Description

This Cache has been placed near a hidden lookout platform along the Highland lakes hwy.

we were surprised that there was no cache already here.

The viewing platform looks down over Golden Valley.

You can Park at S41 43.242 E146 43.498 and the cache is a short stroll from there.

While here take in the view down the valley.

While on my way to Hamilton for work I was heading past so I thought I’d check a couple of caches that had recent dnfs.

This cache is still in place, could see it from walking track as walking in.

Hi DEZ055.
Today whilst plundering caches from Mangalore to Deloraine, we looked for this cache.
Alas, we only managed a DNF. We resorted to reading previous logs and confirmed we were looking in the correct place.

Without a caching reason to stop here, I don't think we would ever have known about this hidden lookout. Although we have actually walked down the Liffey River Track below here which comes out at the top car park area for the Liffey Falls. Anyway, a good cache in a good spot, and in good nick. Thanks DEZ055. Clan MinotaurSmile

I was on my way to Queenstown and this was on my unfound list so I corrected that irregularity by making a quick find. I enjoyed the walk in and the views from a viewing platform I didn't know existed. Very Happy

On our way to the lakes and beyond today so had to pass this new cache. There was no-one in the parking area so we enjoyed the walk in. a visit to the platform and took a few photos of the flowers below before heading back own to search for the cache. The sun was still quite low and we found we were looking directly at it as we searched. After a few minutes we spotted the little beast and soon had our name added to the log. All was in good condition.

Thanks for this cache DEZ055. We hope it last longer than some of the earlier caches that have hung around this area.

The native waratahs are flowering along the highway adding a bright splash of colour. More delicate than their chunky NSW relatives. The views from the lookout were spectacular on this clear early morning.
