Description
Burke and Wills (Traditional): The fate of Mahomet.
Dost Mahomet, Burke and Wills' Afghan camel driver, chose to settle in Menindee. He'd lost an arm following a run-in with a camel, but found work in the bakery of William Ah Chung, which is today an art gallery on Menindee Street. In the aftermath of the expedition, when accounts were being settled back in Melbourne, Mahomet's formal request to be paid at the full rate of his European colleagues – £10 a month – was rejected.
Mahomet died some years later; his grave is just outside the township of Menindee.

In Menindee for two nights. Great to pick my first ever B&W caches.

Top cache. Wind blowing hard, stirring up dust, the sky a dark brownish grey and rumbling, I wandered around trying to make a quick find so as to return to the safer car. Spotted at last, I signed the log and beat a retreat back to the car. TFTC Black Bunny.

While travelling around NSW we came to this B&W traditional. I love the Virtual series of these caches and am incredibly impressed by the traditionals that you have placed nearby. Thanks Black Bunny for this great cache which is in excellent condition. Log was signed.

once i figured out which bush, cache was found quickly. another large sized cache in the middle of nowhere - good to see. found during a family trip from Canberra to Broken Hill to Lightning Ridge to Canberra. TFTC.

Having a look around Menindee on a day trip from Broken Hill - love these GCA large caches too - a very interesting story to this one. Left a vintage Big Pineapple bracelet charm. The cache is all good after the very heavy downpour and flooding in the past week. TFTC

GCA 4,322. Found during our 2020 Outback Adventure tour.
Day 6 - and we travelled down from Broken Hill to Wentworth via Menindee. A good fun drive to collect this one.

Staying at Broken Hill for a couple of days we decided to explore Menindee and surrounds. As it turns out this area is a hot spot for Burke and Wills virtuals and traditionals.
Arrived at GZ and soon had cache in hand. This cache deserves more visits and our thanks to Black Bunny for placing this cache and bringing us here.

Found it yesterday with the kids, great way to spend some time together. My son took a whistle and tried to leave my nirvana cd but I convinced him to leave something eles, he decided on a Bertiebeetle.
