Description

Welcome to Forestland.

If you want to go for a drive in the bush to get away from the crouds and noise and just be enveloped in nature, Forestland is the place to go.
Forestland... it sounds like a theme park or magical place on the other side of a portal.

You'll find yourself weaving around tall eucalypts, surrounded by wattles, banksias, fern tress and grass trees, among many ohters.
You'll probably hear the Whip Birds, Bell Birds, Rosellas, Kookaburras and Lyrebirds making their bush music.

And if you are really lucky you might catch a glimpse of the Wattle, Banksia and Eucalypt fairies haivng a dance party under the fern trees, drinking their fermented gum blossum nectar and singing along to the music played by the birds. I did attempt to introduce 1920s music to a male Lyrebird I saw. Like Harry Richman's Puttin' On The Ritz, Sophie Tucker's I Ain't Got Nobody, Eddie Cantor's Makin' Whoopee, and Bessie Smith's Kitchen Man (with some interesting euphemisms haha). I hope Mr Lyrebird was taking it all in, or at least that muffled trumpet sound, because I reckon the fairies will like it at their next dance party.

Here are 2 waypoints to help you find this cache. Where I entered Forestland, S29 09.519 E152 06.376, and where you can park, S29 10.294 E152 08.539, on the Burra Spur Track which doesn't go much further than here.

I've given this a T2.5 rating for somewhere between 2 and 4 wheel drive access. It was  a very wet and slippery road the day I came out here but I think a 2WD could creep along it just fine. Watch out for logging trucks and be aware of any eclusion areas for "harvesting".

Have fun.

Fun Fact: Cyathea cooperi, the Lacy Tree Fern, derives this name from its delicate fronds. It is also known as the Australian Tree Fern as it is one of the most commonly grown Australian tree-ferns. I actually don't know what 'Cooperi' has to do with that really, but if you do, let me know. haha.
