Description

Picnic for Dayboro

For lovers of arts and culture, and Geocaching.

Dayboro is the town for you this Long Weekend.

This quaint village might be small in size but it's big on character with an array of quirky cafes, antiques, craft and gift shops and historical buildings.

For those of us who may be there and those of us who aren't able to traverse the country during these covid times, some G2G passes have been cancelled for getting back into WA.

If you are having a picnic anytime this Long Weekend, please feel welcome to join us Virtually, and log where you are enjoying your picnic.

Even if there is no picnic, please join us virtually, celebrating the success of the Mega Geocaching Event in Dayboro.

Let's see if we can make an attendance from all 7 States and Territories including those who are attending the Dayboro Mega, to those who are unable to attend the Dayboro Mega this weekend.

I have chosen the middle day of the Mega Event to hold this virtual event, as the Dayboro Mega Event runs from the 3rd - 5th April, 2021.

This Virtual Event is published  to meet the requirements of GA21076 Challenge ~ April spelt  in April 2021.

I attended the Dayboro Mega and while I was out and about grabbing a few caches, I ran into some friends at Apex park. We sat and had a picnic and waited for the rain to pass before hunting for 2 nearby caches. Thanks for the virtual cache, Pood.

Logging from the Dayboro Mega. Probably should have got in and had that picnic on Friday when the weather was only overcast as it's been raining most of the last two days. But nothing dampens the fun of a mega even if you have to move camp because it's looking like you're going to be flooded in. Great to meet up virtually with those who couldn't attend. TFTV pood.

Hi Pood, we're busy cooking chutney and homemade sauce so not really a picnic day for us but having the cupboard full of jars of our own produce is a great feeling. Hoping everyone is enjoying the Dayboro event, greetings from NW Tassie. Thanks for the chance to attend this virtual event

With the weekend off from work and my other plans didn't happen, I decided on heading to Canberra for the first half of the long weekend. I arrived on the Thursday afternoon and settled into my motel room and apart from getting dinner, (Domino's) I really just rested. This is because I had been up since 1:30am that morning for work and I decided that was the best thing to do. Friday morning, I headed off to visit some friends at the Tuggeranong Lutheran Church for the 'Good Friday' service. I decided on leaving early so I could do the walk around Jerrabomberra Wetlands to do the Lab and find the caches around it. Unfortunately, I had a DNF plus I didn't have time to get the AL bonus. I headed off to Church and it was a great service. I caught up with many friends and I was even invited out for lunch which meant I had even more time to catch up. It was a great lunch and we even played a card game which is like 'Phase 10'. It was time to leave and that is when I decided on find the bonus of the lab. This was a nice quick find before I headed back to my motel. I also logged a 'GCA Locationless Event' and now time for dinner. After dinner I logged some GCA Locationless Caches to fill in time. After a great night sleep, it was time to pack up and head off. My first stop was to collect the next answer in the ‘Looking at Canberra’ AL plus a few other nearby caches. One of which was the cache Henry Rolland. This was an evil hide due to the location but thankfully no one was paying attention and I made the find. Afterwards, I headed to Belconnen Mall for lunch and maybe some shopping. I walked around but didn’t buy anything except lunch. Next, I headed off to the Lake Ginninderra Dog Park to find some of the new GCA GeoArt caches. Time to head home and I decided on heading through Young to pick up the new cache there. A FTF on that one Big Grin! A great couple of days away and I look forward to my next geocaching day/weekend. Big Grin BUT… the weekend isn’t over yet. Happy Easter Everyone! Big Grin After attending Church throughout the morning, celebrating that Jesus has risen, it was time for lunch. After lunch, I started on claiming finds on GCA Locationless Caches to fill in time before heading out for dinner. TB visit on all caches. I would like to thank all CO's of the caches I found for allowing them to bring me and the rest of the Geocaching community enjoyment. TFTC's Big Grin

Beautiful day here in NZ with a picnic in the garden as we watch the Easter Egg Hunt. Weather has been kind to us all weekend. Thanks for organising.

04-Apr-21
Beautiful autumn day here in NW Tasmania so our Easter picnic in the back yard could go ahead. As our children are all adults and no grand children were present we dispensed with the egg hunt. Easter Bunny made his annual appearance.

Thanks for this cache POOD and the chance to catch up virtually with other attendees.

I'm attending the Dayboro Mega Event with my daughter Moogiechew. This is our third day camping at the Showgrounds. It has been enjoyable meeting new cacher friends. The weather has been rainy but any day is a good day to go caching. We are pictured cooking a pancake breakfast on Easter Sunday at the camp kitchen with an Easter egg chaser. We will complete some Adventure Lab activities at the grounds before heading out for the day. Thanks for virtual Pood.

We were planning on heading to Dayboro but pinned the pin nearly a week ago due to the Covid outbreak and the region being in lockwown. With Mr Shifter being in a high risk group we decided it may be too risky. Instead we are spending the weekend managing a national level sailing regatta, spending the days on the water waiting for the wind o come in and then watching the skiffs racing.
Happy Easter. We hope everyone enjoys their day.
Thanks for the virtual event pood.

Sadly no picnic for us over this Easter break as Mr dimor is working day shift which allows me to read a few books. With all the holiday makers down south I’d rather be at home.

Thanks for inviting us to the picnic at Dayboro.
Yes we actually made it to the official Mega.
In spite of Floods, Covid, and torrential rain, we did attend yesterday.
I had my photo taken with the Signal The Frog Banner and logged one of only two GC ultra rare ‘Locationless’ caches.
There were some really beaut gadget type Adventure Lab caches and we caught up with many friends there.
