Description
Newstead is a residential locality in the local government area of Launceston and is about 3 kilometres east of Launceston. The 2016 census provides a population of 5 366 for Newstead. Newstead took its name from "Newstead House", built in the vicinity in 1855 by Ronald Campbell Gunn. In 1919 it was renamed "Kawallah" but this was not supported by local residents and the area was unofficially known as Newstead until it became official in 1961.

Another interesting info board which Mr Beetle read to me while I found and signed the cache.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Mr T from Tassie Trekkers and Mr W decided to tackle this well set up series of caches on the NETRTrail. It was a great day to be out riding. The better halves dropped them off at 10.15 at No. 56 and collected them at No. 01 five hours later. The effort in setting this series up is appreciated as well as the information added to each cache page. The well detailed hints were appreciated. TFTC

Today Mr T and Mr W (whitewebbs) tackled this trail and thoroughly enjoyed the journey. Loading up the trailer with their pushbikes, Mrs T & Mrs W dropped them off at #56 and collected them 5 hours later in Scottsdale.

An easy find here with the trail still constantly rising.
Even with the ebike on low power and low fitness level the ride was getting harder.
But our goal of reaching the top of Billycock Hill was in sight so we continued to press on.
Thoroughly enjoying the scenery....many tftc...cheers ST.
