes use of this kind of location without all that frustrating puzzle hooplah... (-:

(I'm starting to regret that I didn't list at least some of the waypoints of my tricky multi-stage puzzle caches as separate caches...)

Now, where to from here...?
