Description

"The cache is not at the given co-ordinates."

The cache is magnetic and contains log only. Please replace it as found. A writing implement will come in handy.

To date as far as I can work out, there have been eleven (11) cachers cursed due to their FTF on the COFTF series. Theirs names are the clue(s) to this cache. We still await the next COFTF.

The cache will take you to of one of the oldest in Tasmania, if not Australia. Its history is at GZ.

This is my inaugral attempt at this type of cache, so for those of you that enjoy a puzzle cache, please enjoy, here goes;

The cache is located at:

South(DippedidoodaDnA)*(CheesypigsMarchBrownCatwomanauSwampy,DippedidoodaRapidsupreme).(OldSaintredtag,DnaSwampyDancesports,OldSaintCheesypigsCatwomanau)

East(redtagDippedidoodaDancesports)*(SwampyDnA,ReborncyclistRapidSupremeCheesypigsMarchBrown).(RebornCyclistredtag,MarchBrownSwampyRapidSupreme,

DnaSwampy)

Good luck and enjoy!!! Cheers OldSaint.

OldSaint thanks for the cache.

I had looked at this one many times with no idea now what I was supposed to do.
When EeePees said he had worked it out he gave me a little nudge but that was a couple of months ago and I had forgotten what he said.
A couple of days ago I thought I would have another go trying to remember what my friend had said I eventual had to ring and ask for another hint.

To night as I arrived at GZ I was happy my working outs were correct as I made a quick find.

A combined effort with EeePees. Thanks for the cache OldSaint. Been a while between finds, and a nice bit of history revealed. Located on a school night, just before the rain set in Smile Cache is in good order.

Hi OldSaint, well this was an interesting exercise. Lil Rafa and I are planning an attack on a bunch of Meehan Range caches sometime soon, and so also checked to see if there were any GA caches thereabouts. The map shows 3 puzzle caches, this being one. The puzzle initially gave no easy answer to the coordinate minutes! A night or so later some plausible co-ords were extrapolated, but the absence of a geo checker left uncertaintity.
Oh well, the resultant GZ didn't look too far off the beaten track, so Lil Rafa and I decided it was worth a visit after work today to check if the solution was correct. Got to GZ, and hey presto!
Got to love that. One less to do later. THANKS for the cache. Nice to also share the first find here in nearly 3 years, with Lil Rafa.

Founds today in 30+ degrees. Worked it out last night, oldsaint gave a hint a couple of weeks ago which I vaguely remembered. Great hide at an intesting point. TFTC

Cache finally logged! There might have been an incident or two along the way, however.... firstly I fell in the creek after visiting the prelude cache (A Da Vinci Cache), then today I managed to get my car bogged when parking near to the final WP. Luckily somebody was passing byb with a ute and offered to assist me in reaching more solid ground. Thank you to OldSaint for a hint or three along the way which kept me on the right path.

Finally able to complete this one with help from OldSaint. Would never have got there, so thanks for the hint, for the cache and the history lesson which was very interesting and at a spot we had visited before but did not know about the history. Clapping

We had looked at this cache some time ago and got part of the solution quite easily. However, we got stuck with the remainder of the coordinates. We left it for some time and, on return, were not able to make further progress. A request to Old Saint, a quality nudge and we were on our way to solving the puzzle. Today we visited GZ and a quick find was made. We also enjoyed the historical information at GZ. TFTC Old Saint.

Sorry this has taken a while to log but have been out of range much of the time. Embarassed What a great puzzle and so straight forward. One of the easiest and quickest to solve puzzles we've ever done, that's for sure. Could see how to solve it just by looking at it, can't understand why others have had any difficulty. Very clever and a great final hiding spot with great history to accompany it. Thanx Old Saint for the cache. Twisted Evil

Found after a hint from Old Saint - Great puzzle and location for the cache. Very appropriate.

TFTC and the puzzle.

I may have overheard some sort of conversation about this one during an event 300km away from the cache location Wink So this was quite an easy find considering! Nice cache placement, and an interesting read. Thanks for the cache OldSaint Very Happy

Well, didn't that take a while!
I tried this, then that, then the other, all sorts of statistical analysis, but nothing happened.
I even tried guessing a location (based on the cache name), went there, and found exactly what I expected (and in fact something very like the eventual cache location) but no cache.
I was too stubborn to ask for a hint, though.
Eventually, The Da Vinci Cache was published, and I quickly got the FTF and a clue to A Cursed Bunch, but I still couldn't make headway.
Finally OldSaint sensed my struggle, and sent me a small hint. It took another 15 minutes, but I was there!
The coords looked a little strange in Google Maps, but I was now sure.
I had to go to Launceston to umpire netball for the weekend, and on the way back, decided to detour to GZ. As soon as I pulled up I knew where it was, and the log was quickly signed.
Phew! The curse is finally lifted!
Thanks, OldSaint!

Tried for this one on the return journey from Devonport after solving it at the event, but had the coords off by 20 meters. Returned today and success. Thanks old saint a great puzzle.

Well that was one of the most unique puzzle experiences! I'd looked at it on and off quite a bit but I wasn't making much headway with the second half (even after the note/revisions were added). So I decided to ask Old Saint if he was willing to give a hint at this stage. He was most helpful and I think he thought he'd all but told me the coords. Unfortunately I still wasn't getting any likely answers, so I had to ask again. This time I'm sure he'd thought he'd completely given the game away, but unfortunately I still couldn't get anything like likely coords. I started to believe that there was something wrong with the puzzle...but no, it was me, and with a further hint (by which time Old Saint was banging his head against the wall) the method in his madness became clear!!! The puzzle DOES work, there is a system, and it led me to a neat little location with a neat little cache. Thanks very much for the cache, the cursed puzzle and your patience and help Old Saint! It turned into quite an experience!

Hi to you all, having spoken with DnA! He advised me there was a mistake with the colour coding in this cache and that has now been corrected. I was also advised to add commas at the appropriate places and have done that too! It was thought that the degree of difficulty should be increased, so it was. I have also added another clue for you to use. It was also pointed out by redtag that RebornCyclist has yet to score a COFTF - my computer only showed his name on the last one - but that makes no difference to the co-ord calculations. Now, I apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused my fellow cachers, but it will all work properly now. Hopefully my next unknown will be better; it's on the drawing boards. Thanks for your DnA! and redtag - Cheers for now, OldSaint.

The red tag team had been working on this one for quite a while and an elegant solution was finally determined Very Happy - with just a little hiccup! Confused we managed to fumble our way to GZ, and a cache was waiting for us ! Dancing
Many thanks, OldSaint, a nice hide for this spot ! Clapping

We have spent too many hours pondering over this puzzle. We were able to work out the first half but unable to solve the remainder. This put us within a search area of approximately 12,000 square kilometres.
Having narrowed it down this close, we went with a hunch and managed to locate the cache surprisingly quickly in the first place we looked.
Sorry Old Saint, we haven't solved your puzzle but we did manage to find your cache. We agonized over logging this cache because we didn't solve the puzzle, but we figured a find is a find so we will claim the FTF. I guess you could say this was "A Lucky Cache" for us. TFTC Old Saint.

A COFTF tribute cache! Awesome! If only I wasn't 17000kms away!!! I guess this is just another one of those caches I'm looking forward to doing when I get back.

I hope you enjoy the cache, I think it will work!!! Tee Hee. Cheers OldSaint.
