Description

Epping Road hums above but below is a different world. The cache is UNDERNEATH the bridge.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS EPPING ROAD ON FOOT.

This cache was placed with assistance from a government grant organised by Sir Les Patterson (Cultural Attaché to the Far East and more recently Cultural ambassador to the United States).
Sir Les commissioned numerous artworks during his time as “Minister For The Yartz”. Most of them are no longer viewable by the average Australian, hanging in the apartments of the worlds rich and famous.
This obscure site showcases the work of local artists who have since probably encountered world renown or moved into other pursuits.
Parking is available at Mowbray Park Athletic Ground off Mowbray Road during daylight hours. Co-ordinates are S33º48.040 E151º08.762. There are traffic lights in both directions on Epping Road to turn into Mowbray Road. There is no pedestrian access on the Northern side of the bridge.
If you have walked or ridden to the cache along the Epping Road cycleway there are steps on the South Eastern side of the bridge that take you below the bridge. By vehicle park in the carpark and follow the track along the river bank to access the area below the bridge.

In the area scouting parking and access for a number of nearby caches, and realised I was close to this one, so despite the inclement weather I went for a short walk and quickly found the cache, nice and sheltered and surrounded by art! Thanks for the cache Team Lego Men

I happened to be staying in the area overnight and after catching up with my daughter at the Comic Con and catching up with cachers at a GCNSW event, I went home but was bored. So I decided to see what GCA caches there were in the area. Seeing there were a couple nearby and having a car handy to drive around, I decided that would fill some time. This one was very easy to find. I had an idea where it might be but thought I'd use the hint to help out. The cache was not near the hint but is now. haha.
Thanks for getting me out here and checking out the street art.

I was walking past here today and noticed it had been removed from its hiding place and was in full view. I put it back to where I remember it being (11 years ago when I found it apparently!) Seems that this is the first "find" in 4 years. I had a brief look inside and all seemed well.

In the area grabbing some GC caches. Was keen to see the artwork. On my way to GZ, encountered a couple of joggers coming the other way but after that, I had the place to myself. Spotted something worth a closer look and quickly had my name in the log book.

What a nice little spot Very Happy I headed out today with a few tasks on the "to do" list.

First up was to water my brother's garden while he's away. I got the hose from the back yard and hooked it up, dragged it to the front garden and turned on the tap - and the heavens opened. Sad There wasn't much shelter anywhere and it seemed unnecessary to do much more watering so I hightailed it to the car.

Next task was to find this cache which will give me some nice points for the Summer Scavenger Series. Since I hadn't originally thought it necessary to bring an umbrella, I was most pleased to discover a very close parking spot and a very, very dry location to open the cache and sign the log.

Thanks to Sir Les Patterson and the Lego Men

I was prompted to come down here looking for scavenge points and glad I did. What a fascinating project, still in quite good condition. A great tribute to Sir Les and the work he's done for Ostrailya. Thanks TLM.

After a visit to Australia's oldest cache we stopped here as I wanted a GCA traditional find in NSW. My planned one in the city was thwarted by the Vivid light show and too many muggles. This was the first GCA my friends had found as they didn't know about GCA. It has opened up a whole new set of caches for them. The boys took the hint and ran with it, finding the cache very quickly. Wow, has it really been three years since anyone found this?
I enjoyed this one quite a bit. I like the way the art transforms what would otherwise be something fairly boring into something worth seeing. Thanks for the cache.

This one is still safe and sound and a nice quick find, with a bit of art thrown in.

Came here after Kathleen Kapers and wanted to try for the Page Creek Multi, so parked and walked to the 'gallery' WOW, definately a sight to witness. Walked straight up to the cache in the only location I could see it being. Cool. SL. TNLN and returned. Nice gallery, wonder when it will be finished LaughingLaughing

Report: Well this was totally unexpected. Parking in a well familiar area (god there are some caches around here! Seems like it is taking forever to grab them all Very Happy) I began a successful 2011 Hunting Year with a bang. GZ is something else... very cool. Shame on those few who have tried to ruin it with tags Evil or Very Mad An easy find but still a memorable place. Make sure you have a walk around. From here I continued on to Pages Creek 2.0 which was tough, and Riverside Rambling which took a little while too. Glad to have them cleared! Cheers TLM!

Finally made it here after nearly getting here how many times. My sister used to do athletics on the nearby oval but I haven't been here since then. A quick little walk down the track to under the bridge where The Yart is and a quick find. Signed the log and continued on under the bridge for a bit of a look while the traffic thundered overhead.
Thanks!

I stopped by this park off Mowbray Road West (with a very convenient car park) on my way to a work-related event in the city. There were a few cars parked here and there but no-one in evidence or using the park in any way.

It took me less than a minute to discover the little path to GZ and the excellent clue meant that I very quickly achieved CIH.

The local trollish art was actually quite enjoyable, and I was only troubled by the less-talented local 'artists' who added a bit here and there with their spray paint cans. I guess there's no honour among graffiti enthusiasts . . .

Cache container was in good shape and the contents were all dry. TNLNSL.

Many thanks to Team Lego Men!

"Three Thumbs Up" for the nice Aboriginal-style artwork.

A nice easy one today, not too hard at all. No swaps. Athletics park was surprisingly quiet this afternoon. Then continued on to beat my head in frustration at the multi behind Maccas. Thanks Team Lego Men.

I have walked through here so many times over the last decade (well, at least since they built the LCT and filled in the previous rather dodgy pedestrian underpass). The artwork was such a change for the better over the talentless tagger grafitti, although it is strating to get overwritten. I was so surprised to see a cache here. Very easy find - although nearly knocked myself out by colliding with a concrete beam!

Parked the car, made the short walk and a quick find! Coords as spot on as they can be under a road!!! Nice artwork. TFTC

Found at 3:00pm in the rain. I took a chance parking where I did but it turned out to be the best place as I didn't read the description in my haste to get there. A short walk in the rain to discover some great street art. The cache located I was surprised to find I was only the second one here. Must have been the wet weather that kept everyone away.
No swaps made, log signed and I was off to make up for lost time.

Found this one at 11:50am today with no muggles in sight. Had to use the clue as I didn't have my GPSr on me. My second FTF!!! Thanks for the cache - I've walked through here several times and have never stopped to notice the art. Thanks again.
