Description
A gentle walk through some creekside bush, followed by a hunt among the rocks.
This geocache is one of the more typical types we first experienced in our early days of geocaching.
The bushland that runs along the banks of Terry's Creek is sandwiched between Marsfield and Epping. Like most pieces of bush in Sydney's surburbia it faces stress from pollution and out of control weeds. Thankfully, volunteers are doing their best to reverse these negative effects.
To find this cache you have two options:
- Park as close as you can to GZ and bush bash through 100 metres of unforgiving scrub, possibly raising the interest and possible ire of the neighbours
- Park at the end of Pembroke Road, north of the cache, and walk for 650 metres along a reasonably well maintained path. This will bring you to within 40 metres of GZ, which is relatively easy to get to.
This cache was placed as part of Geocaching Australia's 10th anniversary celebrations.

Came with alnic39 to find this cache Al found the ammo can and then wanted me to take a photo of the occassion he wore a tutu for the game. Well he did have some shame he wanted the photo taken before the group of walkers that we could hear approach. Then a walk back to the car and head up to the CITO.
Both the cache and log are in good condition. Thanks for the cache The Spindoctors

This was a bit of fun. I came with phlphotos and was pleased to find an ammo tin of this size. Being that it is geosportz time, I had donned the orange tutu to earn some points for the game. Luckily I have no shame.

I've visited the northern end of the track previously but never ventured this far along. Took Baktrak's shortcut which had me at GZ in no time at all. Passed plenty of neat piles of cuttings so looks like the bush care is still ongoing. Spotted the cache as soon as I rounded the corner and wondered how it hadn't been muggled. Happy to report that the container and contents are in excellent condition. One of the PlayStation games inside - Spyro the Dragon, brought back memories of playing this game with the kids when they were younger. Signed log and noted over 18 months unloved. Returned container a little bit further into the darkness than where I found it.

a bit tricky to find the right boulder. if late after noon take a torch and repellent. lots of mozzies.
Ignoring the smell, this is not a bad area. Enjoyed the pleasant walk and found the GZ easily. Finding the cache proved a little more difficult but I got there eventually. I’m quite impressed with this one: nice area, well hidden and interesting things inside. I was beginning to think I’d never see anything in a geocache other than Macca's toys. Thanks!

What a nice area to visit once you get past the rubbish and sewer smell (Sydney Waters is working on the sewage line!)
A very pleasant walk all by myself, not a soul to be seen, plenty of bird life and the odd Water Dragon, they must be plentiful in the heat of summer.
No problem getting to GZ and the hiding spot was apparent from a short distance away. Sure enough the large cache was uncovered and the log signed. A pleasure finding s large cache in what is after all an urban setting.

Woohoo! Very happy to have been the first person to find it in 496 days (or 1y 4m 9d), and glad that it's still there and in great condition! Found with a mate whom knows of geocaching but isn't actively involved but we both needed to get outdoors, so we took a nice (but long!) bush walk from Eastwood to Macquarie through Terrys Creek Walk and Lane Cove Valley Walk. After making it to GZ without too much trouble, he caught a glimpse of the edge; spotted it before I did! After struggling to open the ammo can (come on, it was my first ammo can find!) First find of the day on my biggest geocaching day (7/7, plus this one!), and first ever GCA cache! Lovely spot and nice little hide, TFTC

After almost a year without a find I decided to drop by and check on this geocache. All is good with quite a few swaps. And yes, it's an ammo can.
I've walked much of Terry's Creek before. This particular section is not as clean as other parts, but the weed police (bless them all) are hard at work there so it will improve.
OCM showed a track starting near Menzies Rd which looked like a short approach. Short? It actually went directly to the cache!
And it's certainly pleasing to find a proper cache again. Decent-sized, clean and dry and with plenty of good swag. I had nought to swap so just inked the book. Thanx spindocs.

I can imagine early indigenous people finding this a very enticing place to live. There are some wonderful rocky overhangs that would have provided shelter with the creek so close. They would be horrified to see the state of the creek now, stagnant water full of rubbish wash down in the last storm. Great hunt on an autumn afternoon. Thank you.

While my son warmed up for his soccer match nearby, I had a nice gentle walk down for an easy find.
It was a nice walk, shame about the smell!!!

Another nice ride by MTB along the creek; quiet, pleasant location for the cache. Took DVD left CD; TFTC!
It's a really nice walk along the creek to this cache. Nice big ammo tin with some interesting contents. TNLNSL TFTC Spindoctors.
It was great to be in the shade of all the trees today as we walked along Terrys Creek. There was plenty of water around after the wet summer we've been having and it's interesting to see the bits of bush regeneration done here. What a massive job it would be to eliminate all exotic plants, quite sad really. But the wildlife doesn't seem to care too much what sort of trees feed and shelter them. I saw a massive water dragon in the rocks
When I got home, I discovered that there was a "power trail" of 5 gnomes placed between where we parked the car and this cache It's amazing that we walked past the lot of them totally oblivious to the caches we could have picked up!
Thanks for the walk Spindoctors, I've never been here although it's pretty close to home.

This was actually rather a quick find, mainly on account of doing it with my Brother-in-law, who happens to live near by in Dence Park!
Because he is so familiar with this lovely bit of bush, and its trails, we parked at the swimming pool car park, and were at GZ in 10 minutes, following the paths virtually all the way. I was able to impress him with 'geosense', and I suggested we might try first "over there"; lo and behold, the ammo can revealed itself!
Top cache, Spindoctors! Unfortunately, I didn't work out the final co-ord for your near GC cache until I returned home, or I'd have been after your double!

This park is just as stunning on the second visit. There's still plenty of spider flowers in bloom, and many of the trees and shrubs are cracking their pods open. Gorgeous!
Went with my little 5yo.
Took the wrong trail from the Dence Park Aquatic Centre and ended up at Epping Rd to cross the creek. The shorter route starts along the road that says "No Entry" that gives delivery access to the pool.
Great spot with the small waterfall nearby. Watch out for mozzies. Note to self: don't forget the Aerogard! The little one was frantic trying to kill them before they ate her alive.
Left a toy car. Took gold beaded necklace.

After 3 DNF's in 2 days, I was unhappy needed a quick find to make me happy again. I followed gps and it took me to Menzies Road, Sth of the cache. I took a chance and found a track that lead me straight to GZ. Climbed down and found it in 10 seconds. My heart started to rebuild, and my love of Geocaching uplifted once more . SL in peace and quite, yes it is nice at GZ. TNLN TFTC.
Following tronador's advice in an earlier log, I parked in the main car park above the well sign-posted Epping Aquatic Centre, off Stanley Road (less than 300 metres from GZ), and checked out the two entrances to 'Terry's Track' at Dence Park -- one at each end of the car park. The correct entry was easy to find, and led not only down to Terry's Creek but into an interesting network of rain forest trails.
I missed the final 'informal' little trail up to GZ so bush bashed a few extra metres, but this shouldn't be necessary if you're attentive to your GPSr. And you'll enjoy the CO's choice of a hiding place -- what an exceptionally lovely spot!
The classic cache container was in good shape, located exactly as per the online description, and the contents were dry despite the rather damp 'feature' only a few metres distant. TNLNSL.
What a shame so few geocachers make the short trek to Terry's Trek. It's not that difficult (unless you ignore the CO's extremely good advice and try to bush bash the whole distance) and is a beautiful place. There's even plenty of parking available.
Anyhow, thanks to The Spindoctors for a good one. Very much appreciated! 'Five Thumbs Up' for a the natural beauty of the cache location.

Thank you tronador for the reminder. I realised a few logs back that I had the wrong road on in the description. The road should have read Pembroke not Vimiera. Hopefully that will clear up the confusion.
I was looking for a nice bush stroll and found it with this cache. Finding access was a little troublesome cause Vimera Rd north of the cache is no where near the creek and joins Epping Rd. So I took some past advice and parked at the Epping Aquatic Centre. It was here that I found the Terry Track walk signposted. I followed this across the creek and then found a side track all the way to GZ. The frogs were really loud. At first I didn't know what they were. And a really big cache too. Lots of bird life, this is a lovely walk and a great cache hide.
the track goes on to Vimera Park on one end and up to Brownes water hole at the other end. Maybe you can get access from this park which is south of the cache but I'm still stumped as to where on Vimera Rd north of the cache you meant.

Argh the Spindoc's always hunt (or hide!) in Pairs. Completeing the amazing nearby Mystery Cache on GC I had to complete the walk down to this one too. At GZ and on the way out I CITO'd as much as I could unprepared as I was and this cache has inspired me to make more effort in this regard in the future. GZ was a top spot made so much nicer by a quick clean up. Container is as expected and awesome as usual. Very much enjoying discovering hidden pockets of bush on my doorstep. Great Work Spindocs! "****" Recommended.

Coming from a nearby GC cache, it was pretty dark by the time I reached GZ. Shame because they bush seemed really nice (even in the darkness). But following the path paid off as I realised I reached a point at which bush bashing made sense. Now I can't stay I enjoy night caching because I am not that good in the daylight and only seeing a limited area from a torch light doesn't help me. But I climbed here and there and with the rocks, my GPS wasn't being all that helpful. Given this didn't seem that hard from the logs, I persisted into the dark until the cache was found. I was hungry, tired and needed to check in at the hotel so I didn't linger long. Sadly I brought a swaggie all the way from Wollongong but failed to drop it off in my rush By the time I realised, I wasn't turning around. It was a good hunt and a nice walk in and out.

There are two ways to tackle this cache and unfortunately on our first attempt we chose the wrong one. Came in off the closest street thinking it can't be too hard to go straight line for 60 odd metres.
The blackberrys and very dense bush made us give up eventually. After studying the map at home decided it would be much easier to approach this from Dence Park.
Returned today and easily found a well signposted track down to Terry's Creek and a nice crossing point with concrete stepping stones that put us on the track on the eastern side of the creek.
From there it was easy going, with about 40m to go we saw a side track and GZ was soon reached.
Nice little waterfall nearby, and good sized cache. Thanks Spindoctors for another cache in a good bush area. This needs more visitors.

Found the correct track in and a pleasant walk down through the forest it was indeed once away from Epping Road. Got to the suggested 40 metres, oh look there is a minor track heading in the right direction. Up the hill and the GPS overshot a bit, but that gave me better reception and I was soon pointed back to the correct spot for a quick easy find. Very pleasant area for a stroll, would be nice to head the whole way down sometime. Thanks Spindoc Bob - my first 10 year anniversary cache.

Finally we had a day without rain and made our way through the bush from the track at the Epping Road end (Terrys Ck bridge) past the Aboriginal rock art cave (use your imagination) over the plank bridge and on to the beautiful little spot on the faint track away from the main track. It was getting very dark in there at 5pm but we managed to find it, lucky we had a torch. Second to find! We took the PT and GC and left a novelty marker. Nice cache indeed, deserves more visitors, if anyone's doing the mystery cache in the same region then they should do this as well. Thanks!

WooHoo..FTF. It was late afternoon when I started off and found a really easy way in. Rabbits looked up in surprise and then took off as I approached them. I found a "path" and followed it right to GZ.
A well concealled cache in a neat place. I sat and filled in the log book and didn't mind being bitten by the occasional mossie. This was a special moment for me and I let it sink in. Left just as it was getting dark.
Took Path Tag (thanks) and borrowed the Garmin Maps DVD which I shall return. Left Soccer coin.
Thanks to The Spindoctors for an enjoyable hunt.
