U turned just uphill from GZ. Spotted the blue historic water trough through the long grass, took pic of the trough and logged the cache, and remembered to collect the required number for the final. All good here DEZ055

visited here last year. great to see someone cares enough to bring history back to life. tftc
Out and about with Tassie Trekkers finding caches that have appeared since our last visit to the area. We are enjoying our tour of Railton and surrounds. This was another interesting stop. One we wouldn't have known about without geocaching. TFTC

Today we explored Railton and surrounds with whitewebbs and this series was on our to do list.
We have visited Railton many times caching and were pleasantly surprised to visit some new and interesting locations.
Many thanks dez055 for placing and maintaining these caches for our enjoyment.

A quick find near a great piece of history.
Trough looks like it fills from a spring, though only a trickle.
There was a lot more water flowing in the channel beside the pipe.
Thoroughly enjoyed this stopover....cache is in top condition.
Many tftc....much aporeciated...cheers ST.

The last of the series that I can complete today. An old water trough that I suspect most travellers would not know about. Finding this location and the last, Dick Lowes Bridge are one of joys of geocaching as hidden gems of history are brought to our attention. Thank you for the series. I look forward to completing the last two on my return visit.

After finding the cache at Dick Lowes Bridge we continued up the Sheffield Road to the old water trough. The road used to be much closer to this trough and locals used to stop to collect the mineral water that flowed into it. Sometimes this caused traffic hold ups because the water collectors failed to pull to the side of the, then, rather narrow road. Fortunately for cachers seeking this cache the road has been realigned and there is ample parking close to the trough.
The cache was easily located due to accurate coordinates and the log signed.
Thanks for this cache DEZ055. This place is well worth a visit though the water in the trough is very, very dirty an stagnant. It seems as though the water from the spring now by passes the trough.

Today's plan was to head to Sheffield and grab the two Lab caches there and then head down to Railton to attempt this new series of caches. Unfortunately the best laid plans don't always work out and after getting 3 of these we had to leave the area for a family emergency.
This was the first tackled and the GARMIN wanted us on the other side of the road and in an area where there was nothing that fit the clue.
We did check a few places but came up empty handed.
So common sense finally prevailed and we headed to a spot with great parking and something that definitely fitted the clue. There was the cache and even though the garmin still wasn't happy the ETREK indicated we were spot on.
Thanks for placing these caches, hopefully we'll get back soon to do the last 3 and the final.
