Description

Butterfly Totem - Caroline Springs Walk

The totem at this location resembles a butterfly, so why not encourage someone out to this area to check out the artwork, the raised metal walkway, the viewing platform and the (completely missing) kangaroos that used to frequent this area.

Caroline Springs, just 25km west of Melbourne is a thriving community with a great trail of paths and walkways between the artificial lakes, ponds and creeks. Set in 800 hectares of grazing land Caroline Springs was developed on greenfield land since starting in 1999. At the north of the suburb is the town square and main shopping centre known as CS Square, and a man-made lake known as Lake Caroline. This series of geocaches takes you along some of the lesser-known pathways around various creeks and waterways on the edge of Caroline Springs.

The cache you seek is a 200ml Sistema container pained to blend into the surrounds. Always be aware of snakes around water and leaves and think before you put your hands into any hole or where you can’t see the ground.

Today we started caching in the area and this was one of 21 caches we found.

Container broken and A very sodden log book here, but we were still able to sign it.

Many thanks caughtatwork for placing this series of caches, we enjoyed our wander around the area.

Our GPS wanted to take us to one side of the walkway but the cache was actually on the other. Unfortunately the lid of the container was cracked but the contents were dry. However, we are not confident that the contents will remain dry during the winter months. Thanks caughtatwork for the cache and the series.

Last for the day as the heat was getting a bit much after almost 3 hours...and now I see a missed a couple, so will need to come back anyway.

Arrived at GZ and the container out in the open, with no log, no pen or information card...as per all the other caches. Grabbed the cache and a bit of scrap paper I had, signed that and left it in the cache. Placed the container under the boardwalk, next to the platform, so should be good now.

Thanks for the caches [email protected] to visit Zoney McZoneface after all these years. DancingDancing

###FTF###

I pulled out the treadly dusted off the cobwebs.

After dropping the geodaughter at school I headed to the springs area for some smileys.

Well I'd spied the previous end so was more prepped here.

There it was quite quickly.

I signed and moved on.

TFTC Very Happy
