Description
A Geoart series celebrating the music of U2
My first attempt at some Geoart!
A couple of years ago I completed a series of geocaches around Lake Googong in Canberra which celebrated the music of Queen, and since then I've wanted to do something similar for the band U2 (I'm a bit of a fan, my first German Shorthaired Pointer was called 'Bono').
The introduction of the Geoart type in GCA seemed like the perfect opportunity to realise this little goal, and I've finally got myself organised to put the series together.
I wasn't sure how I was going to select a reasonable number of songs for the series, so decided on the setlist for the concert I went to in December 2010 in Melbourne - the only time I have seen the band live!
Here is the setlist from that night:
- Return of the Stingray Guitar
- Beautiful Day / Here Comes the Sun (snippet)
- I Will Follow
- Get on Your Boots
- Magnificent
- Mysterious Ways / My Sweet Lord (snippet)
- Elevation
- Until the End of the World / Anthem (snippet)
- I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For / Into My Arms (snippet)
- Mercy
- Bad
- In a Little While
- Miss Sarajevo
- City of Blinding Lights
- Vertigo / Highway to Hell (snippet) / Devil Inside (snippet)
- Funky Town (snippet) / I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight / Relax (snippet) / Two Tribes (snippet)
- Sunday Bloody Sunday / Get Up Stand Up (snippet)
- Scarlet
- Walk On / You'll Never Walk Alone (snippet)
Encore
- One / I'll Stand By You (snippet)
- Amazing Grace (snippet) / Where the Streets Have No Name / All You Need Is Love (snippet)
- Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me
- With or Without You
- Moment of Surrender
'Vertigo' is from U2's 2004 album 'How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb'. A cracking song, with another great filmclip.
Parking is tricky close to GZ, there is room for about one car on each side of the road, so take care if approaching by car.
Take care retrieving and returning the cache. You may need a TOTT!

Back down south hunting GA caches for some more BS game ammo.
The 2nd find for the day but had trouble extracting as Old Saint must have long fingers.
Not to be deterred, I cut a small piece of wire off the fence which worked a treat.
I've left said impliment close by to aid further extractions.
Muggles were about early too so had to constantly keep a lookout.
An exc hide...thoroughly enjoyed...many tftc and series...cheers ST.
Thanks for this cache Lil Rafa. There were no birds on the water here today.
Returned today to find those caches in this series that I had not found
Found all but two of the remainder - "Elevation" and "Walk On"
The views associated with the caches found today were impressive, especially on such a nice Winter's Day
In all today I managed to find 17 GCA caches and 1 GC Cache
In so doing; I expended 1505 calories using 10730 steps to cover a distance of 8.1km
This was a quick find; Sainting it at 1412 hours

Cheers OldSaint
After so much rain we were pleased to see a dry day, and even a bit of sunshine. SSR picked me up and, after a very long wait for coffee, we were on our way in search of U2. We had 2DNFs, lots of short walks, some very sloppy ground, some wonderful scenery, a few groans, many laughs and plenty of finds.
Thanks for the series Lil Rafa
As for the finds we had a good day finding a few different hides around the area, I guess this is Lil Rafa's stomping ground/walking route as there was lots of places I didn't know were accessible.
Thanks for a great day out.
Thank you for the great string of Geo Art Caches. A series to Recognise the music of U2 is well deserved and this series is very good, fitting of the band. A variety of cache hides and some great locations. A couple of new locations as well!
Thank you for the series
