find a Red Phone booth and log it.

RED TELEPHONE BOX's

Many of us may remember these. I was probably too young to have used them much but I remember them being on many streets and locations around.

your task if you should choose to accept it is to locate a RED TELEPHONE BOX  and log its locaion.

SO many of them may no longer be functional, and may not be being used as phone boxes any longer, but it would still be fun to see how many still exsist.

so get youself in a photo of the Box either changeing into your superhero costume, dissapearing as Agent 86 Maxwell smart did, or fling through time and space... no wait that was a police box. I think Bill and ted used a Phone box to travel on thier excelent adventure, and there have been a couple of horror/suspence movies made about telephone booths, but Im mainly intersted in the RED ones.

View telephone booths in a larger map

the location i have posted is for one i spied in Pro Harts gallery on a recent visit to Broken HIll.

so that one is taken.

I know of at least 2 others , possibly 3

After a birthday for Kinkell just up the road we were heading toward Melbourne and spotted this un-red telehpone booth beside the road. It's now used to house the crossing flags for the school crossing nearby.

Don't think it's had a hit yet.
Thanks.

I drive from Nanango to Toowoomba ( 124Klm) on a regular basis and drive past a certain establishment twice on each journey at Crows Nest Qld. Then on this trip I notice something different on the footpath so I had to stop and take a look. There was an old time street corner fire alarm notification pole and this old RED telephone box. It was complete with old fashioned baker light black phone and still had the old greenish tinge shelf and glass back drop.

12-Jan-13
Here's a Tassie one that doesn't seem to have come up before. It was in the yard at an accommodation/cafe stop called Killynought or Seabreeze (both names seemed to be there - I was a bit confused to which it was called) near Boat Harbour. The views were lovely, the food delicious, and coffee great! Thanks for the cache as well.

16-Apr-12
To my amazement not only did the entry building to The Buried Village have a red letterbox on offer, but also this red phone booth! The village is located south west of Rotorua and was submerged during a volcanic eruption in June 1886. The phone booth is obviously a later addition! TFTC.

26-Feb-12
Came accross this one at Old Tailem Bend Town, an interesting place to visit.

22-Feb-12
I was DNFing a cache close by - For TIMe and noticed this red phone box. Man it's been years since I've seen one. It's working too. I took the photo, but didn't have a spare $5 to make a call...haha Cool Wink

This old red phone box is being used as a gallery outside a secondhand bookstore off Salamanca Place in Hobart.

Driving through Ararat heading home and as we drove past of the caravan parks, we caught sight of this one up near reception. A quick u-turn and we managed to grab the photo. Even better, it hasn't been found til now.

Thanks a fun locationless, even if it has taken a while to find one.

These two telephone booths were seen as we drove along William St, Westbury. The premises is the local equivalent of Steptoe and Son. Both telephones booths have been renovated (ie, given a coat of paint)and are for sale, the pointed top one is $2700, the round topped one $2600. Needless to say we left them insitu.

11-Nov-11
Hadn't seen one of these for years-near Chiltern,Victoria(I think).

28-Oct-11
Found this old box sometime ago when looking for a hidden cache nearby

14-Oct-11
Found this excellent specimen on Olympiad Parade, near the corner of Balmoral Street, in Leura, NSW -- in the Blue Mountains.

In fact, this particular old telephone booth -- which appears to be part of someone's rather rustic collection in a cluttered front yard -- is very near where the recent Leura bushfires started. The area behind the house -- now undergoing some kind of major refurbishment -- is completely burned.

The telephone booth is not working, but is located right on the street, on the very edge of private property. Initially you might think it was still doing its original job.

Great to see this Locationless back in action. It's a good one. Love these old red phone booths . . .

13-Oct-11

Although this booth at HOlbrook was logged a few days ago, it was while I was away, and I believed it to be "unfound" at the time of snapping the pic - however, I note the previous finders log does not include a photo of the great phone that is on the booth - a phone which is typically up to the standard of public phones elsewhere.

06-Mar-11
Found this telephone booth on the way south

02-Mar-11
We found this one at one of the petrol stations in Holbrook NSW. Holbrook is about an hour north of Albury and going by the map here, there seems to be a few of these around this area.

This one is at the back of the museum in Tumut not far from the GC cache "Tree-haeuser". Not in the best condition but it's the type I remember from childhood with the roof that reminds me of a Sydney red rattler.

03-Jan-11
Was driving around some dirt roads trying to find my way back to a main road then I spotted this box so slammed on the brakes and stopped took the picture and the coordinates then continued on my way.

WanderingAus wandered by on day 158 of our annual Climatic Refugee trip, heading into Bankstown Sports Club for a last slap-up dinner before heading West the next day, and finally got around to taking a photo of one of the red phone boxes in the club. Not sure how many there are, but it's at least half a dozen, all of them with working telephones inside.

Ahh these take me back .Press A then press B and you could even get a free dial a prayer. Its what you did when you were a bored 10 year old

Found this one in a likely spot, Walhalla, Vic. Population reportedly in single figures. Time has stood still here so a red phone booth is appropriate. Phone works - GPSr is inside the booth. Looking at Google Earth the coords seem out but is that the fact that with the village being in a deep valley the EPE is about 10m or the fact that GE is often way out?
Good to see a few of these around.

27-Sep-10
There is a pristine Red Phone Box at the Axel Stenross Maritime Museum in Port Lincoln.

As we only log each cache once, we'll leave the find for someone else.

25-Sep-10
I found this old red phone box in someone's backyard. I am not sure exactly what they are using it for and as it was in their yard I wasn't game to go in for a look, but I do know it is not a phonebox anymore.

The photo was taken from public land behind the house so anyone can wander past and see it.

This one is located in the student cafeteria of Newstead College in Launceston Tasmania. It was presented to Alanvale College in March 1988 by the SRC after being restored by A.R. Herbert. The booth was relocated to this site after a new college was built to replace the existing campus.

17-Sep-10
I spotted this red phone box sitting inside the Telegraph Station in Beechworth. There is even a telephone still stuck on the back wall.

16-Sep-10

We knew of two old red phone boxes near Moonta, South Australia, so headed off to log one of them today. This one is located next to the sweets shop opposite the Wheal Moonta mining museum.

No time to change into my superhero costume, but the weather today is so good it's the first time I've worn short pants since the beginning of winter!

Thanks Pesky!

Edit 1st September: We had to travel past this spot today and cast our eyes toward the phone booth. We were surprised to see that it's been removed! Could Pesky be stealing them??!!

29-Aug-10
This red telephone box has caught our eye recently because it's such a shame that it's slowly rotting in someone's yard. If I had one of these things I'd be taking much better care of it!

25-Aug-10
Knew where there was a red phone booth - so took a photo.
On Martinsville Road near Watagan State Forest.
Thanks for the great cache Pesky!
