Description

Battleship Game

Play Battleships. Sink the enemy ships before they sink you!

On your entry to the game you will be asked to create a playing area with a number of sea tiles. Your playing field is a grid 20 x 20 sea tiles making a total number of 400 possible areas you can target in your game of Battleships. A playing field is unique to each player so there is no benefit in teaming up to beat the system through brute force.

For each qualifying geocache that you hide or find during the game period you will be offered the opportunity to click on a sea tile and see whether you have make a hit. There are a number of different sea tiles that will be revealed when you take a shot at your playing area . It should be noted that there are no punishments for clicking a tile but there will not always be the reward you were hoping for as you reveal each tile.

You only receive points for a hit on a ship. Alas, shots that miss a target offer no reward.

Hoping to collect some ammunition for the Battleships Game we headed out today to reload our cannon in preparation for firing.

We enjoyed the journey through the rural countryside and travelling on roads not driven before.

Many thanks Budgietas for taking the time to place this Geoart Series.

Decided to tackle a few Geoart series in Hobart through the week, our day started at 6.00am today to head off to Hobart picking up as many caches as we could find. So it was over the Highland Lakes to target the Battleship series first. After encountering snow, ice and rain we picked up the the Trig in New Norfolk to stretch our legs from the 2.5 hour drive from the North West. Then it was on to the Battleship series. We broke the series up into what thought were manageable sections working from Lachlan through to Molesworth. Most of the hides were an easy drive by. We were very concerned by the amount of land owners in the area that stopped us asking what we were doing. As apparently a few of the caches were bordering on their properties. We were stopped by at least three people querying our intentions. Funnily enough I did know one of the owners in the area. He stopped us as we couldn't get past and confronted us. It took about a minute to work our who he was. A quick chat of what we were doing and we were on our way.Quite frankly I am glad this series is done. Cache maintenance on some of these caches would be recommended as there were some with broken sauce containers. Probably not a good choice to use.

Onward to the next series. Thanks Budgie for the series. TFTGAS Clan Cerberus

During the week Trimbletas and i made the decision that we would target some of the caches around the New Norfolk and Geilston Bay area. we planned to go up over the Highland lakes to Hamilton, then down to New Norfolk then over to Geilston Bay. Up bright and early we left the NorthWest at 6.00am as we approached the top of lakes highway we were greeted with around 4 inches of snow on the road, so it was into 4x4 and steadily along until we dropped down onto lake level. we detoured to grab the Bridge over Ouse cache then it was off to Hamilton.
We did a maintenance check of my caches along the way and they were all in great order still.
Arriving in Hamilton we snapped a photo of the trig then headed for New Norfolk where we took a short walk to the trig there, it was then onto the Battleship GeoArt series.
while completing the Battleship caches we were stopped by 4 different property owners concerned with what we were doing. we explained to them what were doing but they still seemed concerned. there was a few caches where we couldnt get off the road and cars came up behind us while we were signing the logs, so we had to try and move the ute out of the way.
After completing the battleship series we made our way through Molesworth and into Berridale where we crossed the Derwent River and headed for Natone Hill.
We got the information for WPT 1 of the Multi and set off in a clockwise direction of the reserve to complete the Smile and Blockage GeoArts, we got as far round as the trigpoint when it started to pour down with rain we got drenched as we bunkered under a tree to wait out the rain, as the rain eased we grabbed the photo of the trig then off to complete the rest of the caches. we got the rest of the info required for the Multi cache but as it was back where we came from we decide to leave it for next time. We really enjoyed completing the Blockage and Smile Geoarts. Thank you SSR and Goose&Egg.
After getting back to the ute and trying to dry out we decide to go check out where the Circle Geoart starts, once there we decided that we would complete it next time as it was getting dark.
A quick drive around to Government hill where we walked up to grab the trigs where we were met by another concerned owner, explained we were there to get a photo of the trig and he was happy to see us on our way.
We then headed for food at Bridgewater before our long journey home.
we stopped to complete several caches along the way and arrived home at 9.30pm. A great day was had with nearly 100 caches attempted for the day. TFTC

Headed out on a mission with Newy07 to find the entire Battleship GeoArt series to increase our shots for the Battleships game. Started the hunt at 1115 hrs and logged our last for the day at 1630 hrs and managed to find 44 of 48. This one being 30/48.
After intensive searching we failed to find BS42 and BS31 Brick Wall.
There were two blokes fencing at the exact location of BS48 which prevented us searching for that one Doh . Then a little further up the same road, at the exact location of BS38, there were two blokes cutting wood! DohDohDoh
But a great day was had nonetheless.

We enjoyed the art work around one of the properties on the way to this cache. The house was made from shipping containers. One container in the front yard was decorated with a spider in its web, very well constructed. There were the metal flowers and a magic mushroom circle. Another property had an array of motor bike helmets adorning its fence posts.

Again good coordinates enabled us to make a quick find. We were dismayed to find the container broken and its lid cracked. Again the log sheet was well protected and dry.

Thanks for this cache and your GeoArt series Budgietas. It took us on roads we had not travelled before and enabled us to discover some interesting rural environments.

I drove round to pick up the goose at 9 with no firm plan of where we were going, but with four GeoArts to pick from we had options, after a talk with goose and a weather update from our barista we picked Battleship to start our day, while a little damp it didn't rain too much to put us off and we made some great finds before finishing the 48 caches off and heading into NN for a feed.
As we enjoyed pizza I talked goose into the fact that we could 'nip' down to Judbury if we used the back road and finish the day doing Hearts in the Hartz series along with a few other caches on the way.
After the easy battleships we were not loving these hearts at all with some of the hides being right stinkers and more than once I expressed my feeling on the matter "I say Goose I do believe that Old Saint may have out done himself this time, as pleasant as it is to stand in inches of water with twigs in my ear I do feel that I may have to have polite chat with old saint about this very matter"
This is clearly not what I said at all but is the GCA approved translation of what I actually said 2 or 3 times.
I had a great time today so would like to thank OS and Budge for putting these GeoArt out for me to find.

When we left home we couldn't see very far in front of us Anxious but one of the girls at our coffee stop said it was fine in Austins Ferry so we decided to head out this way and search for the battleship. All SSR and I took to battle was a pen, some water, and rain coats (that we didn't need to wear).
We traversed the high seas, ok high hills really, and by lunchtime had overcome the mighty ship to win this epic battle .. so grabbed some lunch at the New Norfolk market before heading south to win Old Saints heart.
Thanks Budgietas for this geoart series.

We decided to head out today to tackle this newly created Battleship geoart as the weather is meant to go downhill for the rest of the week. It was a balmy 18 degrees by the time we finished. We took about four hours including a lunch stop from 1st cache to last found. Thanks Budgie for creating the series and taking the time to hide the caches. It was a great day out driving on a lot of roads we haven't been on before. Accurate coords and generous hints made for quick finds. A nice view. TFTGA

Hi Budgie...a nice easy find here with a joint FTF with Old Saint.

The weather was quite cool and noticably colder the higher we went.

The micro containers are holding up well to the weather with all of them bone dry inside.

We had a lovely lunch break mid afternoon in the picturesque Lachlan bbq area.

I had an awesome day caching with a good mate and travelling over many backroads that I've never been to.

The views from the various vantage pts were awesome.

Many thanks for a great series of caches for us all to enjoy and to participate in the BS games...very much appreciated.
Cheers ST.   Clapping

To date, the co-ords have been really good
All three of us enjoyed the day together, lunching at the Lachlan BBQ area
It was great to cache with Sirius
About 40 or 41 caches were found today
And thank you for hiding and publishing these caches for our enjoyment and enjoy them we did
