Description

Darwin Airport Visit

This cache has been placed in the gardens just outside Darwin Airport.
There is a path from the Airport Terminal that leads down to the carparks, this garden and then goes on to the airport hotels.

So if you have time, take a wander down the path, through the garden and enjoy this interesting space.

The Matboerrma Garden has been established to showcase different groups of plants commonly found in the Top End.
The garden uses the Aboriginal language names for the plants and there is information showcasing each plant's special properties.

There is no need to leave the gravelled path to make the find.
So you should be safe from those nasty green ants that seem to be everywhere!
There is quite a bit of tree cover, so use the hint to make the find if you are having trouble with the coordinates.

Cache has been hidden as I thought that Darwin needed some more GCA physical caches and this airport garden provides a great spot.
It would be great if cachers can help with maintenance, as I am not a local.

We stayed at the airport hotel overnight last night, we're off to other parts today. On my morning walk as the sun was rising, I wandered around the fairly empty airport, and made a quick find here. I needed the hint, as the GPSr sent me over on to the grass initially. I thought it was missing at first, but spotted it with a torch a foot away from where I suspect it was hidden. The log was damp, but signable. Rehidden, covered with a rock. TFTC!

I saw this one on the radar when I was planning my trip to Darwin. I thought once I picked up my rental car keys I could swing by on the way to the car park. WELL no one told me that they have moved the rental car park to the OTHER end of the facility. Im just glad my suitcase had wheels. it was bad enough that when I left home in NSW at 5am that I had jeans, a jumper and singlet and a short sleeve top on but seriously the 35 degrees was just a bit rough even for an old Darwin girl. This is the reason for my escape from Darwin years ago.
I was determined to get this one before I left again maybe never to return Neutral
I dropped my luggage off at the terminal and headed straight out here for a find. What a lovely garden with interesting plants and names.
